I liked Evangelion, though it had flaws, which they are correcting in their Alternate Universe Movies/Ovas that is taking all the stuff fans wanted without the stuff they didn't like about End of Evangelion or that random school ending at the end of the anime.

This does not make sense on so many levels. Putting arbitrary gameplay restricitions on yourself does not change the story (using your logic Diablo 2 would have an amazing story since it features the hardcore mode where you can't respawn) in any way. And you certainly don't understand what a Mary Sue is, since the definition had nothing to do with the rest of your post.
