95% of the game was pure awesome, BioWare really did a kick ass job.
-The story was riveting
-Characters were their usual awesome selves (though I would like to have seen more of Ashley)
-Voice work was even better this time around. Serious props to Mark Meer.
-Music was FANTASTIC, as well as the rest of the sound design
-Combat was improved, flowed really well
-Multiplayer was actually really fun, surprised me.
-I loved the dynamic Normandy, with the characters moving around and talking to each other. More of that please!

The Rannoch and Tuchunka story-lines where masterfully done. The rest is a riddled maze of cut-corners, sloppy craftsmanship, dropped plot threads.
50% of the game was well done.

Heck, yes. I do so love what Bioware did with the rest of the game. And being an IT worker myself, I can very much sympathize with the ordinary workers at the company who get flamed and sworn at by a tiny minority of ignorant fans, when they had nothing to do with the overall writing or plot elements.
Fantastic game, fantastic series, crappy ending. Looking forward to what happens in the future, and crossing my fingers in hope.

Agreed. *Waits for bad analogies about car crashes and dung to derail this thread.
EDIT: I'm actually apathetic about the ending. But my view that the 99% of the game is stellar still stands.

I love Bioware, one of my favorite game companies, has been since the days of Baldur's Gate. After all they brought me Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, Jade Empire, DA, and ME. So much love for the company. With all the stress you guys are probably going through I wish I could get you all a round of beer.

yup..loved me1, me2, and 99% of me3.
me3 was soo good 99% of of the way..the last 1% could have been just mediocre..and the series still would have gone down as one of the best science fiction stories ever (in any medium). It's just a pity that it will be remembered for what could have been.
I think that's part of my frustration with this series. It's like watching the super talented... super capable... super smart..awesome person......overdose on drugs and squander their potential.

Bioware, I've loved you since KotOR. You even made me play an MMO, which I've never done before. Yet I bought SWtOR and knew it would be a quality gaming experience with a great story and characters that felt real because you made it.
I've truley loved the Mass Effect series and Mass Effect 3 should have been your crowning achievement and, up until the ending, it was. Everything else about the game was so great. Please fix the ending. I want to love you again. I want to trust the promises you make about your games again. You've never failed me before this Bioware, So I'll trust you again, one more time.

I appreciate the good writing in Mordin's part and a few other parts, and the improvements to the combat system. But it's still far from 99% of the game.
And the ending was still a total deal breaker for the entire franchise (will never buy another ME game again unless they actually recognize their mistake)

Yeah, it gets lost in the message a lot, but the rest of ME3 was very satisfying. I don't think many can disagree with that.

I agree. I'm here because I love Bioware, their games and Mass Effect and want to see them give ME the ending it deserves and for it to go down as the science fiction epic masterpiece that it almost is and could be.

BioWare Edmonton, despite my feelings towards the ending, i just gotta say, you guys did one hell of a job with ME3.....the conflicts were bigger, the scope was epic, and the characters were more engaging this time around. You've managed to end both the genophage AND the Quarian/Geth dilemma storylines from previous games, as well as tie up any loose ends before the end arrived. As much as the ending was personally not my cup of tea, i can still appreciate all hard work and dedication it must has taken to pull off a game of this sheer magnitude and scale. Overall, i am proud to say that i am pleased with the overall product, and should a DLC come to make amends for the ending, i just might end up giving this game a 10/10. Good job guys, you've earned it.

Alright BioWare, you made a goof. It's okay, it happens to everyone. Fix what you broke and everything will be just fine, because you guys are still an amazing developer and I'd like to continue to buy your games and have amazing experiences.

Count me in.
It's so easy to ***** & moan about what's wrong in our opinion while positive feedback seems to get buried.
BioWare, thanks for all the things you did right;
To the devs,
- a rich, compelling universe stocked with interesting, multifaceted characters
- incredible visuals & sound that transported us to someplace truly remarkable
- the hugely difficult task of being able to elicit a desired emotional response to the choices we make throughout the series
To the mods,
- you guys have my sympathies. I certainly don't envy your position in times like these. I can't imagine the difficulty & frustration of having to put yourself in the "lion's den" with every post. Especially when you're unable to speak freely.
- from one human being to another, some people can be downright deplorable, but take heart; not all are, as evidenced here
For what my opinion's worth

Mass Effect has been one of the only series that has actually played with my emotions.
Ive never felt like i need to man up and hold back a tear from playing a videogame.
ME3 wasn't perfect but it was darn close. The end hit me like a sucker punch to the stomach and it took a few days to regain my breath.
Bioware i do love and appreciate you. But that ending just needed more.

Would have easily been the greatest game/trilogy I had played to this point. Such a pity that it's this 1% holding it back.

I hated the endings. But the game? the game was almost perfect. It touched me like no other game has before. Garrus was the best bro ever, a far cry from the small amount of convos he had in ME2, and that bottle shooting scene was one of the most touching and realistic sequences ever. I felt like Garrus was my brother in that scene, as well as that convo where the two say their goodbyes. Then there were Mordin's and Legion's deaths. Those two were my favs in ME2, and they got a terrific send off. I actually cried, something no other game has done. Shep was more fleshed out than ever before. He went from an invicible hero to a real person, someone cracking under the pressure, someone I could relate to. the game as a whole had more emotion and life, both the good, bad, and sad parts of it, than anything else I've seen. That's why the ending hurt so badly. It just threw away that connection I had to the world I had grown so connected to. I at least want an epilogue. I want to know if Mordin's and Legion's sacrifices were worth it, how Ash lives without me, how Garrus' and Tali's relationship turns out. Not because i'm entitled or whiny, but because I love the franchise and it's characters, and i want it to have an epic ending just as epic as the rest of it.

I love this game, and I'm in denial about the ending. I think it ended on a great note after I took down Cerberus then flew off with Ashley to take down the reapers on their home world in the dark space between galaxies and took down their king with the magic sword I took from Kai-lang. Then we flew off over the rainbow to rescue the strangely hot Prothean women and we all lived forever with their crazy Prothean space magic!

Most definitely, 99 % of the game is awesome (or 95%, if you were big into ME2 NPCs and romances)
But as some wise person posted a few weeks back (sorry for not being able to credit), it is kind of like falling face first into dog poo at the airport after three weeks at the bahama. It a) leaves a sour taste in your mouth and
makes you all the more upset at the dog poo because of how awesome the preceding weeks were.

Yes. I firmly believe in respect where its due.
I cannot even explain my love for the other 2.9 of the Mass Effect trilogy...This is why I(We) am(are) so passionate about the final 0.1.
