Sure, it was one of the most amazing games I have ever played. I just head cannoned the end

this.

im a completionist at heart... i list Mass Effect among my favorite series.

its like Star Wars for me.  I'm not a fan of the prequels (except Revenge, that one I thought was actually pretty good), but I still have all six movies in my collection.

I just don't have anything else Lucas made...

So yea, I'd have still picked up ME3, but I'm damn sure not going to be buying anything from Bioware based on faith alone in the future.  Not going to say I won't ever buy another Bioware game, but I sure as **** won't be buying a game of theirs without checking into it beforehand.

experience of ME1/2 was fun, enjoyable and had my friends and i talking about all sorts of possibilities for number 3. everything up till the cerberus base was brilliant it was fun and it felt like defying the odds.. it was a great experience but the ending has ruined the series for me. it kinda ruined any replayability of ME1 and 2 and definately 3 by destroying actual choices.

i was passionate about the game and the ending didnt just make me mad... i was furious... im over it now.

purposely didnt read much on ME3 and that was my own mistake but i didnt want spoilers. i will now wait a while before making a purchase for a community reaction instead of buying off the bat (saying that i prolly will buy heart of the swarm when that comes out but thats it!).

Yes. And I don't consider the ending bad. But I also not a fanatic about the series either.

I still would buy it; the "universe" itself is too captivating for me to pass up...even if the half-arsed the conclusion. Some have Star Wars....I have Mass Effect. :)

I would have waited and got it cheap, I had the official hardback guide for a week berfore I got the game, on release. I wasnt even tempted to have a peek, I trusted, more fool me.

Tough call, now that I think about it. I probably would not have pre-ordered it, at least. Like some of the other posters, I also enjoyed the rest of the game leading up to the end and I probably would not have believed or listened to the blood rage until after I had done my own first play-through. As a result, i won't buy any DLC without reading the reviews and doing some research first. Ditto for any other spin-off games meant to be in the Mass Effect universe.

I would not have preordered. I would have waited a year or two for the price to drop in half.

As much as I moan about how it finished, it wouldn't have stopped me from buying it if I knew beforehand. The game was quality. The characters are great. I couldn't have stopped playing after the second game.

I can now, though.

In all honesty, I would have waited. Regardless of what happens in April, I doubt I will ever prerder a Bioware game again to ensure when I do get it, the ending is either not half assed or "to be continued" via DLC.

I actually knew about the endings before I got it. Well, almost. I had read the outline for some of them, but I refused to believe it was true. No way such a epic series could end in such a way.

So in hope I still bought it.

At least I'm enjoying the MP. I enjoyed the game as well, but... The ending just murdered any replay value of any three games. I wanted to do a marathon, going 1-3 almost non stop. After having seen the ending, I just didn't feel like it.

If I had known way back before I started playing the games at all, I would never have bothered. But considering how invested I let myself get.... yes, I would have still bought it, just not a collector's edition and only after the price had come down. I could be patient about having them crush my hopes for what the ending could be.

I would have waited as well.

The bad ending combined with the post release price drops, and how totally NOT WORTH IT paying the extra howevermuchitwas for the CE was; makes me feel like I wasted my money with ME3 and made me wish id held off.

Unless the ending is fixed (and by fixed I mean the hologram kid disspears forever) then I won't be buying any ME3 DLC. And I am not just saying that cos I am a pissed off fanboy - I said the same about Dragon Age 2 and its flaws, that I wasn't getting DA2 DLC and I haven't.

So - i'd have bought it eventually. But not preordered it had I known.

Well I knew it.

I actually read some Amazon reviews (which were pretty much 50/50 so early after release) and thought "well, it's probably just controversial, maybe a little too grim for some".

Given Biowares prior record (even with DA2) I genuinely believed that there was no way in hell they could botch this up. Much less "ruin the whole franchise" with the ending alone. It sounded like overdramatic BS, to me.

Boy was I wrong

"Would you have bought it if you knew it would have bad endings?"

Blue answer: Definitely! It's a brilliant game!!
Green answer: Not sure. I think I would have... maybe....
Red answer: NO!! It's ruined the entire series...

:) For me? Yes. I've definitely bought it.

Yep I would have still bought it, because I wouldn't be able to believe it until I played for myself.

yes. just because the ending (the last half hour) is crap, doesnt mean that the rest of the game isnt good.

In fact, the rest of ME3 was superb, so yes, I would've definitely bought this game and I'm still recommending people to play the game, because for 43 hours (in my case) it was the best game I've played in almost a year.

Yes, I still would have bought the game. I've come too far to let myself be pissed over the damn ending, so I just accept the fact and move on. The story leading up to the conclusion is simply amazing along with the accompanying music, the sacrifices by characters I became attached to are heroic, and I have no regrets for buying the N7CE. I may not like the ending, but that won't stop me from playing the hell out of the story with multiple Shepard playthroughs.

As I was amused (/humbled) by Chipaway's reply to my ranting, I will give an actual answer to the op.

I read books for story and endings. I play games mainly for the gameplay and a littlebit for story. And I liked the ending.

And I PAY for games (movies, etc.) because I respect the effort and want more to be made.

So yes.

If I had only heard of a bad ending, yes. Wouldn't have believed that Bioware could produce such a debacle.

If I had seen all the endings and the "explanation" of the StarChild? No. Surely not on release. Perhaps later, when the price is somewhere around 20 €...

I wouldn't have bought it new. I wouldn't have preordered. I wouldn't... oh who I am Kidding I wouldn't have believed Bioware could betray their work so badly without that I experienced it for myself.

Assuming I could somehow magically know in advance how gutted I would feel and how much time I'd waste on forums because of it... No I wouldn't have bought it. I can't go back in time to correct that but I CAN make sure Bioware never burns me again.

I vote with my wallet.

Fool me twice. Shame on me.

see my sig.
