Three - two old-time fans who didn't preorder like I did, I let 'em know that the game was solid, but the ending was pretty dreadful. They're waiting to see if Bioware is actually going to give us a yea/nay before deciding. And one person who was curious about the series - who I told to get1 and 2, wait on 3 for now.

I would say....3 from buying, 2 from playing, so 5 people total discouraged.

The 2 I mentioned bought the game but decided to just stop after 2 until BioWare announces their plans for 3.

Sad, sad people.
I'm really irked by all these people who seem so very proud they did their part in being an absolute nuisance to a great company that has created one of the most amazing gaming experiences ever. I simply cannot fathom how people can be so jaded, and see absolutely nothing beyond the black-and-white they've been feeding themselves and each other, especially here on these forums. Wake up people. The sky is not coming down.

I've persuaded about 3 people to go and buy the damn game.

I would never be so petty, let people make up their own minds.

Word of mouth is a b*tch. Companies in the business of making money shouldn't alienate their customers.

I didn't tell them to avoid buying the game. They simply talked to me about my experience, as the biggest ME fan they know, and I told them what I thought.

I mentioned the good parts throughout the game, spoiler-free as much as possible, and that I liked the game right up until the ending.

They made their decision off of that. I didn't tell them "Do not buy this game!"

3.

They knew I had the game and asked how I felt about it. Said it was good gameplay, but the ending was horrific then directed them to Google it for themselves.

I know, and that means I very much don't mean to target you with my post. But there's a LOT of other people in this topic who seem honestly annoyingly proud of the feat they have accomplished, being part of some ridiculous Hulk-movement that is now basically keeping itself alive. HOLD THE LINE. :?
It's very good to have critique, and it can be valuable to people
wanting to buy the game. I don't fully agree with the ending either. But this whole movement has gotten so terribly incomprehensibly out of control..

None, I have actually brought a couple more people to the series as a whole. The "ending" controversy actually made them interested in the series. They all plan to purchase ME1 through ME3, which is pretty cheap, Amazon had ME2 Deluxe going for 9$ the other day, not too shabby.

Why must we continue to try and destroy a company that we have been fans of for years. Stopping sales will only hurt those at Bioware, not EA. EA will just snatch up another developer and destroy them. We must continue to support Bioware, there is nothing wrong with being critical about a product they released, but let us stay positive. These people created Mass Effect, I truly believe after this debacle that they will redeem themselves.

Same for me - and ironically it hurts that my opinions swayed them, as it was never my intention.  But like you said, they talked to the 'biggest ME fan they knew' and in the end, came to their own conclusion.

This thread is useless is adds nothing positive to the whole movement...and let me tell you someting else I don't take suggestions when it comes to games or films, I like to make up my own mind.Somebody's crap is another man's gold.

I'd say that blatantly discuraging people to play the game because of "Nerd rage" isn't very grown up.Perhaps telling them the pros and cons and letting them decide, otherwise it's just another silly do what I do,think what I think crusade...and that's,well that's just plain moronic

Well, first off I don't believe half of the stories being told here.

Second, if you call yourself a BW/ME fan, that's a pretty lame way to act. It's not going to positively influence the situation. It's just a little petty.

Third, if you're no longer a fan, then it's probably a good idea to move on from the series, and find a community associated with a company you want to support.

I'd venture to say that they didn't think it was that amazing as it currently stands.

I've persuaded about 3 people to go and buy the damn game.

Did you give them a fair and balanced report about the ending controversy, or did you play it down? What if they hate it?

None. My big beef is with the last 5 minutes or so. The other 30 hours or so were pretty decent.

I made my brother play the serie after I finished me3, i warned him about the ending but told him that the rest was great. Like some people, I didnt try to make people not buy it but I gave them a lil warning at least.

Not as many as I would hope. Then again, they weren't big Mass Effect fans anyway.

In fact I did, as much as I could without spoiling anything about the game or the franchise. If they hate it, then that'll give us plenty of fuel to have a nice discussion over. They are, by all means, entitled to hate it, or even join 'the movement' if they so desire. I just think this thing should NOT be representative of the whole sodding ME franchise.

Not enough! One of my co-workers saw it as a challenge. He wants to play it and tell me the ending was great. Yeah, that backfired on him and now he owes me "Mad Men" season 4. I've stopped two people and one returned her copy and bought "L.A. Noire" and "Batman Arkham Asylum" with the money.
