Why not Emily Wong or Khalisah Al-Jiani? Getting on Khalisah's good side or butting heads with her on the Normandy could have been sweet. Emily Wong would have been awesome too, since we actually know her.

Instead we get an sub-average looking newcomer with a fairly dry personality. I mean, I didn't hate her or think she detracted from the game. I appreciated any time I talked to her actually since it felt like a legitimate link to everyone looking up to Shepard.

As a person, though, I didn't connect with her nearly as much as the other two reporters.

Emily Wong  is a freelance investigative reporter, Khalisah Bint Sinan al-Jilani  is a Westerlund News reporter, Diana Allers is a alliance insider reporter. That answer your inquiry

Since my Shepard is such a Fame****. Her being on camera will make her even more famous!.:o  That's the only reason why she took Diana with her, other than laughing at her.

Chobot, or whatever she is called, is actually pretty hot. I'd never heard of her before this. Still..Diana Allers was a waste of space. And I'm not impressed with them keep adding randoms off the internet into their games. There are so many top quality voice actors out there that there is just no need or justification for it.

Why did we get Allers? So they wouldn't have to put effort into Tali's face.
Or the endings.

Because Chobot wanted to screw Shepard and BioWare wanted that 9.5/10 review. It's a win win situation for those two parties involved.

BioWare wanted to play nice with IGN so they won't hear them complain about the horrible endings.

The only problem with that strategy is... well... everybody else...

Two words.

Sex appeal.

really? you must have a whole other definition than I do. Ashley had more sex appeal accidentally then Allers could ever have on purpose.

Where on EARTH did I even suggest it was GOOD sex appeal?

I find an elcor more attractive than Allers.

Besides...she looks more like Snooki in-game.

My theories are all sinister, and knowing IGN for the sensationalist **** media outlet it is, probably right. In case you don't know, Diana Allers is based on and voiced by one Jessica Chobot, a "correspondent" for IGN.com. I saw her enough on my Xbox Dashboard involuntarily to know who she is. Her claim to fame involves licking a PSP suggestively.

Unfortunately this, i'm too cynical to think positive.

Because Bioware needed a way to get a 9+ rating from IGN. This game wasn't going to get it on its own merits.

That horrific leather tennis dress. Every time I see it, I bloody well wonder what the devs were huffing when they rendered it.

Please. For the love of god, BioWare, put some women on your design team.

Maybe if Diana Allers wasn't in this Bioware would have enough RAM to let us holster our weapons? food for thought.

Not even that dress. Her ultra exaggerated walking animation was just so awful when she walked into my Shepard's room. I wanted to kick her out with literally my foot up her ass.

Not going to lie, I wanted to break my boot off in her arse as soon as she opened her mouth on the Citadel. Grating voice, terrible delivery, terrible lines.

Only if I can arrange my foot up your anus.

Or maybe we could've saved the money spent to render that horrible NPC to hire Adam Baldwin, so Kal'Reegar wouldn't suffer a horrible off-screen death. *Glares at Bioware* Or maybe some female turians finally....

Agreed. It was AWFULLY done and SUCH OBVIOUS sex appeal. War Reporter my ass.... <_< It's Kelly Chambers all over again. At least I sorta liked Kelly when she and I weren't talking about screwing other species!

Indeed. R.I.P. Reegar.... :crying: Only hope Bioware realizes their mistake and gives you at least an on screen (optional) death in future DLC.

I have no clue, why Allers should be in the game.

For me, she was the most antisympathic character in the history of ME.
Not in the way of evil guys or the greedy exo-geni-guy from ME1, but for her total lack of depth.
The most interesting part of her was that e-mail right before the Ending.
The only thing where she showed a bit more humanity, than, excuse the metaphor, a media-puppet.

The rest:
She's a reporter, with a research-team behind her to appeal to the watchers of her show.
Nothing more, nothing less.
I would lie if I would say my concern is not partially with the voice-acting.
In my oppinion, it can't compete with the rest of the voice acting in the game.
It's still way better than what I expected from a gaming-journalist, though.

What bothered me most, is, that I never got the feeling of "There's a war out there." from Allers.
Although she mentioned most of the situations that occur.
The voice-acting did an acceptable job in portraying a professional reporter in front of her camera-drone, but for me it failed deeply in presenting the woman behind that.
She never behaved differently, wether she recorded or not.
This could have been easily changed by one simple scenario:
Allers requesting an interview right behind an important story-mission.
Upon calling her up to the cabin, Traynor states that Allers answered, she wouldn't be able to come up.
When visiting her in her quarter, she could sit on her bed or look at that picture-wall, fighting with tears and telling Shepard that she can hardly bear with something.
This something could be: The loss of a family-member, the flood of bad news she has to work through or some terrible pictures.

It's not my intent to lessen the work of anyone who worked on that character.

Nor do I hold any grudges against Miss Chobot.
In fact I didn't even knew anything about Miss Chobot, until she was brought up in these forums.
I'm not really concerned with IGN, neither positive or negative.
Sometimes I watch some of their gameplay-footage on youtube, but I lost the interest in that site a long time ago.
I simply found gaming-sites that had more content which interested me.
As I said: Miss Chobot performed better than I would have expected from a gaming-journalist.

Still, I don't know what we got Diane Allers for.
I would have loved to pick up Emily Wong, or could have lived with Al'Jilani.
Both are well established characters with way more personality.
Emily Wong and Al'Jilani may be stereo-types, with Wong being the idealist and Al'Jilani one of those who like to throw with dirt, but at least they are types.

There is a reason why when she asked me if she could come aboard the Normady I laughed and threw her out the airlock.

Yeah, I was mildly insulted that she's supposed to be a war correspondent. Walter Cronkite was a war correspondent. Margaret Bourke-White was a war correspondent. Robert Capa was a war correspondent. Dickey Chapelle was a war correspondent.

Having a character in that vein would have been so incredibly awesome. I have no words for how amazing that would be, and how much it would add to the story in both depth and urgency. If they were going to create such a new character, how I wish to god they would have done so with such reverence and maturity. They really needn't even have had a new character; as mentioned, Khalisah could have filled this role quite nicely (along with astonishing character growth) since they surreptitiously killed off Wong.

Instead what we got was bad fanservice.

I was surprised that Emily Wong wasn't on the ship. She would have been a more appropriate choice.

That's because they killed Emily Wong on Twitter.
