You forgot to mention the part where after you are tasered for asking the wrong question the security guards will take you into a basement room where Casey Hudson will personally threaten you with a hammer and hold you until you admit that the endings were great and that you secretly work for Activision.

Or the part where they will require you to write your full name and address on the question sheets so that Bioware's goons can set your house on fire while you sleep.

This is all goofy and paranoid. It's a flipping video game company. They've angered their core fans. They aren't going to continue to provoke them. They are going to lead off with the elephant in the room, and most likely the reasonable, non paranoid, non melodramatic among you will be heard. In fact if they have a decent trailer ready for their closure dlc they will lead off with that most assuredly. Just to put the wind out of the sails out of angry goofballs that are afraid that guards will subdue them for asking about the endings.

I wouldn't think they would do this. They would lose such a large portion of their fanbase. I wouldn't be surprised if they announced a Retake Omega DLC or one that explains the endings. To A) get the endings out of the lime light or B) to come up with a quick, easy answer for the retake movement. But They'd still lose a large part of their fanbase.

No, their only real course of action is to address this head on and appease the masses, either by a new ending DLC or the announcement that the Indoctrination theory is correct and there is another installment coming.. Anything else is poor decision making from a business point of view.

At least you won't be disappointed.  So looking forward to that free upgrade to the Enhanced Edition next month.

Your worst case scenario is highly probable... except the tasering part XD

Oh well, getting your hopes up will only result in..... well, that feeling you had when you saw the ending for the first time, i think a mild word for it would be "disappointment".

I can pick up The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut for $10 and  The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Digital Premium Edition for $40 on Steam. Thats $50, about the amount of money I would have shelled out for DLC.

Would be cool if the entire room just walks out when Casey tries his PR talk again.

I've been thinking about whether or not Bioware will charge for the ending, and it just occurred to me that there's no benefit to them charging, let alone no benefit to us. I say this because enough people will be reluctant enough not to pay as soon as it's launched, which means most of us will more likely either leave the game with its current, non clarified, nonsensical ending and the minority that will download as soon as it's out will post on various forums about it. That in turn will mean those of us already pretty jaded by the ending will know whether or not it's worth paying for - an ending should -never- be sold seperately, so technically an ending is worth it, but it not something that should even be considered - and so their revenue will be minimal at best.

So worst case scenario to me is a combination of not giving us any useful information, coupled with a reveal that basically kills the franchise off.

A lot of you are looking to PAX for some semblence of salvation.  The announcement the majority of us are hoping to come will almost certainly come there, while all the press is waiting for it.

Now, remember everyone, PAX is run by Penny Arcade. Enough has been stated on the creators of both Child's Play and PAX, let us focus on EA and Bioware.

What is your worst case scenareo?

Here is mine (and also what I actually think will happen).

The room is going to be filled with guards, probably one at every entrance and exit, with a few normal clothes guards in the audience. The first will be annoucements as to how great Mass Effect 3 has done at all major reviewing sites (we all know that huge kickbacks are given to all of these sites), and how many copies were sold.

The 'retake' effort will be brought up, but never mentioned by name.  Something along the lines of "A few vocal critics" or "A vocal minority" will be mentioned, and the integrity of "video games as art" will be sounded off.

A fancy video will be played, showing off a multiplayer DLC which will introduce two or three new weapons, one or two new races for established classes.  One or two new maps as well.

Question and answer session will go in one of three possible ways:
1. All questions will be written down ahead of time and put in a box, they will be reviewed and the 'softest' questions will be selected to be answered, none in the audience will be permitted to speak.
2. Plants in the audience will be selected, people who are known to the staff who were specifically flown out or hired to ask specific questions ("how did you get inspired to make the art for the game?" "What was your favorite moment"... you know, the useless questions that boil down to "Please pat yourself on the back for us").
3. Only the press will be allowed to ask questions, the same press that EA gives kickbacks to get better ratings on their games.

Anyone in the audience who speaks up will be probably met with overwhelming force from security. I know it may be extreme to say this, but I can forsee a tasering for asking "The wrong question."
Or worse, perhaps six burley guards mobbing one poor soul for asking "Why wasn't the ending more friendly to the color blind?"

IF questions are answered from the crowd, I expect answers like "I am not answering that question at this time" or "Clearly the ending went over your head".

Am I being pessimistic? hell yes. Tell us all your "worst case scenareos"!

I woud not be supprised if this happens....  I just hope someone post the meeting on youtube so we know what really happens...

Worst Case Scenario:
1.) they're going to sell the "new ending" dlc.
if that happens i will buy it but after that to hell with BW im not going to support them anymore.
2.) they're not going to change the ending, their just going to add some content to fill the plot holes

You know, rather than react violently at any further stupidity defending the ending, everyone could just walk out and leave Bioware with a very empty room.

If I were Bioware I would "accidently" leak details of whatever clarifications/DLC of the endings they have planned a few days prior to PAX, just to get people excited and talking about something positive for a change. And then at PAX release a trailer or full details.

I hope there's a coordinated walkout. As soon as they spew out the usual non-commital half-truthed BS, everyone turns their back to the stage and walks out, chanting "A, B, C! A, B, C! Red Blue Green Red Blue Green"

Worst case scenario for who? Us or them? Actually it's probably the same.

I can see them letting very few people in to the room, because if you fill that room up, just one angry person can turn it into a bad place to be. And unless they have enough security to outnumber the raging retake fans, they'll just get ran over.

Worst thing?  They keep to their elitist attitude and tell us to like it or buy dlc for some cheap satisfaction.  If that's the case then I say screw them.. Can't believe I was foolish enough to buy the collector's edition.

I don't know what PAX will bring or if it can change my negative perception of Bioware/EA. But it is their last chance. I'm one man, so losing my supports not much of a threat, and its not meant to be. Its just how it is.

Wouldn't the worst case scenario as it were, be one in which Bioware plays PAX like it's business as usual? No announcements, no concessions, not even a passing mention of the controversy. Just, you know, a whole lot of platitudes and high fives for a job well done?

You have to admit such a scenario isn't all -that- unlikely. After all the damage from the ending fiasco has already been done and any sort of "clarification" DLC is very likely months away at best. The powers that be might decide it's best to just ignore the whole thing and keep the festivities at PAX Focused on whatever positive stuff they can put out there. In fact, if they really aren't planning to do more than to just tweak what's already out there, it might make a ton of sense to take this route since anything they -could- say on the subject would likely just rile everyone up that much more.

Such an eventuality would mean that if there is to be a resolution to ME3's conclusion it wont come for many months, well after those of us who cared have moved on. It'd be a safe path for EA however, and they might figure all the lost goodwill could be made up in sales of other upcoming titles, like, say, Dragon Age 3. Don't get me wrong, I hope my cynicism is misplaced, but this would probably be the worst outcome in my opinion.

The Mayan calender was read wrong and the world ends on April 6th instead of December 21st. Then the world ends right after Casey Hudson says, "You are all right. The ending is bad and we are releasing the completely different ending in May. Oh and it's free"

That's the worst thing that can happen it think

This is my worst-case scenario as well.

Something that's specifically NOT my worst-case scenario: announcing Omega DLC. They probably had that already in the pipeline when the game was released. Announcing it at PAX shouldn't be considered a crime against the fanbase or anything.
