they force her into you face whether you like it or not.....all that being said though she is very nice towards people, and understandable, unlike others who shall not be named *cough*ash*cough* and that just makes me see her as one of sheps best friends, someone to talk to, like garrus. romance? no, don't see it at all. I think she would fit with javik
How to love Liara?

A lot of people didn't like her character after she changed from being "innocent" to "ruthless" but I have to disagree a lot happened to liara in the events between me1 - me2 Liara developed as a character and became more mature. She was only being ruthless for a good cause ( saving feron, taking down shadow broker)

Jack's romance was a Purgatory bathroom scene short from perfect.

You cannot just "choose" a LI in this game

just choosing a character because everybody else does it stupid.
You have to choose for yourself
This is why I never romanced her myself. Although I kind of wish you could start a new relationship with her in LotSB since Kaidan was busy pouting that you are with Cerberus.

As I mentioned in one of my blogs (linked in my signature) the ME series (ending aside) is remarkably well written and the characters very well, and realistically, developed. This results in people actually genuinely feeling for them. Happiness, sadness, anger, even love. You can't "choose" how you feel about the various people you meet in Mass Effect, you just feel that way.

Precisely all the reasons why I didn't romance her. To me her character didn't feel real, she was too perfect, so I romanced Ashley instead. Sure, Ash is a real **** at times and she was annoying at parts in ME3, but she had flaws and those flaws made her feel more real as a character.
I honestly can't think of any real flaws Liara had, she was a bit of a mary sue.

(for reference: Garrus goes from disheartened cop to vigilante wannabe with the Dr. Saleon story in ME1, you catch up to its consequences in ME2 when he's Archangel and has fresh dren to handle because of Sidonis, how you handle Sidonis ultimately settles what sort of person you view him as in ME3 (haven't checked yet whether it actually affects how HE acts, like not recruiting him in ME1 or letting/not letting him kill Saleon did for ME2) - is he a cop out of his league with delusions of grandeur or is he a battle-hardened bro or is he a cute cuddly alien reptile feline thing you just want to hug and whisper that everything is going to be okay to?)
And yes, Tali is also adorkable, but in a different way. She's more emotional, because that's the way her race goes, and for her kind intimacy is a treasure, and intimacy with someone not of her race is an aberration to be ashamed of, unlike the asari for whom the reverse is in force (which brings up more about Liara and her character if you stop to dwell on it)
(And yes yes, we are all aware that both of these dorks are girls and non-humans and they both will swoon over your Shepard regardless of your gender unless you were a total fekkik to them in ME2. So will Kaidan, and so might Garrus (even if you're a guy!) if you're friendly enough. But guess what. Humans do that sort of stuff IRL all the time!)
But, in a word? Adorkable.
Just like Ashley, she has a rigid worldview. Recruit her after Virmire, look at that tantrum when she learns of the Cipher. Look at her frustration with Javik, her preconceptions of the Protheans smashed into hilariously tiny pieces. She recovers from all of that, and it IS a sign of good writing that it's all done in a rather believable way.I honestly can't think of any real flaws Liara had, she was a bit of a mary sue.
She's also an ethnic minority among her people, though it doesn't really play much into focus outside of fridge horror and her talking to Aethyta in ME3.

exactly, Liara grew on me over a couple of hours of ME1 (2007), never looked back since...

I never got the Liara thing too. Don't they realize that their 6 blue children will be soul sucking, life ending AY babies (Liara is a pureblood)? Think of all the lives you'll be saving...
Actually, AY are, as far as i know, pureblood. If one or both of their parents are pureblood then bigger the risk is.
It´s much like real-life inherital diaseases and syndromes where inbreeding furthers the risk of a person being born with said ailments.
