Sure, it was one of the most amazing games I have ever played. I just head cannoned the end

This, but to be honest, no one could have gotten it into my head just how horrifically bad the ending is, anyway.

It's not letting me edit... Would you hqve bought it if you knew it would have bad endings?
I wouldn't have.

Honestly I would've waited. But I was all too eager to preorder and jump on into the next Mass Effect chapter. Imagine my surprise when it wasn't nearly was satisfying as Mass Effect 2 was. I won't be so eager next time to buy ANY new game  on release day. It's best to wait and see preorder "perks" be damned. And IMO the preorder goodies this time weren't nearly as good.

I would have bought the game but I wouldn't have bought the collectors edition and taken vacation time off to play it...

By the way never ever ever listen to professional reviews, they are full of it, before purchasing, look for the customer reviews, they are not paid to review it.

I wouldn't believe the endings are this bad. I'm still happy I played it. I'm glad I didn't buy Javik though, I can hold this purchase hostage :P

Just an FYI, you can unlock Javik with an INI tweak, because he's already in the game. Gotta love bull**** day-one DLC.

I imagine most people wouldn't buy it.

They'd still play it though, if you know what I mean.

If BW told me:

-- We're basically giving you 3 endings with a relatively small changes here & there
-- We're going to reuse 80% of the assets of the endings to make it seem more like one ending
-- Choice you've made leading up to the "ending" will have minimal impact on the ending you experience
-- We're not going for a clear ending ... we want lots of speculation and people wondering what's going on [no epilogue, clarity, or closure]
-- The endings won't have much variety in tone ... they're all pretty much downers

Not only would I have not bought the game but I'd have warned my friends away. However I'd possibly be BW's #1 defender because it would take guts to lose thousands or millions of sales so they could tell the story they wanted. Also being honest with fans, even if it's not what I'd like, is huge for me so I'd be a radical defender.

I wouldn't have spent $80 for the CE if i had known, that's for sure. That'll be the last BioWare game I pre-order, let alone get the CE of....

But yeah, I probably would have ebayed a copy for $25 or whatever, and still would have been floored after seeing the ending even if i had already known about it. That's how garbage it was.

Assuming I believed the warnings?  No, and I'll tell you why:

I never played mass effect for the gameplay.  Run around, shoot stuff...this has been done a million times before.  There is nothing particularly new or exciting in Mass Effect (any part of the trilogy) that hasn't been done before, when it comes to running around and shooting stuff.  Many, many game have done this better.

Where Mass Effect stands out, of course, is the story.  But if I was just in it for the story, I could just watch the cut scenes on Youtube, for free.

Where Mass Effect truly, truly excelled was in making it MY story.  Making it a story that is mine and nobody else's.  I have friends who played the trilogy, and I've talked to people on this forum for YEARS, and I've never found ANYBODY who had the exact same story that I did.  I can't watch it on Youtube because it's a story that "I" made.  No other person could upload the series of videos that I saw.

Until Mass Effect 3.  Knowing the ending, I could just google "Mass Effect 3 ending" and know that I'd seen the same video as I would have seen if I had actually played the game.  .

So, no.  If I had been warned, I would not have bought the game.

I would not have pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Ed. I would have waited for a huge discount and comments on how they plan to fix this before making a decision.

yes, only because based on the other 2 it would have to be seen to be believed. :(

To be honest? Had I known about the endings, I would have likely not Pre-ordered it and waited until there was a used copy available at some store somewhere.

I saw the leaks and desperately hoped there was some "secret" ending that just hadn't been revealed yet. If I had known what I know now - I would not have bought the CE edition, or taken off work to play. I honestly don't know if I could have stayed completely away but I would have bought at a later date and bought a standard copy.

I'd never have believed the endings were that bad. Heck, I was on this board, knew about the leaks, got told by people who'd read them they were bad, and STILL didn't believe it. Some things you have to see for yourself.

Would I have bought ME3 if I knew? I honestly would not have believed it if anyone had spoiled it for me. One of my favorite Meme Pics is Morpheus from the Matrix. You cannot be told how bad the Ending to ME3 is. You have to see it for yourself.

I was about 30% into the game when I opened a ME3 Ending rant topic. And even though the person laid out the Ending in its full and terrible form, I immediately assumed he just didn't import an ME2 save, or rushed through skipping important side missions, or failed to build his fleet or play multiplayer for GR% or something, and that his bad Ending was just his fault.

I really just couldn't comprehend that Bioware, a company I've come to know for making fantastic games with exceptional stories, could blow this one so completely.

No. The game is clearly not worth $60 and I'm sure most us paid $80 for the collectors edition.

I did know.  I bought it for the Multiplayer, and was pleased with my purchase for about a week... Then people finished their singleplayer games and seemed to lose interest in the Multiplayer.  Now I've actually got my Mass Effect cover thumbtacked to my noteboard by my front door; a stickynote over the Commander's face says "Never forget" as a means of reminding me not to pay full-price for anything that I've not heard good things about.
