The other thing I would like to add to a worst case scenario, is you get a bunch of hardcore fan bois there, that love everything BioWare has done.

And every question they get is from these kind of fans, and all they do is praise the game, and ask dumb questions. That would be the WORST.

IMO almost every single question should be drilling them on the fans not liking the ending. The ending not making sense. The ending breaking continuity. If there is a huge wave of people going at the ending, it will make it clear to them, this isn't going away.

The worst thing to happen is, a bunch of fans that love everything they have done goes up there, and throws nothing but praise. Then they walk away from it saying: well, people clearly love the ending. This is is proof! I've seen this happen time and time again. People are upset, but then in real life, those upset people don't show up. And this is a videogame convention. So you have to imagine that some fans that love everything about BioWare bought a ticket just to see them.

Who's to say anyone from ReTake will even be there, or even get to ask a question?

Carefull guys. Remember a couple years back someone tried to predict the worst case scenario ending to ME3, and Bioware used it as inspiration. They see everything posted in this topic as great ideas to do at PAX. Listening to feedback an all...

I barely have any hope left for this game at this point, OP's post sounds about right.

Someone asks an honest question question about the endings then 5 come out of nowhere people start hitting them with shock battons and then taser them.
"Just give us the gun Janey!"
*while being beaten and shocked* "My....name.....is Stuart....." then his heart explodes becuase of rage for being mistaken for a girl.

Now I don't what i'm on about.

I'm actually shocked that anyone honestly expects them to have anything at PAX. Dr. Muzyka said they'll tell us more in April, but that does not have to mean the beginning of April.

At PAX, when asked they will say "As Dr. Muzyka stated in his blog post, we are currently looking at several possible initiatives, and once we've settled on the best option we'll make an official announcement, which should come some time this month. Until then I am unfortunately unable to comment further. Thank you for your question."

The one question I would like answered though is "Did you do any focus testing on the current ending before release, and will you consider doing so for future games to avoid this issue recurring?"

I fear more as time goes on that this will be what happens...

A lot of you are looking to PAX for some semblence of salvation.  The announcement the majority of us are hoping to come will almost certainly come there, while all the press is waiting for it.

Now, remember everyone, PAX is run by Penny Arcade. Enough has been stated on the creators of both Child's Play and PAX, let us focus on EA and Bioware.

What is your worst case scenareo?

Here is mine (and also what I actually think will happen).

The room is going to be filled with guards, probably one at every entrance and exit, with a few normal clothes guards in the audience. The first will be annoucements as to how great Mass Effect 3 has done at all major reviewing sites (we all know that huge kickbacks are given to all of these sites), and how many copies were sold.

The 'retake' effort will be brought up, but never mentioned by name.  Something along the lines of "A few vocal critics" or "A vocal minority" will be mentioned, and the integrity of "video games as art" will be sounded off.

A fancy video will be played, showing off a multiplayer DLC which will introduce two or three new weapons, one or two new races for established classes.  One or two new maps as well.

Question and answer session will go in one of three possible ways:
1. All questions will be written down ahead of time and put in a box, they will be reviewed and the 'softest' questions will be selected to be answered, none in the audience will be permitted to speak.
2. Plants in the audience will be selected, people who are known to the staff who were specifically flown out or hired to ask specific questions ("how did you get inspired to make the art for the game?" "What was your favorite moment"... you know, the useless questions that boil down to "Please pat yourself on the back for us").
3. Only the press will be allowed to ask questions, the same press that EA gives kickbacks to get better ratings on their games.

Anyone in the audience who speaks up will be probably met with overwhelming force from security. I know it may be extreme to say this, but I can forsee a tasering for asking "The wrong question."
Or worse, perhaps six burley guards mobbing one poor soul for asking "Why wasn't the ending more friendly to the color blind?"

IF questions are answered from the crowd, I expect answers like "I am not answering that question at this time" or "Clearly the ending went over your head".

Am I being pessimistic? hell yes. Tell us all your "worst case scenareos"!

Wow really? - I pity your Conventions America if they are that stage-managed with PR-control-freakery.  So you get a big glossy show and lots of info, but its all on their terms with no genuine feedback? - wow! - Land of the free huh?.
I'm thankful the sci-fi / fantasy conventions in the U.K, even the ones that draw in the heavy hitters like the London Comic-Con and the Kapow Con are refreshingly free from PR b*llsh*t tactics like the ones you mention.

They show a slow-mo video of the Mass Relays being destroyed and killing every character we know and love agonizingly slowly.

They have the crowd vote on which colour the explosion will be and pick the same one regardless of what the vote is anyway.

I swear, if at PAX bioware uses the term "Vocal Minority" even once. I'm done with Bioware for good.

Realistic.  But instead of employing violence, they'll just stonewall, insult and belittle you like what the DC panel did to the lady who asked them why are so few women working on DC titles at Comicon.  Plus their "die-hard" fans who would boo and, cheer and laugh at every statement the panel makes whether witty or not.

Oh yeah, another worst case for the "clarification" - turns out it's going to be a 24 page comic PDF file drawn by some hack who manages to butcher all likeliness of the characters to explain why Joker flew away and what happened to some people you don't really care about.  A catch - it comes with the new MP DLC and so you got to get that before you can read and get your closure.

Worst case Scenario :

My Dad's thrombosis gets worse....

Wait, this is about a REAL problem....like....the ending of a VIDEO GAME? (/Sarcasm)

...........

I don't know, I am no prophet or oracle. And I don't believe in predicting the worst. Positivity is more fun. If they announce something I like at PAX, GOOD. If NOT....fine. I'll go back to playing ME3, SIMS Medieval and Narcissu.

Yes, because there can't be a worst case scenario to something you care about.

Well, if that happens, EA will likely be cutting Bioware loose as sales of their games fall into the toilet.

I have worked convention security for MANY years. Depending on the form that their security takes (professional or volunteer), anything can happen. Remember, the rules are made by those in charge, and if anyone causes problems for their high paying customers, extreme measures can be taken...

you ARE aware that the phrase "Don't Tase me, Bro!" was coined when someone asked the wrong question at a political event, right?

If that happens then it will be a PR nightmare, for Bioware. Just like it was for the political campaign. If bioware doesn't address the ending honestly, they might as well just write off the game. It is the worse thing that they can do.

If that happen, they might as well just not make any DLC. It won't sell annd the fans will leave bioware to die.

Would like it if they did that, and then the whole crowd jumped the security. Disaster for Bioware.

Shouldn't that title have read: PAX, April 6th: The Worst Case Scenario...

The way you wrote it boggles my mind for some reason.
