In-game logic trumps gameplay any day!

You might be able to slay dragons, kill flemeth, down a thosuand darkspawn in a single sweep.

But you're going to get ****slapped by Cauthrien! In-game logic pwns all. Why sneak into the place anyway, we could've easily murdered everyone and everything in Denerim at that point, bring on the army, we can take it!

Cauthrien is actually a Prothean combat droid who lost her memory.

That's the only explanation.

Nah, she was just holding the Plot Device at that point.

Fortunately it wasn't a powerful Device, not so that you can't beat her anyway.

Cauthrien had daddy issues and never got enough hugs as a child. Sycophants do extra damage to main characters though, well known issue and working as intended.

Revenge is never fair, or logical.

Untrue...revenge can be fair, especially if months or years have passed before you got to exact your revenge.

Love Tim Curray and his sultry voice. I don't know if you could ever do this maybe make a DLC that was diabled after landsmeet for obvious reason but, I was really sad to see how little we got to see of Howe. Unless you did Human noble of course but other than that you had great acting, great character, great story and all you get is well we only killed you because anora asked us to pretty pleasey. Either way compared to all the origin characters that initiated an evil plot.

City elf Vaughan rapist and racist/womanizer
Dalish elf evil, evil mirror!
Dwarf noble political upheaval and betrayal
Dwarf Commoner Jarvia and oppressive caste system
Jowan.....really?
Howe again, amazing story and made me play human noble just for this I just wish you could engage him in areas other than near the end of the game and to do it so randomly meh. If it wasn't for howe's mages we wouldn't have even killed him!

City elf gets to hate Howe's guts too, for oppressing her family and friends.

Originally I had Howe figured to be the Archdemon in disguise, or at least one of its agents. I was rather disappointed that he turned out to be just a power hungry despot.

I really wanted to use those torture devices in Howe's dungeon on Howe. Oh well.

I wish there was an option that you could spare him but he would have to support you during the landsmeet and he would be able to keep his title as Arl of Denerim and perhaps serve as an advisor.

Yes he really did deserve more. More pain

YOU DON'T KILL THE KID WITH THE SWORD OF TRUTHINESS! YOU BASTARD!

i really really hated him for that....

Really if Oren and his mom were left alive...my need to inflict more pain on him would be sooo much less.

It's only really so because the game only gives us one outcome to Howe - he dies.
In a real world situation I'd settle for destroying the one thing Howe ever cared about, his family, in front of his beady eyes. Anything else, including hornets, is optional..

Except in the game, as it turns out, his family is completely innocent.  I don't think that killing his family would have as much of an effect on him as stripping him of his power and imprisoning him really.  And what kind of satisfaction would you actually get from slaughtering innocents, no matter their relation to the person who wronged you?

And I liked how they did my revenge as a human noble.  I wanted more satisfaction, as I'm sure my character did as well - but the reality is there really ISN'T more satisfaction.  You could torture him until your blue in the face, but in the end you'll still feel empty.  ...wouldn't have minded him bleeding out a little slower though.

Even the execution of Loghain wasn't as satisfying as I'd hoped (as the PC).  Turns out it was just a necessary thing - but I don't know that my PC really "enjoyed" killing him, especially in front of his daughter.  But yeah, my PC thoroughly enjoyed the prospect of killing Howe.

I wanted the option to forgive Howe and to marry Delilah and gradually have him warm up to me.

***10 years later, Arl Howe's birthday***
PC: Happy Birthday DAD! Please have some sausages."
Howe: "OH wow my favorite! OM NOM NOM"
Howe: "Oh you have made me so so happy, but I deserve more!"
PC: "Here you go..."
PC lifts serving platter revealing Delilah's severed head.

The Arl's expression of joy quickly turns to bewilderment before contorting to disgust. He wretches uncontrollably, spewing barely digested meat chunks this way and that. His lanky frame dashes ungracefully for the exit while he alternates between dry heaving and coughing bile which dribbles from his chin and nose. Seconds later he feels a sharp pain shoot through the back of his neck down his spine. At the same moment a similar pain wracks his right ankle, while the heavy force contacting his neck and back knocks him to the ground. The force of his face hitting the paving stones knocks his top front teeth cleanly out, filling his mouth with warm blood. As his head and leg are being pulled and torn at mercilessly a sudden moment of clarity washes over him. Rendon Howe is being eaten alive by Mabari.

Still, he granted Orens wish of seeing a blade real up close.

I wanted more from the villains. More Tim Curry for the people!

My female noble had really hoped that she would be able to slaughter his family, burn his palace to the ground, cut of some limbs (Fingers, toes, that other thing..) and throw him in a tiny, windowless cell, forever kept alive by the best apostate the royal family's money could buy. Bioware really did it this time - A villain I truly hate.

Warden: After this Howe, I'm going to slit the throats of your wife and daughter.

Howe: Isn't that precious? Is this where I lament the monster I helped create? Let me show you how it's done: I made your mother kiss my feet before she died, it was the last thing your father saw. Meet my sword, and change that.

Revenge is best served cold. You do not kill Howe - you make sure he survives and his family with him. Then you use your influence with the King or Anora if you chose her to strip Howe of everything: estates, wealth, name. You erase his family from the books of Ferelden. Then you set him loose with nothing but the clothers on his and his family's backs. And finally you forbid any noble to give him succour.

The added bonus is to warn the nobility about the hazards of rebellion.

I like how Howe seems to turn at least 3/4 of the human nobles into himself. He is impressive.
