I have a couple questions about the Coalesced file modding.
Does modding that file give me an increased chance of being banned from multiplayer, even though I only want to mod single player?
Also, what exactly can be done while modding the Coalesced file? Would it allow me to have heavy weapons with me throughout the game like the Blackstar or Cain?
Or is it mainly for armor and appearance like stuff?

Rather than modding the coalesce file modify your save file with Gibbed editor

I tried useing Gibbs to give me the cain and blackstar, but it didn't work. I don't know why. I tried changing the value from 0 to 1 to see if that woudl hat work, but it didn't, as such I am still without my favorite two guns.
I figured the
Coalesced file may be the only way to get it to work?

U can open the coalesce file with an editor but make sure to back up first

Do you think this will work for the xbox 360, or is it PC only?

There is a pc editor that I know off so you will probably have to get it on your pc, mod it and port it back
The hands are part of the outfit textures -- basically, each outfit is a separate body, with its own skeletal mesh and its own textures. So you could probably make the hands prettier with texture modding, but you can't just pick new ones to go with a particular outfit.Elessar79 wrote...
I have no idea how to do any modding, but is it possible to use the hands from of the many forms of FemShep clothing options?
The coalesced file is part of the game files, not the careers/saves. On a PC, coalesced.bin is in the Origin directory (path is something like Program Files > Origin Games > Mass Effect 3 > BIOGame > CookedPCConsole), whereas saves are usually somewhere in My Documents. I could be wrong (not an Xbox owner), but I don't think you can get coal.bin off an Xbox without hacking it.Drunken_krogan wrote...
Ok, I downloaded the ME3 Coalesced Utility from the first post on this thread, and when I activate it I can't seem to find the Coalesced file. I transfered my career I am modding from my xbox to my PC, but the Coalesced file does not seem to appear.

The reason I'm asking is because the hands used in the blue formal military uniform look like they're arthritic and vains popping out all the place. I don't know what happened in the process of making this look, but the hands just absolutely ruin it. Once last thing: shouldn't Shepard have at least 2 gold bars on his/her shoulders stripes. If you look at his/her uniform at the beginning of the game you'll notice 2 bars clipped to the collar, so I'm assuming those are the number of bars a commander's rank has.

Figured out how to equip henchman outfits for Shepard without crashing the game, although I've only tested Ashley's casual outfit so far (she's dead in this save game, so that's not an issue). It requires coal.bin and save editing, the same as ME2, and does not require the OnlyLoadLevel keybind; all streaming is automatic and the outfit is selectable from the armor locker. Still have the problem with holes in the mesh, like the Illusive Man in ME2; apparently Ashley's head model includes part of her chest.
Might be able to load NPC head meshes this way as well, but I haven't tried it yet. If anyone is interested, I can post instructions.
Trust me, some of us will be very grateful if you post the instructions.aristaea wrote...

Ok I think I understand now. The main coal file is on the xbox and I can't transfer that to PC to mod. But I did have an idea.
When I tried modding the Cain in the first time, I added the weapons code into the area Raw>Plot>Player Variables. Essentially it would have put the gun in my equipment list.
But the game is designed to not allow Heavy Weapons to be in your list, they are pick up, use, drop, and go weapons.
So I got the idea of going to Raw>Player>Primary Weapon, and changing the code to the Cain instead of the weapon I am currently holding, which would be Falcon Assault rifle. That would technically work I think, because I would simply be using switching the Falcon for the Cain without adding the Cain to my items list, when I load up the game I shold be carrying the Cain instead of the falcon which I started out with.
I think I will give it a shot in the morning after I get some sleep.
Any thoughts on this?
Also, while I was fiddling around, I saw that for the Liara romance, which is listed in Plot>Mass Effect 2> Romance, that the "Liara toured the Normandy during the Lair of the Shadow broker" is not checked mark.
I was curious, is this a bug in the main game that Bioware missed? and if I checked marked it, what would happen to me romance wise and story wise?
Sorry is I have miss spellings and such, I just got off work and I work the night shift, its amost 1am where I am at. I am kinda tired.
Anyways, any thoughts on the above topics are welcome.
