So I started a new file from scratch and tried making all the squaddies available from the getgo. I extracted my save and set the "XXXX Aquired" flags for EVERYONE, Liara, James, Ashley, Kaiden, Edi, Javik, Garrus, Tali. But when I went into my game, Ash and Kai weren't available, although the others all were. Anyone know why this is?
This is the Xbox version btw.

You're confusing the game. You can't have Ashley and Kaiden. Pick one.

The flag is probably an error check, because the animations, movements, and plot used for Ashley and Kaidan are exactly the same. I imagine if you ever broke that error check, you'd have conflicts in code all over the place.

I was hoping that the new weapon mods would at least be available. That omni-blade AR mod looks so cool. Oh well.

Try to read the most recent few pages of the topic in the future before making requests. The main page doesn't get updated very often so checking a few pages will save you some time.
With Rebellion they changed the weapons. Only the skins are actually downloaded with the DLC and the actual data for the guns is stored on EA's servers and thus only usable in MP. I was just hoping beyond hope that they didn't do this with the Earth weapons/mods.

I'm not sure that matters though, because when I did that I only found Kaidans, Tali was still unselectable until I did a mission. After which she became selectab le again. I have no idea how that works but I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth.
Best of all, the only conflict it seems to have plotwise is that, dispite what the map says, NEITHER will show up on the Normandy. Aside from that, any scene that calls for your two active squadmates will play with both Ash and Kai normally, while any scene that specificly calls for one of them will default to whichever one is set to have not died on Virmire.
One thing I need to check is Citidel scenes. I know that scenes in Huerta Memorial and during the cititdel attack will display the not-killed-on-Virmire one, but it's possible that, after the point where they join normally, they might both show on the Citidel because they have different scenes. (Ash shows in the refugee came while Kaiden in the cafe, ect ect.) I'll get back to you guys on that one.

So Ash and Kai share some sort of code, then? I figured, Squadwise, that it wouldn't matter, since it's possible to have them both in your active squad at once. Thought they were two seperate characters entirely.
Storywise It seems like it wouldn't matter, since my game is still acting as though Ash is dead anything that Specificly calls for that flag.
