Actual science fiction doesn't have "hyper-evolved" (lawl) beings of light that ask you to merge with "synthetic DNA" (double lawl).

He would. If Cthulhu appears to you and tells you to listen, it doesn't matter how badass you are, you listen.

All we have about the starchild (or "extremely convenient and unexplained deus ex machina popping out of nowere" if you prefer) is pure speculation. They present a new character who is supossed to be the great mastermind behind the reapers in the last 10 minutes and they never explain what the hell is he. That is just bad writing. Why does he look like shepard? The reapers are reading his mind to create a bad copy of the child? Can they even do that? It's like when you are in the geth server, only a representation your mind can comprehend? Or maybe they tried to emulate Shyamalan with a nonsensical twist in the ending forgetting that his movies after Unbreakable suck?
