It doesn't look like it can fold up.

I want my foldy guns.

I agree, the more moving parts the better.

I assume it's modeled after the M240B, so just a note - the dark gray thing on the barrel is a hand guard/heat shield (to protect from accidentally burning oneself on the very hot barrel during barrel changes, as well as helping to dissipate heat), and is a sorta clip-on thing on the barrel itself, the receiver stops back further. I know you're not going for a direct modeling, but that's just the reason that squared part is even there, otherwise it's just the length of barrel (look at the 240G for comparison).

This gun was made for my previous project. a secret game, i can tell you it was based in 2042. i left the project due to the downright bullying of lower-skill modelers(such as me). those are indeed thermal clips, thermal clips hold generally 30 week bullets or 15 strong ones, and as such, this links them together, and has 7 thermal clips for 100 bullets(5 bullet worth kept in reserve for emergancy overheat)
then you replace the box.

Also, my modelling software is getting all weird while working on this, so i need to pop a question in blender support, but it might take a few days, anyone that wants the .obj file(glitchy) or the .blend (best) file may have it. aslong as they do not reproduce it .

There are no "bullets" in thermal clips, you could say they contain "shoots" bu not bullets. >:

What happen to the sketch ? The one that was pretty much build on the base of the mattock ?

Looks like a weird cross between an M240B and an M60.

A few suggestions for making the weapon more fitting to the ME setting:

- Add a second barrel in an over-and-under configuration
- More curves and slopes to make the gun less boxy
- Meld the carry handle into the weapon (ME guns tend to be bulky, so don't be afraid to build more gun around the carry handle, and then integrate the second barrel or a scope into the additional segment)

QFT .

What i would recommend is you look at art for falcon  and other n7 weapons and work on that if you want an alliance feel.

If not an alliance feel but still ME universe then you need to lose some of the current day weapon style points you have included like picatinny rails.

Decent work,

Here's some info that might help:

Mass Effect guns have the following components (traditional ones anyway)

Central Block of Metal to shave off "bullets" for ammunition

Thermal Clip station where a Thermal Clip (Hot-swapped within a magazine type holder) is inserted to channel away heat.

There is a central chamber for each bullet where a mass effect field is generated to raise/lower the weight of the bullet in preparation of being shot.

* There is no traditional bullet/magazine type loading system. Instead, one mechanism shaves off bullets, another generates the mass effect field, the propulsion is either by mass effect or chemicals.

That said, beyond these nitpicky type details which would show that the gun is actually from the mass effect world and not our own, it's decent work.

Hi there, that's some pretty cool modelling on your last few posts. If I could contribute, I would say that if you made the weapon slightly more compact, eg shorten the barrel a bit, it would make the weapon feel more futuristic, ala mass effect.

Also, I'd say making the belt container more "Solid" rather than the "bag" you've got now, would make it seem more rough and tough, which would complement the style of the weapon.

Some great work there, makes me hope Bioware would look at it.

The concept doesn't fit into the lore of Mass Effect. It was already discussed in your OTHER thread about this topic and was discussed in THIS thread as well. So just stop. Please.

In his defence, he did indeed say that the belt shown housed thermal clips. Therefore, as he went further into the design a few posts back it should fit fine into lore, even if the belt could use a bit more detail.

The gun is too small. Sure you've got a belt of thermal clips, but where is the ammo block? Where is the power source? Even the M8 looks far chunkier and it holds one thermal clip and one ammo block along with its power source. It makes sense in modern world where the projectile and energy source are all in one small unit (the bullet) - but where each thing is seperate you have to ask where all that stuff is. The aesthetics just don't fit the universe.

If you're gonna use multiple thermal clips from an in-lore perspective a multi-chamber/multi-barrel weapon makes far more sense - you could have it fire like a gatling weapon (sans-rotation - just have a projectile fire sequentially from each chamber). The Talon is described as working in this way to increase fire rate and aid head dissapation, so the lore is already there.

You need a concept. You don't have one, and the gun looks too modern as a result.

ME guns are collapsible, and generally almost childlike.

I've made some rough concept art:
http://desmond.image....jpg&res=medium

Try making a new model with that.

My own concept is not fully realised - its too rounded, could do with being more square, and its only 2D (I imagine a 3D one would look superior).

ME also uses lots of rounded edges. See if you can keep things smooth, except perhaps the areas around the collapsible sections.

Last post is right in that it would help a lot to have a concept. However i think you would be a lot better off creating your own to follow. The core of the weapon is a lot better now.

With that im mind i would say a really good idea if you have a printer or graphics tablet is to do draw overs of a side view render of what you have. If you can have some me weapon concept art to hand to help keep it in the ME style it will be an advantage for you.

The most important thing you can do from a 'process' perspective is draw a few variations, then pick the one you think looks most appropriate beside the other in game weapons. Look for themes in the ME weapons, like the solidity of them, how stocks connect to the main bodies of those weapons. etc.

As for breaking with lore, a thing to keep in mind is that every mass effect 2 weapons broke the lore of 1 when they had to be reloaded in any way shape or form. Lore is a dev tool as much as a rule.  So since you are doing this for fun feel free to ignore it.

Needs to be more like that plasma rifle on quake and doom 3. Phew phew phew phew. The look is not futuristic enough, looks like a machine gun I can buy in a store 3 blocks away.
