They need to get rid of the multiplayer requirement.  I realize it is possible to get the necessary EMS for a "perfect" ending without multiplayer but it limits your choices severely.  If I have the desire to play this game years down the line (if the ending is repaired) I want to be able to achieve a good outcome without multiplayer (which will be dead in favor of a shooter or other venue).

Edit 3/29 12:03

It has been revealed that it is not possible to get the 4000 EMS necessary through singleplayer alone.  All the more reason to get rid of the multiplayer requirement.

Again whether you enjoy the multiplayer or not is immaterial.  The multiplayer servers will be shut down someday making it impossible to raise your rating and getting the Shepard lives ending.  The fact that MP is in the game is not the issue merely that the MP has consequences for the SP.

Dear God yes. I have no intention of ever touching the multiplayer.

And reversed. Multiplayer awarding benefits for Singeplayer is kinda pointless for Multiplayer. :P

Yes please they said we wouldn't need multiplayer to unlock single player content and I was follish enough to believe them. They do not get another penny of my money until they live up to their words about this and the endings.

Hold the line for as long as it takes to get new endings.

I don't understand why they made the MP have any bearing on the SP. The multiplayer is entertaining but not long term. I play ME for the story and that story is altered by a MP that isn't going to last that long (there are far better MP experiences available). That crap about being able to get the best ending without MP is just that; the path you have to take to do that almost eliminates choice from the equation.

I heard you can change vallues in some of the game files adding EMS to certain war assets or changing the default level to 100%
of course that only works for PC.

honestly even if you play MP like I do...

this is just a no brainer.

Not being able to see shep live because you can't get enough point in SP alone is freaking ludicrous

You can still get the "best" ending without multiplayer, you just have to work harder. if you love SP so much why is that a problem?

Can we patch out the Star Child while we're at it?

You don't work harder - you limit your choices to those that produce the highest EMS, which totally defeats the point of a RPG.  Oh wait, I forgot, ME3 isn't an actiona RPG, it's just a straight up action adventure game now.  Sorry! /sarcasm

That Readiness thing needs to be patched asap.  EA has made enough money selling online passes, now give the game back to us fans.

If Bioware won't fix the ending, at least give us the option of patching out the ending entirely...I'd rather have a cliffhanger at the Marauder Shields...

Really? I have yet to find anyone who got their EMS up to 4000+ without raising their galaxy readiness first. Many claim to have done so, but turns our they were confusing TMS and EMS.

I fully agree. If Bioware decides to *gasp* leave the ending exactly as it is then they should at the very least lower the EMS rating for the "Red: Shep lives... maybe" choice by 1000 so it is obtainable in single player. That way, it still takes a lot of work (and probably a decent ME2 save) to achieve but does not require multi-player to do so.

I've read that you need 4000.  The most I could get was around 3600, counting the Proto Reaper heart, and that wasn't enough for me.  I can see missing some points, but I don't see how I could have missed ~400 points.

Tbh, with the current ending that we have, I really don't care anymore what my EMS is.  I agree though, it is too restrictive.  I'm guessing that some story DLC may increase your EMS somehow, but you shouldn't have to play DLC, multi-player, or strictly limit your choices in order to achieve that.

I know all the endings suck that's not the point (of this thread anyway).  The point is I shouldn't have to play multiplayer to get the least sucky ending.

It's simple. If you must play multiplayer to get the "best" ending, that means people who buy used games "must" buy the online pass. Also, EA probably figures that at least some people will buy some Spetre packs once their forced into multiplater.

Yea betraying the Krograns to get more salarians on board isn't working harder; it's simply an artificial limit on my choices. To get the 4k EMS you almost don't have choices you have to lock step into a set of options (some of which are just terrible).

I've completed 2 playthroughs with imported Shepards, resolving ALL conflicts peacefully if possible, and both times I got around 7200 total military strength (3600 EMS). I was forced to play multiplayer

It isn't possible to get every ending with SP alone. There are not enough war assets in the game. I support this thread since my connection doesn't support multiplayer (I would support it anyway, I hate multiplayer and even if I didn't, those that do shouldn't be punished)

From what I've read, people that have datamined the code have said it isnt even possible to get 8000 total military strength at this point

I suppose we should be thankful that EA/Bioware didn't nerf all entry-level weapons to the point of utter uselessness and then force us to dish out real dough to buy truly useful weapons while at the same time making MP a requirement to finish the SP campaign (oh wait, they did do that sort of, because there's no real ending!).

/sarcasm

I agree, get rid of that ****.

It's pointless in an RPG.
