Tali, Liara, Miranda

The real reason we are where we are

Care to break that down for me? I am just curious where this logic comes from?

Tali-Brings you the evidence you need to convince the council that Saren has gone rogue, which in turn means you can get promoted to the rank of spectre, meaning you can hunt down Saren and his allies. Without her there'd be no evidence, no spectre rank for you, no hunting down Saren=Saren/Sovereign succeed in openning the portal for the Reaper fleet, which results in a quick and painful death for our cycle.

Liara-Saves your body from the Collectors, brings it to Cerberus and is therefor one of the reasons you are back in ME2 to save the day once more.

Now, Miranda should be switched with TIM. Yes, Miranda oversaw the Lazarus project, but only thanks to TIM was she part of Cerberus in the first place and only thanks to TIM was there a project in the first place. (this last point is debatable though, the first 2 however are not)

You upsale Tali's single point of importance and downplay Liara's many points. I am just saying, it is becoming a pattern with Tali fans. Most of Talimancers posts come from an inferiority mentality. S'all I'm sayin.

Liara and Tali both have only a single point of importance, one allows Shepard to stop Saren, the other one is responsible for his revival. And I was simply explaining the reason Tali was important because for one I assumed you genuinely were curious and didn't know why, and second I assumed you already know the full extent of what Liara had to go through to retrieve Shepards body to get him revived.

I never got the Liara thing too. Don't they realize that their 6 blue children will be soul sucking, life ending AY babies (Liara is a pureblood)? Think of all the lives you'll be saving...

Uh, no.  You only see Ardak Yakshi's when Pure Bloods mate with purebloods.  So, Liara and Shepard's little blue children would not, in fact, be Ardat Yakshi's.  They would, on the other hand, be 1/8th Krogan, which makes them AWESOME.

No, according to the codex and the wiki, daughters of pureblood create AY (Genetic defect) mating with anyone, but on that same logic I am pretty sure that if two purebloods mate you will definetly get AY (like playing Roulette with a revoler loaded with 6 bullets)

Where id the 1/8 krogan from? Has you FemShep been tapping Wrex/Wreve/Grunt and polluting your pool?

By your logic every Asari on Thessia pre-spaceflight would be an AY. By that logic, all Asari would be dead.

Miranda was busy unearthing what was going down at sanctuary while ashley was still deciding whether to shoot you or udina.

Miranda was key to bringing shep back. Theres a vid at the cerberus base that shows that the previous lead scientist didnt even know where to start. Tim put miranda in there and the job got done.

Liara's mothers = Benezia & Aethyta.

Aethyta's parents = a former Asari commando and a Krogan

I found her to be interesting in ME1, a bit different in ME2, but not being able to advance her story until the dlc made it all the more rewarding when you finally get to do the LotSB dlc.  Then in ME3 she was kind of forgetable.  I found myself eavesdropping on my boyfriend's romance with Tali.  Seemed much more emotional and touching.

I am determined to have fun with this whole "my LI is better than your LI thing".

Call me inquisitive.

Here is what I observe. Ashley fans hate Miranda fans with a passion and vice versa, and then Tali fans hate Liara fans, but not vice versa. You never see many threads saying "OMGZ Liara is better than Tali!", but you will see the random Tali fan in just about every LI related thread saying how much they feel Tali is better than the others. That points to an inferiority complex about your character given some of her fans need to always tout how much they like her better.

Maybe they're just hurt about the content or lack thereof in ME3, or maybe that she can die and now they genuinely feel intimidated by the Liara romance and fans.

To each his own, but I find it laughable that the Tali fans feel the need to do that. It is both sad and hilarious.

Admittedly, I haven't been all that active in the forums lately (prior to the whole ending debacle), but the last time I checked forums, Tali was the one who was receiving tons of hate, and mostly by Miranda fans. I remember all those character polls (favourite, most hated etc). The comment section was always full of Tali hate and people who defended her.

And yes, I am a bit dissapointed at how they handled Tali in 3, that doesn't mean I would feel intimidated by or feel any hatred towards Liara. I like her, actually. The whole "my LI is better than yours" is pretty stupid anyway. Everyone has their own opinion, and I certainly don't approve of anyone trying to force a character/romance in others people's faces, be it Liaramancers, Talimancers or god knows what.

Oh I understand. I am not saying you specifically, I am really referencing the "talimancer" fanbase as a whole pretty much. Of course there are some civilized ones like yourself it seems, but the ones I come across... Oh boy!

I'll make it simple for you: because they're the romanceable aliens who are quasi-human in appearance, as opposed to the two lead female humans. Thus a "rivalry" develops more easily.

And maybe I'm not a model for everyone, but I don't "hate" Liara or her fans, I just think that Tali had superior writing backing her up and is therefore a more interesting, believable characetr.

I would love to argue that point with you, cause I see absolutely nothing regarding the Tali romance that is cute or "better" in the writing department than Liara's. But as you said that part will be largely subjective anyway.

Meh. She's cute, but nothing special. Asari are probably one of my least favorite races.

Again, I think she's cute. I think Tali's cute. I doubt I'd ever romance them.
Edit: Plus, asari and quarians don't have the childbearing hips I like on my women.
Miranda likes to pretend she does, but she fails heroically at that. Her ass is so... unreal looking.

And if I could blow up Miranda with Ashley, I would. Dislike them both so hardcore.

Of course it does, but I didn't need to get emotionally invested to know that she was my favorite. I knew it as soon as I started interacting with Liara.

My point though is that you left a bunch of stuff out as far as Liara's key importance points. She does far more than rescue Shepards body. For one, although Tali gave evidence, Liara was literally the only squadmate that could have uncovered Ilos as their destination at the end of ME1. I'd say that is very huge

Not true at all, I'd say the same about the Tali thread, and OMG were you there post ME2. THat was the scariest place on the BSN. Either way, the Liara thread is one of the most calmest, serene places on the BSN and I am NOT being bias. True story.

Zardoc you say that Liara helped stop saren but she had a much bigger role, without her the cycle would have started, it's not just a saren thing, it was a reaper thing, Tali helped shep to revoke saren specter status but even without tali's help shep would have been able to stop saren and sovereign.

I was trying to romance her, but I just can't get into her character. Why do all you people love her? Like what special trait does she have that makes you want to romance her?

Note: I've romanced a bunch of characters throughout the series. Just not Liara. Once I came here, I was flooded by all the Liara images, blue baby references, and what not. So it made me wonder. Why does everyone love her?

Well, I tried romancing her in 3 after not doing so in 1 and, while you can do so, it left a lot to be desired. But if you start with her in 1, the story is sweet at times and sexy in others. It's pretty cool, IMO.

Liara's character has grown up a lot over the course of the trilogy. She is the equivalent of a very naive teenager or college student in ME1. She becomes hardened and even a little jaded in the ME2, in part because of what she goes through to recover your body (not in game but covered in comics, apparently). ME3 seems to find her striking something of a balance between these two extremes.

The simple way to say all this is that we as players have had the chance to watch her grow up. Add that they made her form humanoid and beautiful and the fact Ali Hillis makes her sound sweet, loving and kind -- that makes for a very appealing LI for many.

ETA: These same traits also make her insufferable to certain hard cases here at the BSN. Posted Image

Lack of options.... Dur. You have the ****y Ashley or Liara. Liara doesn't really have a personality in ME1, but at least she doesn't have one that makes you want to shoot her twice. Later your options are the slightly smarter but equally ****y Miranda, and Tali, who has even less personality than Liara did in ME1. Besides, Quarians are ****s. So yea. Comes down to lack of options.

Well post ME3 ending, I can say you might have a small argument there. Yet, from my observation, I go to the Liara thread when all H3ll breaks loose on the BSN and its a haven.
