This video shows why we need a new ending - because Mass Effect is one of those stories that Sam is talking about. It is brilliant, it's a story that sticks with you. All along, it's been inspiring, and funny, and sad, and some of the best writing out there, certainly in a video game, but I would say across all media. And all that compounded with the complexity of trying to tell multiple stories depending on the player choices.

I really feel bad for everyone there, because it's easy to get swept up in the negative. Hopefully they see the positive in the situation, that all the passion comes from how much we love what they've created.

I think that's why everyone is complaining. We do love Mass Effect, we do love Mass Effect 3, we hate the ending.
Otherwise, we wouldn't lose our time spaming forums about it ^^

Why, yes.

If I didn't love the rest of the games, I wouldn't be here. I'd shrug and move on.
But I can't. Because everything else about Mass Effect was amazing - and I can't bear seeing it die like this

I've been seeing some of the Bioware moderators who post in here say that they feel like they are constantly being attacked and are discouraged from posting in these forums because their words are dissected and taken out of context. I'd just like to say I thought the endings were plot-hole ridden and nonsensical but I love this game company and I loved 99% of Mass Effect 3.

I thought maybe we could use this thread to show Bioware that while we may hate the ending to their game we appreciate the hard work they put into the rest of the game and encourage them to interact more with their fans.
Am I the only one who thinks this way?

Very much agree! I love their games.:)
Just really don't like this ending.

Well, of course I love the rest of the game and Mass Effect in general, that's exactly the reason I'm here :)

I loved Bioware so much that I purchased SWTOR even though I am not interested in remake stories ie startrek online, LOTR online etc...  But because of the storytelling in ME1 & ME2 I just knew that Bioware would be able to do this right. I wanted to support them in any of the endeavors, even if that meant that I really didnt like the game. It was a risk for them and I wanted to support them in it.

Then ME3 came along and I sat down for a full weekend to play. My husband made the dinner and cleaned the house so I wouldnt be disturbed. Yes - I do not agree with the endings. It was crushing that it would end that way. It felt so rushed after the priority mission with Tali and Legion not even going to mention the starbrat nor the MP effecting the SP (which is a big pet peeve of mine).

I still kept my SWTOR account up and running even though I havent played it since that weekend that I finished the game. I still have "hope", just like my Shepard had through the whole series, that Bioware can make this right. I don't want it to end this way, with nasty comments and canceling all accounts. I want more beautifully rich stories like ME that I know Bioware can produce.

No, I think they were off in more places than just the ending. And it's hard for me to praise all the things I like when there's a black hole of awfulness at the end that just sucks everything else into it.

Fix the ending, and then I'll tell you how much I loved the characters, the audio, the music, the art, and making people's heads explode.

Well said. Same here. I've bought all their games since KOTOR, including PC & 360 versions of DAO and the ME series, CE versions of ME2 & 3 for both versions, as well as for DAII and SWTOR, and all the DLC's for every version I own. I don't even like MMO's, but I was hopeful that they could deliver a good story, even in an MMO, and so far, I haven't been disappointed.

I restarted ME1 again right before ME3 came out. I'd planned to do a complete run through exactly how I wanted it. Now, I'm still playing it, but I'm taking it much slower. The ending has really cast a shadow over the whole series. Even though I still enjoy them, I dread what's coming. But I'm hopeful they can turn this around. I know that the quality is there. The entire trilogy was absolutely brilliant up to that point, so there's no reason why the endings shouldn't be too.

98% in my case. They ending off course, and Diana Allers.
This is the first time i didn't like a voice actor in ME.
I love to hate Udina, TIM, Harbringer, Saren...
But i simply hate the god child/star child or what ever people like to call him.
And i definitlely hate Diana Allers, My god that voice is awful and annoying.
Why didn't they choose Emily Wong.

So without the ending and Diana Allers, i have to say that all 3 ME games are the best games i ever played.

Oh I'm a huge fan of BioWare and I have been for years. Which is why the ending bothers me so much because I know they are better than that. They have proved that time and time again and even did so in Mass Effect 3 as well up to the ending. So yeah, hated the ending but I'm definitely a fan of BioWare.

Major grievances:
- The ending. Cpt. Obvious to the rescue
- The journal.
- The seemingly lack of diverse dialogue and interrupts
- Tali's face. Seriously. There is a whole subsection of the fanbase loyal to Tali, that is much more active than any other party for squad members and romance options, and you feed them a photoshopped image from getty images instead of getting the job done decently. Did you honestly think it was a great idea? That it would fit and sit right? SERIOUSLY? I don't need a business or design degree to realize that is truly awful decision-making.

Minor grievance:
- Lack of squadmates. 50% in comparison to ME 2 feels like a very steep decline. I liked having a busy ship, even when I only used Zaeed for Disruptor ammo and Kasumi for her OP blink-strike.
- Cover system: Using Space to interact with something, especially Revive, while close to cover usually causes stupid glitching around. Introducing another button would have prevented that. This is especially stupid under heavy fire, e.g. in multiplayer, where you want to resurrect your teammate and need to switch positions in a matter of 2-3 seconds. Also sliding over cover is excruciatingly difficult to time imho. Basically causing you to, while changing position, becoming utterly exposed for a few seconds.

What I loved about the game:
- The side romances: Tali & Garrus
- Former cast returning with neat little missions
- The fleet battles. ME is a space opera ever since and you always managed to get them right.
- The main missions
- More diverse enemies. What happened to the mechs? In ME 2, context made it sound like they were on the rise, yet we don't see any in ME 3 except the Atlas employed by Cerberus.
- More dynamic battles. Though this is partly ruined by the bad controls, see Minor grievance.
- Reintroduction of more talents. Roleplaying comes first in ME, "Gears of War"-esque action second.

Loved 98% percent of the game. Really awesome in every way. The best of the 3 mass effect series and totaly ruined by the ending. That's a shame. The game is one of the best i've seen.

The other 1% is tali's face but it's not as important as the ending.

Oh, I feel the same way.  I love the games, and up until I won ME3 I was of the opinion that BioWare could do no wrong.  The endings just happened to be bad enough that I was plunged into a deep depression for 3 days.

i like bioware and the ending is not up to their standards no matter how mutch they tried (no offense bioware) and they have to se that now if not i will see their jugment as weakened....

beside that i like bioware on the level i like bethesta and valve
valve got me into gaming in the first place with Half life 1 and i will always remember those times
bethesta got me into the rpg genere with morrowind and i got hooked on it
and when bitten by the rpg bugs and after finishing oblivion i came over a mass effect review on gamespot and orderet right away and was introduced to the most amazing story to date, a story that makes the lotr look like a childs story

so yea bioware has a gold star in my book

Agree there, that was the worst thing about the game besides the ending.....so...frikkin...lazy.

Still <3 Bioware and Mass Effect but seriously guys you need to get some of that magic back because we're afraid we're gonna lose you soon.

I don't know what I prefer if I avoid talking about the ending.
The 2 photoshoped pictures, one for the long awaited tali's face, the other one for the buzz aldrin speech... Not saying the photoshoped are bad, but it's incredibly lazy, especially on something thousands of us was waiting.
Maybe the 2 discussion options instead of 3, removing many RPG aspect (you either choose : 1/good 2/bad). Remind me Fable III a lot.
Auto discussion, or "why my Shep is raging against everyone after Thessia ?" or " why my renegade Shep, a really bad guy, is suddenly friendly with some people ?".
Reapers alertness, or how you can't explore anything.

But yeah, overall it's still good. A good Action game, with some RPG part.

See, I didn't talk about the end !

Well I've a fan of Bioware since I layed my eyes on Ice Wind Dale more than 10 years ago, I think they're just made of awesome, I think that's the reason many of us are so pissed off about the endings, because we care about both the series and Bioware and we hope they go back to all that makes them so epic great. So, yeah, I love 99% os ME3, that's why I hate SO MUCH the ending :( Bioware, like all canadians, capable of the best and the worst (Edge, Bret Hart, Jim Carrey ... Justin Bieber ...)

Mass Effect 3: The game that made Thane, Mordin, Jack, and Garrus even more awesome. I really felt like these characters came alive. Well done BW, well done!

PS I could have used a little more Jack though *hopes for dlc for all the old teammates*
