[Ubergrog]

A lot of you are looking to PAX for some semblence of salvation.  The announcement the majority of us are hoping to come will almost certainly come there, while all the press is waiting for it. 

Now, remember everyone, PAX is run by Penny Arcade. Enough has been stated on the creators of both Child's Play and PAX, let us focus on EA and Bioware.

What is your worst case scenareo?

Here is mine (and also what I actually think will happen).

The room is going to be filled with guards, probably one at every entrance and exit, with a few normal clothes guards in the audience. The first will be annoucements as to how great Mass Effect 3 has done at all major reviewing sites (we all know that huge kickbacks are given to all of these sites), and how many copies were sold. 

The 'retake' effort will be brought up, but never mentioned by name.  Something along the lines of "A few vocal critics" or "A vocal minority" will be mentioned, and the integrity of "video games as art" will be sounded off. 

A fancy video will be played, showing off a multiplayer DLC which will introduce two or three new weapons, one or two new races for established classes.  One or two new maps as well.

Question and answer session will go in one of three possible ways:
1. All questions will be written down ahead of time and put in a box, they will be reviewed and the 'softest' questions will be selected to be answered, none in the audience will be permitted to speak. 
2. Plants in the audience will be selected, people who are known to the staff who were specifically flown out or hired to ask specific questions ("how did you get inspired to make the art for the game?" "What was your favorite moment"... you know, the useless questions that boil down to "Please pat yourself on the back for us"). 
3. Only the press will be allowed to ask questions, the same press that EA gives kickbacks to get better ratings on their games.

Anyone in the audience who speaks up will be probably met with overwhelming force from security. I know it may be extreme to say this, but I can forsee a tasering for asking "The wrong question."
Or worse, perhaps six burley guards mobbing one poor soul for asking "Why wasn't the ending more friendly to the color blind?"

IF questions are answered from the crowd, I expect answers like "I am not answering that question at this time" or "Clearly the ending went over your head".  

Am I being pessimistic? hell yes. Tell us all your "worst case scenareos"!

Then they go on about their multiplayer DLC then announce Dragon Age III as a rail shooter with a set male character.

Ubergrog, I thought you were describing a Obama town hall Q&A? Or GOP Primary Debate. - If I see that/read that about PAX, I'll have lost all faith in Gaming - if it gets as corrupt and asinine as the political circus we call government in the US. I'll find a new hobby.

I don't imagine that there will be a whole lot of positive energy from the audience, unless something about the ending is addressed early on. Most people know how these conventions work, and if BW sidesteps the major issue, they know that will mean a complete disconnect with the fanbase.

I have worked convention security for MANY years. Depending on the form that their security takes (professional or volunteer), anything can happen. Remember, the rules are made by those in charge, and if anyone causes problems for their high paying customers, extreme measures can be taken...

Why not assume Bioware is going to invite the entire retake movement to their offices world-wide and then shooting them and disposing of their bodies?

I do confess, that is exactly where I got my "worst case scenareo" idea from .

I'm truly dreading that it really will be just something that tells why we should think it's good when it isn't.  Or certain things will be filled in with the quickest thing possible that doesn't really help, like somehow the Normandy will be shown picking up the squad while still having enough time to get to a relay before things get colorful. 

Actually, what would be worse is that the 'explantion" isn't even used in the game in any sense.  We just get a written out message stickied in the forum.

I know, it's a damn shame so much of what we're shown is just a clever scripted show. Maybe they kept pushing reality shows so one day we can't distinguish between scripted tv/live tv. Who knows! but it's just a damn shame if Gaming industry stoops down that low man.

Worst Case Scenario: I spend the money I would have spent on Mass Effect 3 DLC on The Witcher series.
