Can you use it in game?

edit: for people wondering, the OP had made a thread commenting on the lack of LMGs in ME and said they would make one, they did and posted it.

Is that just an M249? Cause if not, it looks way too much like it

from the looks of it. as for the looks of it, it definitely looks like a LMG which is no good in the ME universe. where the heck am i suppose to put the thermal clip? and where is the large obnoxious hump on the top where the bullets come out of?

Nope, it's not. I agree, though. It does look like your average-bear RL LMG.

It doesn't look like it can fold up.

I want my foldy guns.

Looked up some pics right after I posted that and noticed there were some differences. Still, as you said, looks way to similar to LMG's of our time to make it into Mass Effect.

Very nice design. My critiques would be to lose the handle on the barrel as imo, it's making the design a bit to modern and not really "sci-fi" enough.

also, I'm not really sure if it's within the realm of possibility with the program you built this in, but if you could make a collapsing animation for this like other ME weapons have it would really sell it.

Nice work. That looks awesome! Not very Mass Effect-y though IMO.

It looks way to 'present time'. Doesn't have a futuristic sci fi look at all, in my opinion. Still, nice job. Just not appropriate for the universe. Also are those bullets? They can't be heatsinks.

Not Mass Effect-e enough. Looks too much like a modern day LMG.

From my understanding of the design intent in the LMG thread, those are indeed thermal clips. The idea I think was to have a weapon that could automatically reload thermal clips allowing a more powerful weapon to be fired faster.

It would probably help if the OP included such design thoughts in the original post to clue us into such things as out of context the belt fed magazine is very out of place in the ME universe.

Also.. even though the concept of an LMG is rather distant from the concept of most weapons in Mass Effect.. considering the concept of thermal clips and heat sinks.. wouldn't it just have a band of thermal clips, and the box itself would probably just be some sort of cooling mechanism, essentially giving it infinite clips, while retaining the limited amount of shots per thermal clip?

Seems like that would fit the lmg concept a little more.

Why is there bullets? Mass Effect usually doesnt use bullets but really small paint chip sized pieces of metal shot at super fast speeds.

A few suggestions for making the weapon more fitting to the ME setting:

- Add a second barrel in an over-and-under configuration
- More curves and slopes to make the gun less boxy
- Meld the carry handle into the weapon (ME guns tend to be bulky, so don't be afraid to build more gun around the carry handle, and then integrate the second barrel or a scope into the additional segment)

I like it. For those saying its not mass effecty enough, then view it as a faction created weapon or something. The Vorscha powerhouse machine gun!
