Instead we get an sub-average looking newcomer with a fairly dry personality. I mean, I didn't hate her or think she detracted from the game. I appreciated any time I talked to her actually since it felt like a legitimate link to everyone looking up to Shepard.

As a person, though, I didn't connect with her nearly as much as the other two reporters.

Excellent question & yes I hate her.  Would much rather have Emily Wong on ship.

I think they wanted a better looking character sence we all know that sex sales. She is NOT a bad character just should have been Emily Wong or Khalisah Al-Jiani. Hell Khalisah would have been a great renegade semi love interst and emily wong would have bee a semi paragon one..... Or I need to stop drinking and comming on the forms.....

I admit that I found her "sort of" pretty, but MAN, Chobot really just CAN'T ACT AT ALL. Her dull voice... jesus...

However, even when I found her pretty (and with a damn fine ass), that STILL doesn't explain why we didn't got Wong instead of her. Would've make more sense in context. Plus, we have Miranda for that sort of eye-candy.

Allers just seem to be... there, wasting space. Sure, it's a "pretty" (TO ME) waste of space, but still a waste.

There is no shortage of hottish looking babes in the world that could be inserted into the game that don't work for a review site.

I don't have any problem with the concept of throwing in the real life face of some hot woman into the game like a Megan Fox. I have an issue with putting in Chobot into the game.

She was previewing the game for IGN for months before her relationship with Bioware was revealed. That's unethical and a clear conflict of interest.

It isn't the worst decision that Bioware has made recently, but it was a self-inflicted error. I hope that this sort of thing is not done in the future.

yea, I cringe when she says "toniiiiight" trying to be suggestive. The other thing is she isn't so bad to look at in real life but why did they make her face so chubby/wide? Her face is just....off. I think she and samantha should have traded romance roles. I think Samatha should have gone both ways and Allers should have been the female only. That way I wouldn't have to put up with the unwanted advances to get my rep and paragon bonuses.

Her VA was so bad, I avoided Engineering just to be sure I didn't hear that awfulness. I am making my second playthrough now and am hoping that I can leave her on the Citadel and she not find a way onto my ship!

Yeah, she's wasted space. I can't help but laugh uncontrolably whenever I see that face, I'm thinking about making a save point on the Citadel just before you meet her. Whenever I'm feeling down, I'll just load up that save so I can lol for a few minutes. BioWare really messed up with her face, she looks like a swollen potato. I feel sorry for Jessica Chobot, who isn't an unattractive lady at all.

Both Emily Wong and Khalisha would have been much better and fitting in the codex.

unfortunately, to top of "injury" the voice acting of Diana allers is the worst in the series.

Because she has masses of fanboys that are probably eating it up that she's in a game. I think she was one of those things there not so much for long time Mass Effect fans. James Vega and chobots character were for the noobs, James to explain key points and offer a "New Player Perspective" (Ask questions stupid to us who've played a long time but vitally important to someone picking up at 3) and Chobot was probably more a marketing stunt than anything else. Can't blame them for it, you know theres a bunch of people that bought it just to get with Chobot and had no interest in previous ME titles. We just don't see them here because they're not into it enough to come on the forums, but if you went to a Call Of Duty forum or something I bet theres a lot more love for Allers.

My own opinion you ask? I don't like her inclusion, but I get it. Glad she was technically optional, but the boost she gives to the quarian fleet after your interview and some other small War Asset bonuses has made me always stick her on my normandy. At least shes not on the main deck talking every time we go past, you gotta seek her out to let her annoy you.

All human squad mates had face models. Miranda is one of the ones they got wrong, just not as horrendously wrong as Allers.

As for your question, OP, we don't know. I suspect many of the devs don't even know either, since it seems like a decision that would come from the overhead.
