From statements I've made to friends about Bioware/EA's attitude toward gamers, I've prevented two of my friends, that were teetering on dropping cash to acquire the game, from purchasing ME3.  That's $100.

None, I encouraged people to buy the game because the series as a whole is still good.

Got 2 of my co-workers who were on the bench about it to try it out, and also pick up Mass Effect 2 so they could get more back-story. So thats, what? $180.

Oh, I'm sorry. Was this another ending-rage thread?

I also thought the series ended up as a hole.

"There was a hole here it's gone now"

Seriously though, why would I do that? I tell them the positives and the negatives, ALL of them. Anything less is working with some singular agenda, not my goal of life.

Three. One of those was wasted, so he may not remember. Definitely two.

Four. Two had already played ME1 and ME2. Told them to wait until I tried the ending fix. The other two were debating getting into the series. Said not to waste your time because right now it doesn't matter what you do.

While playing, I convinced 2 people to buy it (before I saw the ending). I have now convinced 4 people to hold off until they address the ending issue or until we see what they're going to do. So, net 2 people.

I was actually trying to encourage then to buy it, but they'd already heard about the endings. I clarified, gave them context, debunked some misinformation, and they decided to wait. This is why BioWare should worry - even though 99% of the game is amazing, the 1% that matters most to a lot of people is broken.

I couldn't in good conscience recommend people not to buy it if they had already played the first two games. But I would try and dissuade any newcomers from starting the series until/unless there is a change.

PS how do you get a custom avatar?

Most people I know bought it on launch day. Others I just tell them to buy it and find out for themselves if they like it or not.

I have told no one to not buy the game. I actually convinced someone to buy the entire series from ME1 and on.

The simple fact is this; aside from the ending, ME3 was a spectacular ride.

But I am also coming from the mindset that the ending was left very ambiguous because they have something much bigger planned than any of us can imagine.

you people telling other people to buy the game because the "Journey" outweighs the ending are missing the point.
