The Liara romance fails if you romance her in ME1 and 2.

I ran into that on one of my characters and was just scratching my head in confusion. I figured it was a glitch, like Conrad Verner thinking you pulled a gun on him in the first game when you didn't.

At least Tali's romance remained consistent... if not almost non-existent after Rannoch. Seriously, you hardly get to talk to Tali at all, it was kind of frustrating.

She gets sooo little dialogue compared to the other squaddies... Cortez gets more IMO.

And it doesn't help that you get her so late in the game either. Side quests aside, there are only two missions left before the finale when she finally returns to the Normandy full time.

I would've been depressed if they did that to Garrus. On the contrary, he got TONS of dialogue. <3

There is a bad bug if Ashley died in your game:

The check for "Is it time for new Engineering Deck chat" with Tali or the engineers is accidentally tied to your Ashley friendship status.

As someone who let Ash get Virmire'd, I only got 1 line of chat with Tali in Engineering (right after Rannoch: Reaper Base). After that, nada. It's because of this bug.

I agree. My alternate Shep romanced her and then she talked about being great friends in ME3 and hardly ever mentioned their past relationship. I was like ">.<".

Well Liara is only 108. In human years that's like 18. She thought she and Shepard were just having fun. Liara is nowhere near the matron (or whatever) age where Asari settle down.

Hmm, Ashley died in my game. Maybe that's what happened? I was only friends with her, but still I got no dialogue, just the normal banter and her getting boozed up in the lounge. She did try to hit on Garrus a lot though. :bandit:

I actually agree with OP.

I found it to be a bit bizarre as well. They embrace on Mars (even if it was quickly), to her sitting on my lap and kissing me on the cheek. There is even a dialogue on the Normandy where she asks if there is "still a us" and you say yes. That you wanted to be together...and work it out....

Then on the Citadel she acts like we are just friends. "This is nice, i wish we could hang out more as friends"..lol wut. I mean, I get where they were coming from. But it didn't really match up to the rest of the plot.

Yup. This confused me quite a bit too.

Laziness, they didn't want to bother recording a whole new set of dialogues if you stayed faithful...

yep thats about it, its weird as hell if you been romancing  her since ME1 , all that friends talk and the fact they stay in seperate rooms.

Do we really need to remind people about what the asari have a reputation for in this galaxy?

Yeah, her romance was very poorly handled in ME3 if you were with her in ME1 and 2.

I remember towards the beginning of the game she called Shepard "commander" when saying goodbye during a private conversation. That sort of thing, plus the "just friends" on the Citadel, and the lack of acknowledgment of LotSB altogether make it a very strange and awkward LI path to go down.

It proves how lazy they got, I mean they already got lazy with Tali's face =l

At the time i had assumed that there was a problem with my import  , obviously everybody else has the same peoblem so i'll go with the "Couldn't be bothered to record additional lines for people who stayed faithful" theory.

Dude..Just because they have a reputation don't mean they are all like that, Liara ain't and that is obvious, she loved Shep, Shep loved her, she loved her completely as did Liara back, unless people are just stupid and cheat on Liara then they don't deserve to be with her at all...

I don't know if it's laziness, but I've heard there's a Liara romance bug where she doesn't recognize you're rekindling of the relationship on LotSB, and I saw someone say they're not going to fix it. That disappoints me greatly.

The sad thing is, her romance is probably the one most paid attention to by the writers. The actual love scene, and all the time spent with Liara seems to be higher than 90% of the other romances. And even then, it still feels off.

They really dropped the ball on the romances IMO. Considering this is the final game, and we've spent so much time with these characters. I guess it just goes to show how focused they were on the reaper plot, they kind of put the characters on the back burner.

Yeah at least Garrus got some love from the writers.

Garrus and Tali were always my favorite squad mates in the series. Then it was Mordin, Wrex, Legion and Kasumi. Liara was okay, but I usually just drug her along in the first game because I played a solder and needed a biotic... and Liara was ridiculously overpowered in the first game. I had to shut squad power usage off because Liara kept glitching guys into walls by using singularity at the worst possible times.

So 6 times over the course of 3 years is a lot? That's lower than human nerd batting average, let alone Asari nerd average...

Well, people have claimed it's a bug.

I do admit, having more "wheel" conversations would've been nice. The banter was cool between characters, but when the game started choosing what my Shep would say in response to others... it irked me. Still, there was tons more dialogue with some of my favorite characters (save for Tali) in compairson to ME2.

Also, isn't Liara like the canon romance? I figured that's why she got such a mindblowing lovescene. Garrus didn't get squat, neither did Tali... but that could've been due to alien anatomy. In fact, none of the ME2 romances got much of anything, those who weren't squaddies got diddly squat. Maybe a "fade to black" quicky. Derp derp.

It could be a bug i suppose. This may or may not be related to it but i have had Liara's pops refer to me as her boyfriend/girlfriend in three seperate playthorughs so far.

Miranda, Ashley and Thane may have something to say about that...
