Hello, I've downloaded and installed the toolset, even though I have no experience or interest in modding, and this was for the express purpose of looking at the dialogue in the game.

As I understand it this is supposed to be done with the Stringeditor, but when i open it in the toolset I cannot figure out for the life of me how to access the game's files.

I know that the game dialogue is stored under 2 files called core.tlk and singleplayer.tlk

But it seems the stringeditor doesn't recognise those formats.

could anyone help? Is this supposed to even be doable or is the core campaign dialogue supposed to be protected from editing ?

p.s. I know the .tlk files can be read by a plain editor but the individual lines do not have a context and I presume online the toolset can place them into context via their string ids.

I'm not sure it's possible at the moment, as the campaign files are all locked for now. But I don't actually know, so this is more of a friendly bump. ^_^

.tlk files are the files used for internationalization: they simply contain the language-specific text of the game. Different countries' games will have different .tlk files. What you're looking for are the conversation files. The conversation editor shows the lines stored in the .tlk files in a tree so you can follow the flow, or context as you put it.

I don't know if the main campaign's conversations have been released yet.

thank you very much. I will have to assume then just as everyone has said that the relevant files haven't been released by Bioware yet and wait for a later time.
