That thing looks amazing. Also as a few other suggested originally in the thread about the OP's weapon, maybe draw up a folded version as well?

And the only idea I can come up with to improve anything is the foregrip, you might want to round it a bit more, those edges don't look very comfortable to hold.

I don't think a LMG should be collapsible, at least, not to any significant extent, similar to how the revvy doesn't collapse.

I think I made the weapon as compact as it could really be, although I guess the stock could fold in.

Yeah the fore grip looks sharper than it is, it's actually more like the rounded corner of a LCD monitor.

Maybe you should use the titled scope thing back where the ammo display is, and use a holographic ammo display.

I dunno. I quite like the inset blue screen. It's quaint.

I tried a holo display and didn't really like it.

I love this gun :) KUDOS ! It reminds me of the Halo MA5B assault rifle a bit, with that readout and all :)

Last I checked the Revenent collapses quite a bit. Sitll a huge as heck on your characters back.

No where near as much as an Avenger or other weapons: i.imgur.com/oxnrM.jpg
Still collapses the stock, barrel, handle, and the "carry handle area."

Main reasoning is it jsut mostly fits with the mythos, because up until now every weapon has had some degree of collasibility. At least enough that when it son the users back it the gun's length doesn't go past the waist.

I tried collapsing it. Doesn't really make it much smaller.

edit: for people wondering, the OP had made a thread commenting on the lack of LMGs in ME and said they would make one, they did and posted it.

the M-76 is a LMG, But no one seems to understand so.

Second concept uploaded. It's here. Please note, I picked M-9 before the MR-9 was posted, so I wasn't able to change the sketch. The number can be changed anyway, it's not terribly important.

The latest one looks distinctly more Mass Effecty, but I'm not sold on the scope. The scope needs to be smaller, as it is that scope is probably the size of the M-9 Tempest.

I think making it collapsable would mean having to reduce it's micro mass accelarator, thus just making it another assault rifle.  Anyways, great concept.

I'd use it. Looks freaking sweet! I'm guessing instead of a ammo box of 21st century ammunition it holds belt fed thermal clips? NICE!

I don't know. The scopes in game now have always struck me as quite small, particularly on assault rifles. The one in the sketch is roughly the same size as the gun's handgrip, by the way.

I might sketch a better version over the next few days, I think the gun needs to be a bit longer anyway. I'll see what I can do about the scope then.

First off, the design. It's far too 20th-21st century for Mass Effect, and the weapons use Thermal Clips, those hanging bullets on the sides doesn't work.

And yes, wrong section.

Did you actually read the thread apart from the OP? It's explained (several times) that those are thermal clips, not bullets.

Shazam!

I made the gun longer, changed the M-9 designator to M-10, modified the scope, added a selector panel, added an ammo block access panel, and removed the bipod (not too happy about this, but eh, it's closer to AR size so it shouldn't be too heavy).
(side note: why yes, this gun is Halo's MA5C and BR55 stuck together with N7 decals and a relocated magazine)

I also redid the M-60C Broadsword. It's a little smaller and more streamlined now, but it retains the lift assist rails, so it can keep the scope-only-in-cover-by-mounting mechanic, which the M-10 can't do thanks to the removal of the bipod.

The Broadsword looks silly with a scope since it's an unslug minigun. Design is fairly cool, although the angular look is more Turian than Human.

The M-10 looks very haloy, the scope could be awkward to access as it's quite some way infront of the grip. Extended barrel gets in the way of your bayonet. Remove the bayonet, Mass Effect AR's don't have them.

Good designs anyhow.

Good points! I've updated the designs (highlights: M-10 bipod returns, Broadsword is now an LMG not an HMG), and done a Geth Plasma SAW design, but unfortunatly my scanner is out of commission for a while, so I haven't been able to upload them yet.

New scanner! It's awesome.

M-10
M-60C
GPSAW

There's an annotation missing from the M-60C image (I penciled it, but forgot to do it with the marker, then erased it before realising): The panel that appears to replace the handgrip is one side of a three-panel guard that you sort of slide your hand into to reach the handgrip.

That's the bag with the rest of the thermal clip belt in.

Looks like a cross between your modern combat shotgun, a M246 SAW, with some kind of thickened extendable stock and a... bipod attachment?

Could make a cool Krogan weapon, with some modifications of course.

The Mass Effect universe's weapons use termal clips to avoid overheating and Mass Fields to accesselerate whatever the weapon is fireing. For example the thanix cannon is accesselerating superheated molten meta with eezo fields to deal tons of damage.

Though your work looks quite good it looks like a modern military weapon and not one of the Mass Effect Universe. Use the ME wiki/codex for reference and do a litte rework :D
