I don't see anything debunking the pictures..... the OP doesn't address the picture but argues another point.

lol, that's hardly "debunked" (The picture isn't even a theory, just a statement about the game).

Reapers harvest one advanced civilization to become a reaper, but they still destroy the rest. They only leave the lesser intelligent beings alive so they can evolve to the point of being suitable for assimilation in a future cycle.

Buuut, you're probably just a troll. I'm just trying to justify my devilish, condescending smirk.

First off, stop pimping your tv channel.

Second off, It's still flawed logic. The meme was made to point out the obvious fail in the godchild's logic. So in order to protect us from making an AI it chooses to kill all galactic civilization, instead of coming to the aid of galactic civilization in the event that this does occur. Hell, Sovereign enlists the assistance of the geth, which per the explanation provided by the godchild IS WHAT THEY ARE KILLING US FOR. I am not impressed by this obvious attempt to stir the pot in order to get hits to your website that I did not go to.

You are aware that the whole Organics vs Synthetics cycle is a brand new thing that snuck into ME3 and is NOT the original vision and concept of the ME trilogy? Right?

Are you kidding me? Did you forget EVERYTHING Saren said to justify his actions? Its not a new concept, its one of the many concepts that where on the table but the dark energy stuff was NOT the only one...

As far as i remember ME1 came before ME2, so there was much more foreshadow. And the dark energy was just a minor comment in the middle of a mission in ME2.

So the ME3 concept had more foreshadow than the dark energy one

My point is "the cycle" was never about destroying advanced civilizations to prevent synthetics from rising and wiping out all organic life in the galaxy.
That is something they made up for ME3.

This thing you call "made up" actually fits with the logic of a leader who controls the reapers.  Had you assessed harbinger and sovereign properly you would of identified a puppet, not an entity with free will.

Oh yes I'm so feeble minded that I was not able identify something that was not there.

Mind you, this is to counter your "simplified for simple minds" jab. Which is out of place, and uneccesary.

Can you give me a summary of your primary points from this thread?

I have a feeling if I devote the next two weeks to understanding the ted arguments they may prove that you have no idea what you're talking about and you're just posting a random link to make yourself look smarter.

If I were you. I would usually point out a few primary arguments, then simplify them so they can reach a wider audience quickly. Hence you'll be able to get your point across quicker.  Life is about getting your thoughts across quickly, surely you know this.

This is a troll response. You attempt to dictate how the conversation should occur, trying to weasel in a false authority.

The video was appropo because it talked about simple equations being "beautiful," which is a nice counter sentiment to your simplified for simple minds statement. I don't need to pretend to be smart when I can just have smart people do all of the talking.

The real reason the images is wrong is simple:

The reapears think they are saving everyone by turning them into repears. Saving (some of) the conciousness of the advanced species.

So the meme goes like this:

Yo dawg I heard you don't want organics to be killed by synthetics so I created synthetics to turn organics into synthetics so organics don't create synthetics that kill all organics.

So? How is advocating for genocide means that youre illogical/contradictory? The reapers might have a morality issue (they are machines after all) but it dosent mean their actions are illogical...

Because their premise is false.

It was shown to be false IN GAME.

The premise is the created will ALWAYS rebel against the creators... if you put always there and ther eis only 1 instance on which that is not true, the whole thing falls to pieces And we have 2 instances: EDI and the Geth

Yeah because two cases where it dosent happen trumps the milions of years of perspective the reapers have...

BTW listen to Javik speech on why machines and organics cant coexist (even if you side with the geth in the game)

Millions of years of experience, they might be extremists but they arent being illogical...

Millions of years of experience?

What? every 50k years the reapers come to the galaxy. how, what, millions?
Your inventing "things". protheans have the same 50k like humans and co.

generalizing that every one makes the same mistake with AI is as stupid as the vent boy logic.

If the reapers only harvest advanced civilizations what does that mean? Think about it.

It means that primitive civilizations are harvested in the next cycle, or maybe the one after that.

You can argue for or against the Catalyst's logic. It is possible to come up with valid point for both. On the other hand, it does contradict itself in that according to it,  as the creator of the reapers it should sooner or later be destroyed by the reapers, which would likely end the cycles ("the citadel is part of me", thus it's destruction would also end the citadel, which is essential to the cycle), making the whole effort a stall tactic instead of a solution.

Also who needs to devote 2 weeks to a ted talk? They are specifically presented in layman terms to help understanding, so all the time you need to understand the talk...is the time it takes to watch the talk.

and now silence as troll status confirmed

I would pay money to see Bioware try to talk their way out of what they did. Not PR, but really try and explain why they did what they did.

They abandoned the entire series for a childish, silly ending.

I totally get what the OP is saying here. I didn't really like the ending myself, but that meme didn't even come close to what the Reapers were actually doing in the game. But people were using it as an argument to say 'The endings are illogical and flawed, check out this meme!'. Simply put, it's not particularly helpful to a rational and constructive conversation about the issue.

Everyone acknowledges that the Reapers leave behind the primitive civilizations.

Everyone acknowledges that the Reapers are created by LIQUIFYING the organic species of choice and it acts as a weird and cruel form of reproduction.

Both of these acknowledged facts don't justify the completely IDIOTIC logic that a synthetic army is killing off organics so that organics don't advance enough to create synthetics that will wipe out ALL organics.

That. Is. ****ing. Stupid.

Also, this glorious ascension that the Reapers make the organics conversion out to be? Yeah, it is still genocide and the constructed "organic" cores of the Reapers no longer recognize themselves as organic beings. They become just as cruel, horrific, and merciless as the other reapers and LOSE EVERYTHING THAT THEY WERE.

That is not glorious ascension; it is forced conversion. It is murder for the sake of reproduction and the continuation of galactic genocide.

I don't give a **** what terrible reason the catalyst came up with. It's still ****ing evil.
