The Liara romance fails if you romance her in ME1 and 2.

It is just a pain that I Romanced her in ME1 then reuped the romance in the Shadow Broker DLC (which the game dose not even remeber)  But I spend the whole of ME3 getting to know her again untill she says I am a good friend on the Citidel unless I say I want more....  I mean at the start of the game I tell her I still want to be with her.  Then at one point she drops in my lap and kisses me.... Then at the Citidel she calls me a friend...  If it was a continued romance it should have been a full romance from the very start of the game.  And I don't mean sex scenesjust talking along the lines of you two being together.

Laziness, they didn't want to bother recording a whole new set of dialogues if you stayed faithful...

I actually agree with OP.

I found it to be a bit bizarre as well. They embrace on Mars (even if it was quickly), to her sitting on my lap and kissing me on the cheek. There is even a dialogue on the Normandy where she asks if there is "still a us" and you say yes. That you wanted to be together...and work it out....

Then on the Citadel she acts like we are just friends. "This is nice, i wish we could hang out more as friends"..lol wut. I mean, I get where they were coming from. But it didn't really match up to the rest of the plot.

it was an oversight. They wanted to give us an Opportunity to romance the characters in ME3 without having a Breakup. A Dev mentioned it in another Thread that they could have recorded additional lines for Liara (other LI's) but just forgot about it. (i don't remember the dev saying they forgot it, but he mentioned the "give us the Option to romance other characters even with existing LIs")

Kaiden of all people is the only one out of the three me1 LIs to get faithful dialogue. Liara didn't get much, and either did Ashley. Kaiden gets a full faithful romance while Ashley's ends at the hospital and goes to the new romance status, and liaras ends after the scene where she sits on your lap and kisses you. It is sloppy.

Think of it as a tradeoff. Sure Liara romance seems to get the shaft when it comes to the romance over the course of the game, but they get at least a semi entertaining scene. Whereas the Tali romance has great dialogue (IMO) throughout the portion of the game she is in, but the love "scene" is just not as good as Liara's.

Are we sure this isn't some kind of a bug? Because most of the time it seemed like they focused a lot on details about romances. It's strange if that Citadel scene plays out the same no matter what you do.

Edit: Oh:ph34r:

My Shep was always faithful to Liara and it did seem odd at times. After the 'I love you' I stopped caring though.

I went with the idea that because of the 6 months in prison without seeing each other, things were renewed rather casually between them early in ME3, then became more "I want to spend my life with you" serious after the balcony scene in the Citadel. I mean, in a continued & confirmed romance, there's no way I think they had not 'spent some quality time together' a few times before the intimate scene that is actually shown before Priority: Earth, or whenever it was at the end of the game.

The only time I felt disappointed was when Shep didn't even give her a hug after her homeworld was destroyed. *scratches head* Really, not even a hug? Oh well...

Thought that was odd, but it's not the end of the world. Gives you the option to romance someone else if you feel so inclined and such

that was my interpretation of their excuse. It has been a few days since i read it. I'm currently trying to find it. So far i did manage to dig up a fix for Liara saying that you haven't seen each other for a while (PC only).

at this point I'm ready to give up the fight for better endings and start fighting for the dialogue to be overhauled and fixed.
