While I do agree that N7 is no indicator of merit. I must concede that it is, a shorthand substitute to indicate familiarity/experience with the game.

Realistically though, if I were to do pug Gold/Silver and I see bunch of people with rating less than 30, with no redeeming gear, I will bail out.

You guys are aware that promoting is pretty much pointless outside epeen right?
I'm only 150 because I've promoted once given the lack of incentives to promote.

However, I've played over 200 gold matches at this point and guarantee that there are players with N7 of 400 who have less experience than I do, and likewise, players with N7 lower than mine who have probably played twice as many gold games.

N7 really is meaningless unless you actively promote and like re leveling characters.

2 men on Gold. Nearly 200k points. Only used 1 rocket.

Get on my level.

Your E-peen is so massive I cannot even bear it.

You are the exact type of player that every online-multiplayer community hates.

I am N7 400+ and I can guarantee that I will outperform anyone using an equal level class and race. Solely on the fact that I know more about the game than they do, from doing things for so much longer. I know exactly where enemies spawn based on your current location, I know exactly where each enemy type likes to take cover, and I know exactly how to do objectives.

N7 level... Heh, I'm level 240 xD I just promote for the fun of it. There's something satisfying in going back to level 1 charries and bringing them back up to peak condition again. But not everyone with a high N7 level is a jerk, and not every low N7 player is a victim of ignorance and/or trolling. N7 doesn't matter when it comes to mannerless nut-jobs and narcissistic psychos.

I haven't completed a gold match all night because of people with high N7 levels but no skill.

They must have got that high from bronze matches.

 Don't judge a spectre by his N7 rating :)

I usually look beyond the rating. What class is the person using? Is he switching class to fit the team/faction/map? Is he using the appropriate loadout. The rank of the weapons?

THIS.

Of course, if I meet you in a bronze match I don't give a crap about what level you are.

i love how cocky some of these players are with high n7 rating. mine is 180 i promoted with two classes and will not do it again. n7 doesnt mean absolutely anything past about 70. i have outscored level 700+ players and been outscored by level 40s before. what matters the most is the class/guns being used or if they have a mic and are fun to talk to. honestly some people in this forum need to realize that it is a game and is around solely for the enjoyment of the people playing it. i get it if your competetive but if this keeps up the so far positive online ME community is going to be no better than CoD with everyone cussing at eachother due to their level and gun preference

Who can't do White with a Decoy upstairs and a Decoy downstairs?  You don't need rockets when the baddies are humping your Decoys all match.

I'm sorry, but if you think your screenshot proves anything about your skill, you're not nearly as good as you think you are.

We had three 400+ N7s and an Asari with N7 150 and a Carnifex VIII and things went fine.  But I agree that people N7 grinding Silver are a problem.  If someone with high N7 doesn't have correspondingly leveled weapons, that's the signal you're looking for that gives away a Silver player.

Even that can be a fairly bad way to judge. My Widow and Carnifex are fairly low leveled because Spectre Packs want to give me everything else, especially Krogan Sentinels.

I think I could make an army of Krogan Sentinels at this point.

It's the only way to judge me though.
Since my N7 has been at 120 for awhile and will be til next weekend's event.
Promoting is just silly to me

Fools see my Widow V and Paladin II and know I mean business .

I see your Widow V and am filled with hatred for my poor luck with the RNG =P

Though generally if they're using the proper weapons, I'm fine with it even if it's not levelled up.

Just as long you aren't an asari adept trying to bring a Claymore and a Revenant.

I don't care what N7 level you have.

If you detonate one of my Biotic explosions with your stupid energy drain or think equipping Warp rounds with three adepts or sentinels in your team is a good idea is when I start ragequitting people.

Everyone is equally a stupid-doo-doo head until proven otherwise. Everyone would do well to think if you can't slap the person upside the head that they're a moron until proven otherwise.

Most times I'm pleasantly surprised. Sometimes I'm not. D:

I used to be N7 20 for a quite long time (until I tested what promotion actually does), now I'm at 70 after leveling Adept too. And I do pug Gold runs with random settings...

I feel bad becasuse I'm N7 120-ish and play a salarian engi for now. I always try to revive (and use the mic to tell people I'm getting there), and try to support the team. Usually I go after the objectives (if there is no infiltrator) do stuff.
And now I'm a d*ck by the people with lower N7 rating and a d*ck by the higher N7? That's great.

The N7 rating should be based on how many successful extractions you make.

1 point for Bronze
2 points for Silver
3 points for Gold

Multiply x 0 for failed extraction (you all died after all)
Multiply x 1 for partial extraction
Multiply x 2 for full extraction

10 points = 1 N7 point

1 Star is awarded for each class promotion and with 2 stars you get a rare weapon. 4 stars you get an ultra rare.

Now THAT would have been a better N7 rating system imho. More complicated but would at least give an idea as to the experience of a player. Dunno what to do about the AFK gits though.

Argue all you want, but a high N7 rating means the player has played a lot. Doesn't mean he/she'll be better than a low rating N7 but the chances are greater that he/she will be, and some people aren't willing to take that chance however small it may be.

I said it before and I'll say it again. If I come and revive you it's because I could do it without getting downed in the process. I don't expect you to come and revive me if it'll get you killed. If you're dumb enough to come revive me when enemies are in slaughter distance don't expect me to stop and revive you instead of getting the hell out to help who ever else is still up. I try to revive other players but sometimes I seem to pull major aggro and enemies on the other side of the map even leave the targets they're about to kill alone just to shoot me (damn primes!).

what good does it do if i go down trying to revive someone? it happens. also, if a level 5 vanguard goes down constantly, because he tries to charge enemies on gold, i'm not gonna be there to help him.

I just look at the level of the character they are using and weapon loadouts... N7 means absolutly nothing because someone could get to level 500 using only one class. Also, everyones gets the same amount of xp at the end of the game because it is just added up so he might be bottom by 50k every match but still get high xp from everyone else.

Any engineer can solo-gold, even a QE without Overload mass-stun/shield strip can do it, as Tangster showed. It simply involves a lot of time and kiting. This is a PvE Game with a very wonky balance, gamebreaking weapons and highly predictable wave patterns.

Actually, nevermind that, I can beat bots in League of Legends under 10 minutes with my buddies
and do perfect runs on Hell difficulty Killing Floor, I'm the
übermensch: Quarian Engineer only, No Equipment, Firebase White only. Let's stop having fun guys.

Please, get real.

N7 means nothing, I have never promoted my main QE but kept promoting classes that XPed through "excess" of Character Cards, reaching 350+.
In my case, you could argue that my N7 score is a complete liability because such overspecialization means that I lack polyvalence and should start to train on other classes, which I do.

To spot baddies, just look at the weapons. It's the surest giveaway 95% of the time.
