So I'm in Act 1 and already met Fenris, but told him I don't need his help...hours later I kind of regret this. Is there anyway to get him to join you at this point?
Help with Fenris...

You'll miss out on a lot of stuff in the game and he's a great tank for your party.

No, not a lot, but quite a bit.

He is so worth the trouble. Think of the party banter you will be missing out on alone! The party banter! Also, dude is awesome in a fight.

"Hours later" is not that far ahead in this game, especially if you're still in Act 1.
I missed Isabela on my first playthrough and always regretted it; recently, I went back and reloaded that game, just to make sure I recruited her this time.
Everything feels so ... complete now lol
But you'll do what you want to do.

Yeah, he's probably the best warrior companion. But that's because my Carver was a templar and Aveline mostly has defensive skills, not offensive.
I gave him Sandal's +38% attack speed rune and he carved through enemy hordes like butter.

Some of the banter between Fenris and Isabela is priceless!

Yay, I'm all for more Fenris. How do you know what you're missing if you haven't experienced it in the first place? ;D And if you think he's too emo or something like the detractors, you can always just never bring him along and take Avaline if you really need a tank.ManOfSteeL1618 wrote...

The banter between Fenris and Varric is pretty decent too, not to mention talking to Carver about tattoos, if you have him instead of Bethany.

He's better than Carver or Aveline as far as a warrior. In some of the hardest battles my entire party ended up dead with just Fenris alive to fight everything off. He won every time - totally solo.

I'm currently playing with just mage/Hawke and Fenris. ( Unless the quest calls for another party member) The guys are kicking butt and taking names!

My first game (without spoilers) was totally Fenris-less. I totally missed his quest in Act 1 and didn't realize I hadn't gotten him till I was deep into Act 2. My mage got along fine with Aveline but yes, I missed out on a lot of banters and a couple of quests. I also lost Isabella after she skipped out with the book. The final battle that game had Aveline, Sebastian, Varric and Merrill. As i began fighting, instead of missing party members, Nathaniel and Zevran joined the fight along with Merrill and Cullen.
Some characters have little to no impact on the overall story. (Fenris, Merrill and Isabela are three who fall in this category). I finished that first game satisfactorily, but if I hadn't been determined on a 'spoiler free' first playthrough, I would have gone back and gotten him. Subsequent playthroughs have allowed me to find them, recruit them, keep them and enjoy them. 3 hours is nothing. I'm glad you went back and picked him up, he's worth the extra trouble.
