Glad to see a healthy bit of xenophobia and narcisism going on in this thread. *sigh* We really do have a long way to go...

Xenophobia would be going so far as to say that A: if it's not human, it needs to die. B: Making it illegal to "crossbreed" by whatever definition happens to come along. Hell. Interracial relationships (legal ones) took -forever-. C: Aliens will never set foot on earth. (cue X-Files.)

Given that we're gamers, and we kinda see this stuff on a regular basis, I'd like to -hope- some of us are open minded. Hell. I'd rather have an Asari for a shrink or a friend. Dating one might take time, but hell. -If- it happens, why the hell not?

Only Aria because she's fun and pretty much the only decent looking Asari.- I prefer partners with ears and hair.

I might give a serious answer for once because I am in a super serious mood and everybody has already taken many of the jokes I thought of. =P

Would I date an Asari? Good question... Probably not. Would I care they will live for hundreds of years after me? No. Would I care if the only children she bore were Asari? No. What I would care about is their philosophy about relationships.

Starting from ME1 through to ME3 it seems as though the Asari have many different philosophical approaches to relationships, others love, others see it as sticking in there for a century and moving on. If they properly cared about me and about having a proper loving relationship well then yes.

So for me it comes down to their philosophical approach to relationships.

Although I would much rather date a Quarian. ;):P

Do you even know what xenophobia is? Because not wanting to have sex with an Alien probably wouldn't come under that...

Yes, I would much rather kill my girl by accidentally sneezing while she was around unmasked as well. It will be a perfect relationship.

I would just like to think that gamers, as a whole, are more progressive than the rest of the population. Dates don't equal sex. People go on dates with people they don't intend to have sex with all the time. Its perfectly natural and part of daily life. It seems people are just as vain and fixated on superficial things here as everywhere else.

Tali throughout ME2 and ME3 mentions time and time again that the Quarian body get sick during first contact of any foreign agents and then they proceed to adapt and overtime the body gets used to it and any illness a Quarian would normally recieve no longer exists. It is how Tali and Shepard are able to do all those grotty things they do.  :P

... if of course your Male Shepard initiates a relationship with Tali which many users don't. :)

But what about your duty about your own species? Ah yes individualism... you have no duty. The universe is only made for your ego.

It'd depend on their personality. But i'd have no probs with it.
But Tali's my girl really.

I find your ignorant replies amusing if anything. Im not mad, its perfectly normal for people to be uncomfortable with things they dont understand or are different from themselves.

If I liked her personality, sure. Although, I would be leaning far more towards dating asari than humans if they were all as hot as Liara. Just sayin

For me dates equal sex. Who doesn't love a chick who plays games and cosplays.

Is this question specifically for female gamers? I mean, suppose if it were not, you would include the quarian into the equation. But I guess you wanted to adress the discomfort general public would show if they saw an alien/human s/s couple.

Anyway, to answer your question. Yes, I would. It wouldn't be the first time I would face discrimination, but I really don't care what some stranger thinks about me.
Now to elaborate on the subject. I agree with True Zarken on the topic of Asari philosophical approach to relationships, and I find it one of the most interesting subjects to explore. Example - if you have a Liara-Kaidan/Ashley clash in ME, Liara would be the one to stay by your side, and it that case, she was the more mature one. Not to mention the idea of cherishing each moment with your loved ones, instead of worrying they might die of old age in 30 years. Just imagine how much maturity, insight into relationships and wisdom you could achieve in a span of 1000 years.
I'd like to learn more about their culture and I really hope Bioware will expand on the subject in the future.
Also, there's simply no better way to understand a mind meld than to experience it :)

And what duty would that be? Because if it were my duty to spread my genes, cooperation of the other sex would be mandatory and not depending on consent.

My species can expect me to give my best effort for its continued existence and prosperity. Not necessarily by wiping out mating competition.

Back to the question: yeah, I guess I would. Even if only for the selfish hope that someone somewhere might smile and remember me centuries after this mortal body has turned into worm food.
