New page so...

This is an image from a poster I've entered. It's had... mixed feedback. Some people like it, others find it a bit disturbing. Not really sure why though...

I'm also avoiding anybody with long hair - I'm using Gimp, so dealing with the edges of hair is a pain I'd rather avoid.

Doesn't bother me at all and its really damn good to be honest. You got real skill.
As for the.... mixed reviews, did it have anything to do with the partial nude part of it? If so, I apologize for my fellow Americans, this country seems to have issues with nudity of any kind, but ripping out someone's spine violently is perfectly acceptable
Also, you have a da account! I must friend you, what is it!

I use Photoshop and Painter. I love painting hair! Jack's hair grew way too much for 6 months, but anyway.. She's one of my favorite characters. I avoid characters with a crazy fan club because people tend to be way harsh..

if I may chip in,
I think its agreat piece, you have great talent there. Few thing that may be considered disturbing (IMHO of course...) :
1. the background make liara look like some kind of giant god standing in the middle of galaxy kind of things. For this kind of setting, I would prefer some sentimental background... nursery maybe ??
2. the head really look like a coin profile. the angle did not really suit the pose.
ps: just to be very sure, this comment was not meant to be insulting or anything negative, just a friendly input. im not an artist myself so my opinion actually worth nothing. :innocent:

In my opinion, constructive criticism is very valuable to artists, no matter who gives it. Your opinion is worth just as much as anyone else's.

It's ~Melicamp - lucky for me the name wasn't taken yet.
Huh, figured the arm covering the breasts would solve the nudity issue. Still, might explain a few comments on facebook....

Cheers for the input! All opinions are valid when it comes to art, especially when it come to art. And I've never believed in a singular vision being somehow superior - IMO cloud sourcing has proven to be the best way of solving problems and finding information, so why not apply it to art?
The head angle is as close to the model's head as I could get, but looking at it now I think the hidden left shoulder does make her look a little uncomfortable as a result - in the original that area is covered by hair, so I had no reference to fill that bit in. I'll have a go at adding a shoulder maybe.
The background was chosen purely to be attention grabbing for the poster - I'll look into other ones, Shepard's room maybe...

The head/ neck angle may be a bit oof, but that doesn't bother me.
If anything, I think the baby belly may be set a bit low, but that may just come from the posture.
I especially like the peaceful and calm expression on Li's face.
There basically has to be a living Shep around somewhere to warrant this expression.
(No, it has nothing to do with being pregnant... don't ruin my illusions... I'm not listening! Shepard's alive lalalala!).
Sorry, went of the rocker there for a moment, the pressure must have gotten to me...

Sadly, you got a lot of skin showing there, sigh, too many here are just paranoid about this sorta thing. Also, I would kindly suggest, never go into the south in America, they would freak out, literally, lol. That's being general though. I personally love it and can't wait to see the rest of your stuff melicamp. I will add you shortly.
Lol. It's funny that you as an american write this.
On some of the other boards I post on, al lot of americans get really angry if I mention something like this.

Because they know its true yet don't want to believe it. I mean come on, someone shows a little bit too much skin (usually a female here) and its all over the news, in papers, internet, ect. However, anything violence related is just accepted here as being, more normal. Violence is just more accepted here then anything sexual. Sigh, Americans are so terrified of anything remotely sex related, good luck getting them to talk about it.
HUSH NO TALKING!
Btw, did you see how great it was when i shot dan yesterday in the head during call of duty! THAT WAS GREAT! GO VIOLENCE!
It's a stereotype, one that is sadly, very true here.

Space Hamster: I demand you enter this, for it is awesome, sweet, adorable and will touch peoples heart strings, also...I want a space hamster now.
Liara: I love it but it makes me sad too, cause I get to thinking about how there were no little blue babies to be had for Leeta Shepard, who fought so hard to do the right thing so she could be a mommy. I can see some concerns with it none of which I happen to share or endorse, but I do kind of get why some people might be offended. Also some people have issues with pregnant women, dont ask me why but I run into them often enough when visiting friends.
I may not be posting much for the next day or two, some stuff is going down that I need to sort out, if you really need to reach me, you can do so via Origin or if you want my skype, poke me in PM and I'll get it to you. I will be back in time for PAX however to sit here with all of you and prepare for the announcement we have been waiting for. Keep those entries coming.

Somehow I don't like to hear this from you. YOu being the resident pillar of strength and all!
Just a few more days and we'll either have peace of mind or will set hell loose on earth!
As my pal Rorschach would say (Imagine the creepy voice, please):
"Never compromise. Not even in the face of Armageddon!"
A line that, ever since I first started to play Mass Effect, seemed fitting for Cmdr. Shepard as well and now for our Retake Movement.

I hope everyone is still feeling good. The air of anticipation on the net as PAX approaches is palpable. Whatever happens at least we'll have produced some awesome art though, such great stuff is being posted!
Also, consider this another vote to see Space Hamster in the contest, he was an integral part of the crew!

Keep making you're voices heard, keep holding the line, today the ending for Mass Effect 3! Tommorow? Respect as gamers? Reasonable priced games dictated by length and play time out of it instead of how much they can gouge us for? Sky is the limit my friends.

I doubt they'll take it on board right now, but hopefully it'll draw attention to their practices to casual gamers and more of them will become less likely to buy EA games.
I agree with this guy at Forbes who said that they are deliberately trying to annoy consumers, to test the limits of our patience, so they can increase profit in the long-term. Hopefully this reaction by the fans will mean that EA's corporate shenanigans have reached their apogee, and future reactions like this will help restore the gaming world to how it used to be...

Edit: On another note, check out Kotaku's analysis of why the ME3 ending disrespects its fanbase. I think the previously neutral or antagonistic reviewers are starting to come around...

At the bottom it mentions its reprinted from elsewhere, but the fact they even considered running
a differing view means they've acknowledged that just maybe this isn't something that will
just blow over, and that we may have a point
