Whe playing Multiplayer, what do you have to do to get a "Killstreak"?

I can't find an official answer anywhere and whenever I ask on forums such as this, I tend to get different answers from different people - no one can ever agree.
Does anyone know for certain?  What is a "Killstreak"?  :-)

In most other games, it's when you do a series of uninterrupted kills, but how that relates to ME3 MP is not something I can easily grasp. It's not about killing kills without dying, and it's not about chaining kills in quick succession (grenades rock, I gotta tell you). Maybe it's about being the only one in the level to do several kills in a row? (I.e. it's only your name on the kill message list for 5+ kills in a row?)

If that was the case, then people playing single player MP would get it all the time.
I've soloed to getting "5 Waves Survived" before without ever getting a Killstreak.

I have no idea. I have noticed it most often when using the rocket launcher.

If i were to hazard a guess, i would say it is either amount of coordinated kills (team mates killing at the exact same time as you) or simply many kills at once.

The Waves Survived thing is nonsensical. In the demo it meant getting through N waves without getting your HEALTH damaged at all. As of a few days ago it SEEMS to actually count how much waves you've spent not being knocked out... but I still never get the ones for more than 5 waves.

Maybe it doesn't trigger when soloing? Just theorizing here, no way to ascertain without the devs chiming in, and I think they have their plate full as it is.

I, too, have only really noticed it with Rocket Launchers. Hence why I'm believing it to be "X simultaneous kills". However at other times with the Rocket Launcher, I've killed several and got nothing. U{sed a grenade to kill 6 swarmers at once the other day ... nothing.

As for the idea of it being not triggering when soloing but meaning that one person gets a whole load of kills without the others getting any ... could be, I suppose. :-)
I'll see if I can persuade my friends tonight to sit back for Wave 1 and let me do all the killing. If we get a Killstreak, I'll let you know. :-)

I'm wasting my time saying this, but WRONG FORUM. Multiplayer belongs in the Multiplayer forum, not this one which is for SP gameplay, strategy, tactics and builds.

-----edit---- damn you beat me to it by 30 seconds. ^^ Wot he said

I had it a few times. I think it happens when you kill 4 or 5 (not sure) enemies with a single attack. I used a grenade on my soldier on a group of cannibals and got the killstreak bonus that way.

Here are some facts to add to the random guessing:
1) killstreakmedalwindow = 1.0 - maybe kills in 1s?
2) there are playermedaldefinitions (25/50/75 AR kills and such) and squadmedaldefinitions (random faction, random map and such). Killstreak and survival are a squad medals

Empirically, missile launcher and biotic explosions have a decent chance of triggering the killstreak medal

Edit to clarify: The above could be used to test the hypothesis (e.g. change the window to 100 and see what happens)... but that would constitute cheating so I'm not going to do that.

I've asked there before, nothing.

And as this is obviously a "Gameplay" issue and the title of the forum doesn't specify Single Player only, I thought I'd try asking here. :-)

The only one I´ve had was when I killed several enemies with a biotic detonation, so it seems is killing several targets at once.

Yea it's kind of weird. I got it a few times yesterday with a sniper rifle. Every time I see the medal pop up, I'm thinking how did I get that. Most of the times it seems like I never did anything.

I think it's when the team uses misiles (or explosions) to kill "boss" enemies right away (Atlas, Banshee, Prime) rather than guns.

At least that is when I see it come up (I've gotten Killstreak 2 before from this)

Its not non-sensical at all. Waves Survived is a squad medal. If your full squad goes 3 waves without anyone having to be revived, you get the Bronze Medallion. Silver is 5 straight, and Gold is if you survive all 10 waves without using a revive.

Just got it twice while using missiles - once right at the beginning of a round on a Brute surrounded by Husks. So I'm now fairly certain it's a multi-kill; lots of deaths at once. Now I just need to figure out how many. :-)

Yes, it's many kills at once. I've seen it happen with cluster grenades, not just missiles.

You get kill streaks when you kill 5 enemies with a single attack, usually with missiles but can also be done with grenades and biotic explosions. Swarmers don't count, neither do any other spawned units like turrets and Geth combat drones. You usually see them when you rocket an atlas early in the wave because of the group of guardians that accompany them.

Thank you, been wondering for the longest time now.

Playing as my DA I get them sometimes by chucking Cluster 'nades at enemies as soon as they spawn. Works pretty well, since they're all grouped up

I think it's mostly when killing more than 5 enemies with 1 action.

Think Missile Launcher on Atlas + collateral damage takes out 3 guardians, a phantom and 2 troopers = killstreak

Think Cluster/Frag Grenade on a Ravager + collateral damage takes out 4 swarmers, a marauder and a cannibal

Those have been the only ways of attaining a killstreak in MP for me.

It's a certain number of team kills in a certain (short) amount of time.

Guess: high total damage dealt in x time?
