The Liara romance fails if you romance her in ME1 and 2.

But really even though the dialogue fails, it's still more dialogue than I got with Ashley in my broshep play through(where he'd also been faithful since ME1)

Yeah, I had this same problem. I kept going to her room and trying to talk to her, but there was hardly ever any romance dialogue, I was thinking "Dammit, I'm getting crushed out there, can I at least get a hug or something?"

It's too bad that we basically had to re-romance her through ME3, especially after basically doing the same thing in Shadow Broker. I loved the dialogue with her in LotSB, and I think it made sense in terms of having been apart for two years. Seemed out of place in ME3 after that, though.

I do think the final couple of dialogues were well done. And from the sound of things, non-Liara people got way less interaction than we did :P

I know it was weird. Although, the game did take into account LotSB - I guess if you didn't play it, she tells you how she became the Broker by herself and Feron ended up dying instead. Then it was like back and forth for a while even though the romance was renewed in LotSB, and confirmed at Mars, and first time on Normandy. Then it was like friends for a while then the Balcony scene on the Citadel put all doubts to rest from that point on. I think it did take into account LotSB at the end when Liara tells Shepard that "all those little blue children" will be disappointed in her not having a speech, which was the same line he used when you re-up the romance in LotSB. I don't know it's just weird, but at the end I was happy with how they shared final words.

Ah, well that makes more sense.

I just thought the plot was developed weird.

I'd like to offer a different angle to this ---

This is not the only bizzare thing you can come across in Mass Effect 3, its just that this one is the most naked of them all. The reason why there are inconsistancies, or for that matter, seemingly non-responsive elements to the game due to what you did in either ME1 or ME2 is the fact that each game is a STAND ALONE GAME - where there are mechanics within
t he dialouge that are basically allowing people who never played the game to make a choice in ME3 and continue on with the plot.

You can do the same thing pretty much with Ashley Williams if you didn't kill her off. When Liara is asking you " Are we together" its a mechanic basically adjusting itself, its not really to change your mind ( although it can be ) its for.... and how should I say this lightly... front-running gammers who pretty much jump on the newest edition of a game because they either don't want to bother with the last games or they feel they'll miss out on something because the lastest edition is the new one everyone is playing.

ME2 was a huge Stand Alone game.

So of course what ever you did in No.1 doesn't make it --- the plot and the writing has been rebooted twice.

Sorry to say that but thats how it is. If your playing this on the PS3 its worse. In that one -- its a --- Oh hey! check this box and this box... and this one.... aaaaand there you go! Start playing Mass Effect woo hooo!!! ( Just don't worry about that ME1 thing... its in the past. Nothing to see. Move on. Move on. ).

It could have been better, it took a long time to even start talking about it also. In the meantime, every other character in the game who could even potentially be a romance where throwing themselves at me left and right with almost no dialogue from Liara.

Hhhhmmmm.

On my game where I imported a file where Shepard had been faithful to Liara all I had to make Shepard say was "Being friends isn't enough" and the romance moved forward.

Hold the line for as long as it takes to get new endings.

Liara is a Beyonce fan. If you like it put a ring on it. Else everything you own to the left.

Yeah I found it weird as well, I mean how many times do I have to say "I want you to be more than a friend" and Liara going "Okay lets be a couple" for her to forget within minutes?

FOUR times over three games i've had to do that, Where was my renegade interrupt to go "**** ARE YOU TRIPPING?!"

I ran into that on one of my characters and was just scratching my head in confusion. I figured it was a glitch, like Conrad Verner thinking you pulled a gun on him in the first game when you didn't.

At least Tali's romance remained consistent... if not almost non-existent after Rannoch. Seriously, you hardly get to talk to Tali at all, it was kind of frustrating.

Yea I think the Devs totally forgot. We were more than alright after the Shadow Broker DLC. But everything else panned out well in the end (except for the ending of course).

I barely noticed the problem. Liara asked me if what tali and I had was in the past. I told her it was and she responded *good I was getting worried* then muttered something about wanting some alone time together later on. Few scenes later I got a nice kiss and she called me a flatterer. Then we get to the citadel. She calls me a good friend * in my eyes doing what alot of girls do which is dance around the issue*. I told her straight up I want her for keeps and the rest was history,

In general ME3 does not seem to have a lot of divergent paths. This is yet another example of there not really being anything divergent.

I didn't mind it. As I remember, in that particular moment in Citadel, she was talking about her life of isolation and lack of friends, so the emphasis on the word 'friends' seemed reasonable there.  After all, lovers are friends too, aren't they  =]

If they fixed the many bugs in her romance it'll be back to perfection, I ignore the bugs as best I can as I love that damned blue girl!

Forever faithful :3

She gets sooo little dialogue compared to the other squaddies... Cortez gets more IMO.

Except for the "two year" comment at the start of the game, my Liara was pretty lovey-dovey

And it doesn't help that you get her so late in the game either. Side quests aside, there are only two missions left before the finale when she finally returns to the Normandy full time.
