The Liara romance fails if you romance her in ME1 and 2.

In some ways this news about Liara is a relief. i thought she dumped my Shepard because I got ninjamanced by Traynor.

It's a bug, one that got past them. They found it out only now(lazy testers).

^ Too bad... Cheaters deserve to be punished, or at least slapped, or beaten with their own spine by her father...

This just shows how much they rushed ME3. I mean WTF bioware. How do you forget to record lines for one of the most popular characters. This is one of the main complaints I have with the game (besides the endings of course). there just is not enough connection with all the characters. There should be more romance between the characters, more dialogue. This is supposed to be THE END. the last time you will see them all. your going into an impossible battle and all you get from Liara between missions, is 'hello shepard' WTF. How long can it really take to record more DIALOGUE!!! UGH. Refer to my signature to get a better understanding of how I feel.

Although I was faithful to Liara through 1 and 2 and would have liked to have a full blown romance all through 3, realistically that would be too difficult from a dev standpoint. Just like 1 and 2, the romance gets locked in about 2/3 through the game. Before then you have the option of fostering that or saying no and going for someone else. That's just how the romance mechanic works. Would I have liked to have her move into my cabin right after Mars with a sex scene after every mission? Sure. But realistically the only thing I would really like fixed is the one time she says it's been 2 years since we've been together forgetting the post shadow broker romp in my cabin.

Haha! You thought you were platonically joining her in the shower?

Well Traynor showered with the door open and her clothes on. I thought it was like Starship Troopers or something...

Yeah, her romance was very poorly handled in ME3 if you were with her in ME1 and 2.

I remember towards the beginning of the game she called Shepard "commander" when saying goodbye during a private conversation. That sort of thing, plus the "just friends" on the Citadel, and the lack of acknowledgment of LotSB altogether make it a very strange and awkward LI path to go down.

The sad thing is, her romance is probably the one most paid attention to by the writers. The actual love scene, and all the time spent with Liara seems to be higher than 90% of the other romances. And even then, it still feels off.

They really dropped the ball on the romances IMO. Considering this is the final game, and we've spent so much time with these characters. I guess it just goes to show how focused they were on the reaper plot, they kind of put the characters on the back burner.

Well, people have claimed it's a bug.

I do admit, having more "wheel" conversations would've been nice. The banter was cool between characters, but when the game started choosing what my Shep would say in response to others... it irked me. Still, there was tons more dialogue with some of my favorite characters (save for Tali) in compairson to ME2.

Also, isn't Liara like the canon romance? I figured that's why she got such a mindblowing lovescene. Garrus didn't get squat, neither did Tali... but that could've been due to alien anatomy. In fact, none of the ME2 romances got much of anything, those who weren't squaddies got diddly squat. Maybe a "fade to black" quicky. Derp derp.

Yeah, I just meant even the bug aside, the whole Liara romance felt off to me in many ways.

And yeah, it's pretty much believed by fans that Liara is the Canon romance. Still, for many they didn't use Liara. So it seems really disappointing that the other romances in ME3 didn't get a full blown arc in this game.

I just think in general though, the romance in ME3 felt lacking.

Yeah this was a major ball dropper with this Romance. Seriously If you continued your romance in LotSB and then you have to do it all over again. They really screwed up. This is one of the many reasons the entire game fails on so many levels. Not just the ending but just... over all this game fails.

Eh, it worked out fine for the most part...

Her gift in your cabin could have been a bit better, with some acknowledgement to a romance, but it works fine... I will admit it was slightly annoying to have to reaffirm the romance though, as though LOTSB wasn't enough.

*shrugs*

Not at the top of my list of ME 3 gripes, not by a country mile.

Let's hope they'll fix it till the ending DLC is released. Yes, this sounds really optimistic, I know. Many people, including myself, will play the game only then a second time. As far as i've understood it, it is only a problem within the variables of the safegames, so it should be easy to fix this.

I agree, and its stuff like this that made me stop taking LI's seriously in the ME series. This, in addition to the fact that every game seems to push you to cheat on your LI every game since they never include your previous LI in the squad. In ME1, male Shepard usually ends up with Ashley. In ME2, Ashley isn't in the squad, so its either Miranda or Jack. In ME3 Miranda and Jack are gone, so its back to Ashley.

It kind of removes the reward of being faithful to LI's in the game.

I thought it was fine and the question on the citadel seemed appropriate at the time and still does. I don't see the problem.

Laziness, they didn't want to bother recording a whole new set of dialogues if you stayed faithful...

Annnd, thread.

Pure lazyness, they could have recorded, what? Maybe four extra lines, and the entire problem would've been solved. I thought I'd glitched, but apparently not.

If I had a girlfriend that hopped back and forth between calling me a "good friend" and a boyfriend, it'd be confusing as ****. It's probably why Shepard's having those PTSD nightmares.

Could they have added more diaologue? Maybe. Was I happy with how the romance and questions were handled? Yes.

The whole time I wasn't sure if I was in a romance with Liara.

Conversation went like Romance => Friend => Romance => Friend => Waiting Waiting waiting. => did I screw up some where?

Now compare to Samantha, she was hell of a lot easier.

I don't think its unjustified optimism. After all its a bug. Patching bugs post release shouldn't be something to hope for they should just do it

The big disconnect between LotSB and ME3 was my only complaint with the handling of the Liara romance arc.

I didn't think it was a bug until it was later confirmed...I figured it was fairly generic conversation to kind of make things "fit" for folks who played ME3 only (those folks need to be slapped with a fish...seriously, but I digress) and the choices made within that game only...so I was willing to forgive it, and chalk it up to more of her super-cute awkwardness. (^_^)

To me this was perhaps more annoying to me then the ending. The start got me all excited. BW was finally going to do something they had never done. Let me be in a relationship and have that person act like they were in a relationship with me, through the game. I started of thinking all the play throughs id have to do to see the different romances.

Then it went to hell.

It annoyed me too. It felt really odd telling her I wanted to be with her at the start of the game and then having to repeat myself later on because she apparently forgot the conversation we had.

Sure, but i was refering to the highly anticipated ending DLC. And, to be more precisly, an ending DLC which satisfies us enough to replay the game.
