I think I've probably been most of the above at some point or other in regards to skill levels and then also most of the above at some point depending on what class I'm playing...

Some days I can carry a group and waltz around the map without a care in the world. Other days, every stray bullet from the other end of the map seems to find my head...

Had a curious one last night that I'll refer to as the 'MYSPOT!' player. I was on as my SI and picked the usual sniping position on the map for the start of each wave. The other player would then come up to me and keep attempting to melee me until I moved (They weren't a sniper, so didn't really need to be in that spot). Happened every round if I went there - which I admit I was doing deliberately by the end because I found it amusing.

Lol I don't really think I fit into any of these categories. I guess it's a little bit of The Altruistic Guy (girl), The Unsung Hero and The Noob. I'm a human infiltrator and complete objectives/provide covering fire properly, save people when I can, but I have my occasional "durr" moment when I heavy melee Guardians that get too close or try to save people that get overwhelmed. (But I'm learning.)

EDIT: I agree with the above poster, there are some people who have a specific spot they like to be in even if they don't need to be. If you're already there they'll take cover right next to you and try to push you out of the way/make it impossible for you to aim because they're right up in your face.

LOL cool list, and very true.

I guess I'd mostly be a combination of Unsung hero and Olympian. I tend to look out for my team as if they were my flock, even when playing as a vanguard. I also like to kill in all the different ways the game allows just for the badassness factor.

I try to assume the following roles:

The Flank-defender: This guy seems to be pretty useless, as he is not firing at the same thing the rest of the group is firing at. He is occasionally seen "dropping by" to help with a particulalry tough enemy, then he's off again. Sometimes, he will come running back, firing in another direction than the rest. Turning that way, you see incoming Geth Hunters, Pyros, Banshees, Brutes, Phantoms or Guardians that would otherwise have moved in to flank you and wipe the group. After you've helped him take care of the group, he's off again. When he dies, he is always found relatively close to the group, but rarely on top of them. On hacking-objectives, he stays within the circle, often facing a different direction from everyone else. He doesn't contribute much to the stop the main group of advancing enemies. But for some reason, you tend to never get caught by surprise from your flank these games.

The Careful reviver: Like the Altruistic Reviver, this guy will charge towards almost any teammate falling. Unlike the Altruistic Reviver, he will not immediately revive you. Instead, he will move into cover before reviving, or attempt to kill close enemies first. Once in a while, you die before he has time to revive you because he is busy fightning.

The Hit & Runner: As soon as the opposition starts piling on him, he's gone. He doesn't stay in one place long, instead moving back and forth and unleashing key attacks on enemies, retreating when the heat turns too high. He never attempts to fight big enemies (Banshees, Atlas'es and Geth Primes) on his own. Often found behind other members of the group, leaving them more than their share of the incoming fire.

-------------------------

Notice that those are my goals, not necessarily what I always manage. I'm a Drell Adept. Part of the reason I hit and run a lot is to restock grenades frequently. Since I can't take much punishment at all, I suck at the cover / shoot main enemy shooting. Instead, I dart between flanks, attempting to prevent my group from getting surrounded. I do slip away from the group frequently, but never so far away that enemies can spawn between me and my group.

The Altruistic Reviver is extremely common. So common that people become frustrated and angry with me when I don't immediately try to revive them like everyone else do. I mean, why should I have a sense of self preservement when no one else does?

The Girl
The one girl who plays multiplayer. When the guys on the team find out that she's a girl they follow her around and attempt to "protect" her, as if their amazing ME MP chivalry will make her want to meet them in real life.

So, so true.  If you ever play TF2 and a female voice is heard over the mic, every single freaken medic in the game is pocketing her, even if shes a freaken engineer...

Of course the soldier (me) calling for support while capping a point can't possible have a medic to spare to help us win the game, there all "busy," hitting on her and making sure she's safe.

On the flip though girl gamers are a lot more rational about completelying objectives and not showing off like us guys so there is a definet upside to having them in game.  (the female players never leave a hack as a vanguard to charge half way across the map to get 2 extra kills...)

"forgive-ness, please": To understand this one you need to have seen the Simpsons episode with the mafia war in the front yard. Probably can find the scene on YouTube.

Basically it's representative of how I play a decent level human vg on bronze if it's a crappy team. I'll hang back, protecting people, racking up first 40-50 kills or so mostly by pistol. Charging only to replenish shields, only warping when absolutely necessary. Then by level 8-9 or so when things start to go to @&$%, just unleashing hell.

Lol, the reaction to girls in multiplayer games is just ridiculous. In TF2 I get ridiculed over the mic for being a 12-year-old kid because they refuse to believe I'm a girl.

And when they do believe me, they hit on me. As though I'd say "Okay!" and magically teleport through the internet.

A great list! The best one is "The Grab Guy". I've actually never seen one but the description is hilarious.

i'm definitly the "Unsung Hero" Type
i use supports all the time
Sabotaging, stopping Geth from advancing with my trusty Valiant so others can get a good shot at them, and sticky mines the endless groups of Pyros, Cannibals, Phantoms.
Reviving my teammates whenever i can, ensuring nothing gets close to them.
But somehow still manage to get the Gold Medals and highest points everytime.

Been a game as an Engineer, call for a spy check with my deep, unattracive male voice and not one pyro comes to help me. "No one here is a pyro," says one guy, "your on your own."

30 seconds later the spy is attacking the other Engineer nest.  Girl with female, attracive voice, asks for a spy check and no less than three people change to pyro and come to help her, and two stay and guard her after the spy is dead.

What a difference a few octaves make, lol...

The Last Man Screaming

Everyone is dead, except him. There is a Banshee and a few Brutes. In between the running away and yells when a Banshee apears, manages to pop a biotic explosion, or punch a Claymore shot into a Brute face. After a nice long wait, and after hearing helpless cries for that Banshee to stop being an evil demonic hellspawn, the Last Man Screaming eventaully completes the wave.

Born Loser - The guy isn't doing anythign particularly wrong. He revives when he can, takes on targets with the team. Just for some reason he can't get any sort of score at all.

The Silver Promotion guy - He gets into a team of randoms and finds that they managed to survive the Random Cerberus enemies without anyone dying and thinks that they are ready for the big leagues and switches it to Silver...without telling anyone that he did.

Cue game start and the unknown enemy this time are Reapers. Everyone starts panicking when they see Maruaders and Husks on the first wave. People quickly check the scoreboard and see that its rank Silver. Most of the time, people stay and this guy grows confident. Halfway through the game everyone consistently goes down except for the one guy, being the only one smart enough to use missiles when 2 banshees and 3 brutes are chasing him or 4 ravagers are shooting at him at a distance. Then comes the extraction wave, everyone is still alive...until that one guy gets one shotted by a banshee and the wave of brutes and bashee close in and kills the rest of the team. In order to save face, He then immediately leaves the group so no one will know he was the leader.

Right after the guy who consistently stays alive asks "Why the hell was no one else using missiles?"

===============

yeah...that pretty much what happened to me last game. I was using a Krogan Sentinel with Claymore X and Saber II...testing a melee and lift grenade build...didn't go so well...and i hate these guys. <_<

The "Allergic Reaction" guy!

You know, the guy that's so allergic to objectives that he runs away from every possible objectives thinking this is TDM on Call of Duty or Gears of War.

Entertaining list, I would have to say I fall in these categories:

The Olympian
The Altruistic guy
The WTF that works guy

My first character was an Infiltrator mainly because I just got done with a ME1-3 marathon with the same class and was real used to it.  I leveled up to 20 using a Tempest SMG and a pistol (can't remember the name.)  When I got to around level 8, I started to consistently post up at the top of the charts.  Even had a N7 200'ish guy try to kick me cause he lost to someone who wasn't even N7 20.

And another one that I have recently put myself in sadly, mainly because I have very bad luck with weapons until I got the Geth Shotgun...

The Geth Shotgunner: Ever since this guy has acquired the Geth Shotgun, he has made it his goal to use it on every class there is even if it means his recharge becomes super slow.  You see most of his kills by this weapon, and at the end of a match he will have a 50-75 kill badge with an accompanying 50-76 Shotgun kill badge.

The Marathon Man
Maybe his shield is gone or you just revived him but for whatever reason he is off. He amazingly manages to traverse the whole map dodging every enemy while his shield recharges only to return to the group like a man who has journeyed through the seven levels of hell.

Funny thing is that the girl I play with laughs at the noobs that attempt to "protect" her...as she is one of the best snipers I've seen. Hilarious when they end up dying and she steals their kills. X)

She gets annoyed by it sooo much. XD

The Altruistic Guy - Most of the time..

The Scoreboard Guy - Although, I don't really waste rockets just to excel in the scoreboard.

The Unsung Hero - Even when I play this role, as a Salarian Engineer, I'm usually the top scored.

You forgot to put "Guy/Gal with no mic" seriously maybe its just me not getting into a chatty lobby or something but I cannot seem to find anybody with a mic.
