Uhmm the belt fed bullets is wrong round your eyes better get rid of that grip on you can't have it feed thermal clips like that.. Then how would you reload?

The concept doesn't fit into the lore of Mass Effect. It was already discussed in your OTHER thread about this topic and was discussed in THIS thread as well. So just stop. Please.

why? because the first attempt always has to be the best? look at concept art bro

I'm thinking that instead of a belt fed mechanism it would use custom thermal clips? Say instead of the single thermal clips that the avenger, etc use the LMG's would use 4 thermal clips bound in a single "box".

Alternatively it could have a passive thermal clip cooling mechanism, allowing it to act somewhat like the guns in ME1, squeezing more shot from a single thermal clip.

In any case my interpretation of a ME LMG weapon isn't done, just throwing around ideas.

My idea was it had 4 or 5 thermals, clipped together, so it fired one clip and then automatically fed the new one in, then the box would be replaced with a new one, due to speed, then you manually put the new belt in , just like a modern day LMG.

Here's my take on it. I figure an LMG in the ME verse would normally be a full auto varient of the heavy assault rifle, since the machine gun niche is generally filled with the large stationary guns(which still need manual reloading).

I've gone less for uber practicality and more for "make it look like a MEverse weapon".

Yes yes yes, a million times yes! I would pay $5 for this weapon in multiplayer.

I even came up with a backstory and some tech fluff for it, see the final thing on my DeviantArt here.

I called it the MR-9 Storm.

Belt fed with a huge box magazine and a carrying handle? I don't think you know much about guns in the Mass Effect universe...

it's NOT even a mass effect weapon. Most weapons in mass effect world are mass drivers, using shaver to create thousands of ammunition from a small piece of metal. Your work showing modern ammo belt it''s obsolete in the perspective of mass effect universe and it sure isn't designed to use thermal clips.
And it looks like a SCAR + RPK + M240 hybrid. Not very original.

The only issue I have with your design is the placement of the integral 3x scope.  If your weapon is designed to be fired from the shoulder, either in a supported position or in a standing unsupported position, the current placement of the scope would put it somewhere near your ear.

The scope optics need to be slightly forward of the trigger.  Your hand will be just forward of your chin/nose while holding this at your shoulder, so having the scope just above and slightly forward of the pistol grip puts it in front of your eye.

Other than this one issue, I like it.  Nicely done.

I mention in the other thread that I'd have a concept upload by Friday.
It's Friday.
I think I may have skipped LMG and gone straight to HMG with that though.

I have another concept for a smaller weapon, but ::Photobucket::. I'll try again tonight.

I lack the "Artisitc Integrity" of the Bioware team, so I'm changing the design to incorperate feedback.

How's this one? I moved the scope forward and added a readout screen to fill the empty void at the rear.

I use Cinema 4D for 3D modelling and Photoshop CS4 for concept art.  Or SPACE MAGIC?:wizard:

That thing looks amazing. Also as a few other suggested originally in the thread about the OP's weapon, maybe draw up a folded version as well?

And the only idea I can come up with to improve anything is the foregrip, you might want to round it a bit more, those edges don't look very comfortable to hold. :P

Maybe you should use the titled scope thing back where the ammo display is, and use a holographic ammo display.
