Honestly, pre Dragon Age II & pre ME3 Ending of Doom when I heard BW was releasing new content that's how I felt. I fell in love with BWs games with KOTOR & I've been buying their products ever since. I pre-ordered Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age II, Star Wars: The Old Republic, & Mass Effect 3. I bought all the storybased DLC for all those games, with the sole exception of DAII.
I never really considered myself a fanboy, but others would certainly say that. After ME3s endings? Not so much. I don't plan on pre-ordering the newly announced Command & Conquer game (Despite CnC being one of my earliest & fondest memories of RTS games along with Blizzard's Starcraft & Warcraft & the fact that I own a lot of RTS games & enjoy them). I definitely don't plan on pre-ordering Dragon Age III.
(Side note: Due to EA/BWs decision to use a Sony companies DRM I could not play the CD version of DAII I preordered for over a month. The Steam version worked fine. I understand EA/BW wants to protect their profits, but a hacked version of the game was out within hours of release & all it did was punish loyal customers willing to play legal versions of their game.)
I've lost faith in BW to make great games. Games of consequence. Yes, games that are controversial, but controversial for the right reasons. (And see here) After the fiasco that has surrounded this ending & the push back from Dragon Age II I think Ray, Greg, & Casey need to take a long hard look at BWs direction & future. There will always be detractors & naysayers, but when blowback like this happens it should come as a wake up call.
Mass Effect 3 has a lot of great qualities to it, but clearly certain aspects of quality were dropped during the development cycle, and not just the ending (Stock photo used for Tali, Military Strenght being a lame bar on the screen, lack of enough meaningful sidequests, etc).
The reason so many of us fans are upset is because BW can make great games, you have proven that to us. It's not too late to win us back, either with changes to the ending (I doubt they'll ever remake a brand new set of endings, but obviously they're going to do something with the current set of endings) or with future games. Keep that in mind.
