Basic points. The games were a legend told by Stargazer to the child. Because it is set in the long distant past, some details are lost. Like was "The Shepard" male or female. Who he/she knew. Who she/he loved. Did the quarians live? Did the geth? Krogan? Rachni? None of it matters. The end is the only "sure" knowledge. The Citadel existed. The Crucible was involved. And the Reapers were stopped. By one of three methods, providing similar endings.

I'm sure I missed alot, so I recommend reading his post. I honestly think this is what BioWare intended.

Was it a good idea?

In my mind, no. It certainly doesn't give any more inspiration to play the games. It makes me more disappointed.

Still doesn't justify the final 10minutes of a 150+ hour story...

- "And then the Shepard stood still for half an hour instead of going to rescue Ashley"
- "But why?"
- "The Shepard was eating his dinner"

An idiotic way to end the series.

Not at all. That's why we mostly get "fade to black" continuing with "then they woke up" ^^

I think the Stargazer scene is meant to say "Shepard was so awesome we still talk about him 10,000 years from now" rather than "Your entire ME experience was a second-hand account, lol".

Had the ending been less "polarising", it would have been a nice accompniment.

If I payed over 100$ for all three games just to be playing through a story Buzz Aldrin told (badly) to his grandson, I'm going to be so angry.

I'm sorry. Excuse me, sorry. But that's a load of crap. The worse excuse for poor writing ever.

Why do I say this? Well because the entire rest (everything except the last 15 minutes) of these "stories lost in time" is incredibly, breathtakingly, fan-serviceingly detailed. So no dice.

I dont buy it. Bioware has already stated that this would be the end of the Shepards tale, not the ME universe.

Great. So the entire trilogy was a D&D session between two totally uninteresting and forgettable characters? Buzz Aldrin was the dungeon master. Wonderful.

Christ, this gets better and better every day.

Could've sworn I'd heard this kind of twist being used before........but that could just be my imagination. Sounds like a fantastic plot idea.
