Ok so i have been in these forums since the game arrived on my door step the day it was released, i am still for as far as i know still running the unpatched version of the game and i am not running it through steam i still need the CD in the tray to play.

I get home from work this morning and start the game and up pops a new EULA which i have to agree to. All is well in the game i notice nothing different as i finish the Ozi lines and gear up for the Landsmeet portion of the final stretch. The only thing i did different this time around is when i went to talk to Bhelin and took his papers to show the 2 nobles i happend to hit the shaperite first and talking to the head shaper i find out the Bhelin's papers are really fakes. Yea yea i kind of figured he was lying, hell they lie to the fish but this is the first time i caught him at it. So i destroy the anvil walk back into the assembly with the crown and as most would assume i am going to hand it to Bhelin but, i hand it to Harromont instead.

Anyway i head to Denerim and start the prep for the landsmeet, get the mission to rescue the Queen so off i go. Being as this character is human noble i have every intention of returning the favor Howe visited on my family upon his, and do so leaving no one alive in the entire castle before i go rescue the queen. Knowing what i comming i set up the party for a fight, in the previous 4 plays i have not beaten Ser Catherine yet, so i trigger the event and then drag her and one archer all the way back to the room where the warden documents are found and make my stand there, i whipped her solidly this time not even difficult but my character was tanking her and my PC is a pretty stout chick. base stats are 40 strenght plus 5 from gear total 45, 30 dexterity plus 8 from gear for 38, level 4 coersion and 22 cunning points i can sell ice to eskimoes, 30 constitution, i am wearing Wades dragon bone plate (massive), redcliffe elite shield, starfang of course, Helm of Honliegh. After she dies i notice a codex entry that states Ser Catherine has died while trying to arrest Elissa for the murder of Arl Howe having never beat her before i figure this is just one of the bugs in the game and move on. I get back to Eamon's estate and Anora expresses sorrow at the loss of Ser Catherine saying something like you had to do what you had to do warden or something close. Again i think nothing of this as i have heard from many other folks that beating her does not really mean anything. I get to the point after doing the alienage quest to go to the landsmeet and i fully expect Ser Catherine to be standing in the lobby waiting on my party to show. Imagine my suprise when i walk into the lobby and there is NO Ser Catherine, thats right, NO Ser Catherine, i walk into the landsmeet unopposed. 

I have i think 10 ( i save before certain events, romances, Leliana sings, difficult fights etc) saves for this current character so i will go home tonite and try and duplicate this event again. So the only thing that makes sence is that having to accept a new EULA pop up before todays game play leads me to believe that the game was patched(?) without my knowledge,  or that because of certain choices i made earlier in the game had an effect on the Ser Catherine outcome. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has been able to duplicate this experience, so far this is the first time i have heard of not having to fight her twice.

If you beat Ser Cauthrien when rescuing Anora she dies then and there. Why would she show up at the Landsmeet?  You only have to fight her twice if you lose.

There was no patch today, btw. The EULA popped up because they updated it, and they wanted to make people reaccept it.

Just fired the game up and had it give me the terms of service and download The Edge. It might be worth checking out in case something did happen, but if you fought her when going to get Anora you killed her.

As a side note, not exactly keen on having a download forced to start at game start-up. Don't recall giving that right in the TOS.

Sorry my bad this post is what made me think killing her was not supposed to happen but it was awhile ago and the details must have slipped my Pre alzheimers mind.
