Sorry to add another conspiracy to the turmoil surrounding ME3, but I've had a thought based upon observation lately.

What if the "unliked ending" was put in the game as a way of Bioware trying to contact us fans without alarming EA?

Here's how I see it.

In the beginning, you had good game companies (like Westwood and Maxis) that did their own thing and were really good at it. Eventually they were bought out by EA. And... well, you don't exactly here those names anymore - if you catch my drift.

With employees at Bioware starting to see certain evil, soulless things happen with their games, they are trying to warn us ahead of time with a very subtle message. That message being:

"We don't have any choice about how things are going to end - dispite what we have done in the past. But ultimately, we will die in the end, things won't make sense, and the fans will be unhappy."

If you are still reading, then you may pick up on the fact that I am not creating a conspiracy but sharing my honest thoughts on EA based on things we have seen in the past.

And in the end, should Bioware be taken down to the white-tiled room in the basement and executed by EA, I still have faith that they shall re-assemble in a new form and return to their former glory.

Arg out.

That's been the only rational conclusion I've come up with for what was delivered. BioWare's most heartfelt finger to EA, but under the guise of "releasing a quality product".

Why? Because the qualiy really is there, you can see it all through the game, up until the last ten minutes, at any rate. After the script leak, it rather feels a good deal like what we ended up with was a "compromise" forced on them (BW) from above (EA), and this was how they handled it.

That's also the best way I can keep myself remotely sane/invested in anything the company might yet produce, because if I had to base it solely on the series, I'd say they're like a couple other Sci-Fi writers I've tried to follow. Great concepts, solid setup, interesting characters, and a plot so full of holes the Geth could move their Dyson sphere through it without ruffling feathers.

I think that the "lots of speculation for everyone!" line was in fact (if it's not fake, of course) the writer's way of basically saying to EA (or higher ups at Bioware) "here's what you friggin wanted, happy?" It's pretty far fetched, but I interpreted it as a snide insinuation directed at whoever told the creator of that paper to make ambiguous endings. It's hard to explain I guess, but basically I think the writers were forced into writing something so ambiguous, hence the sarcastic "lots of speculation for everyone. [Happy?]"
Did that make any sense?

I meant the way I explained it probably didn't make sense. I suppose you can't agree with what I said if it didn't make sense.
Are you saying that the content of what I said made no sense, or the way I explained it?

So the ending was a big middle finger to their parent company? Hmmm, interesting if true. Sadly I'm (we're) collateral damage.

The fact that what you said describing the situation which in itself was nonsensical. I agree that it makes no sense. Not your scenario, but all of what's going on right now. Who knows what is going on...

Can we stop talking about making sense? I'm not making sense anymore...

If that was really true then you probably could call the entire ME trilogy an allegory to BioWare's relationship with EA.

But the problem with the "middle finger" theory is that sales are decent, and Metacritic scores are very good.  So then, if fans are unhappy and looking to BioWare for answers to the ending, demanding changes to the ending but not mass refunds, how is EA receiving the business end of the middle finger exactly?

Hmmm, video games can't be returned like some things can.  So it can sell extremely well, but still be bad for the long term.

Its most likely not true.  They just botched the ending either by fumbling at the 1 yard line, or EA pressured them and they had to rush the first thing they could think of out the door.

Heh.

There is zero chance it's a secret code. No offense.

On this at the start when the Normandy is leaving Earth - there is an Alliance cruiser burning through the atmosphere.

Just in front of the Alliance logo is some scratches very much in the shape of an E.

Pure accident of course - but it looks like the EA logo on a ship that is Crashing and Burning :P

I believe this was the cause of belonging to EA, not Bioware forewarning us. It has already begun. HOPE IS IRRELEVANT.

I think EA just wanted to meet a certain deadline and told Bioware to stop development and send it into QA. They probably also belived they can sell the "true" ending as DLC. Now this is just going off the idea that the ending was indoctrination and/or Bioware could not finish the game due to management of resources (multiplayer, singleplayer, and the Galatic War apps on Facebook and Iphone).

Without knowing the details of employee contracts with Ea, I don't see why bioware developers couldn't just up and quit and go form a new company. Wouldn't be the first time this has happened, sure they would lose access to all there IP's but they would also be able to create new ones without anyone meddling with it.
