N7 Eagle (acts like a machine pistol), Paladin (really good headshot damage), Black Widow (similar to the widow, but has 3 shots per clip), Geth Plasma Shotgun (really accurate), and Avenger X (really light weight) <- so far in my opinion.

Carniflex - for engineers, adepts. Keeps a decent enough recharge %, while offering amazing damage output.
Geth Plasma Shotgun - Its not a shotgun, its a damn sniper rifle. Even at long ranges it never ever misses. Best shotgun, end of story. Use on Krogan Soldier or Sentinel
Widow/BlackWidow - Salarian Infiltrator. Solo gold. Mantis is actually very good also, but in the end widows still win.
Geth Pulse Rifle - damage isnt great but it has so much ammo and is so accurate.
Falcon - Put it in a Krogan Soldiers hand along with the Geth Plasma Shotgun and gold runs are a breeze and your actually an asset to your team, not a piece of garbage they have to drag along.
Avenger X - lightweight.
Shuriken X - almost no weight at all, all Human Vanguards should use it for 200% recharge. Plus it has a pretty good clip size,which means you can shoot between each charge/nova to avoid getting the annoying nova not engaging bug without having to worry about reloading.

Thats pretty much all i use.

They nerfed the Falcon hard, I don't see it even being useful now, the Geth shotgun is better than it.

Here are my best picks for each category based on the ones I have used

Also keep in mind some weapons I picked are only great if one can keep getting multiple head shots or can keep with the enemy's body.

Pistol: Carnifex, Paladin, Scorpion, or the Arc Pistol

Shotguns: N7 Crusader, Claymore, wraith, Geth Plasma Shotgun, and the Graal Spike Thrower

Assault Rifles: Particle Rifle, Saber, Mattock, Falcon, Vindicator, and the Geth Pulse Rife

Sniper Rifle: Black Widow, Mantis, Widow, Javelin, and even I must the Incisor is good

Submachine Gun: Tempest and the Locust

Heavy Weapons: Most are really good damage why but I only pick the Geth Spitfire because it just has a lot of ammo and the damage is still decent.

Geth Shotgun - the only shotgun which is actually "good", has decent effect at long range, nice clip size, (charged shots for when running between areas/initiating), its existence makes up for all the other geth weapons being absolute garbage. Black Widow/N7 Valiant - both very similar, of course the Window can be upgraded so its obviously got the edge on that mark but they both excel at firing multiple rounds, headshot hunting. And are generally the sniper rifles of choice for any situation. The only downfall to them is their rarity.
Carnifex - One of those guns I couldn't really understand why anyone would use it until I went into gold, generally outperforms the Phalanx and has some knockback I believe which makes it a lightweight and effective weapon

For SMGs and Assault Rifles...
The best assault rifle has to be the M-99 Saber, personally don't like it much aside from high damage but its rate of fire and weight discourage use for me, although at long range it is strong as well as medium, not as effective at close range if against small enemies or playing with lag
For SMGs I would say the Hornet, to be honest, there is rarely any justification to use SMGs and the only time I use the Hornet is if I want a spam happy vanguard, in which case charging and spraying is effective.

AT-12 (I never see it getting used on anyone, but the damage! Seriusly forget the claymore and the wraith, it chrushes both in the DPS department.

EDIT: Also, Valiant, BW, Hurricane, Carnifex, Acolyte, Crusader, Sabre. Well, not the best, really, just the best for me, specifically. And Tactical Cloak. It's so good, it gets to be on the "best gun" list, too.
