If it was planned, then dream/indoc obviously had you fooled....quit being such poor sports about it....
Cuz if it was planned than it obviously worked because you still have your doubts....
The problem is: We doubt it because we don't trust game developers to put that much heart into a story anymore, not because it is so unlikely by itself. The industry has suffered much in the past years due to the complexity games have nowadays plus the inability of publishers to recognize the developers need time to bring out a polished game.
So in the end the first thing I always suspect is: The developers ran out of time and had to rush things. We had this in KOTOR 2 where there were even code fragments left of the originally planned ending that the community tried to put together; we had Vampire Bloodlines where fans had to patch the game to be playable for the majority of players, etc. etc.. Many great games couldn't be as awesome as they could have been because the developers just ran out of time. Vampire Bloodlines is one of my favorite examples for that because the developer even had to close doors, even though the game is one of the best I've played in my life.
So we are expecting the same here, that's nothing unusual, nothing childish. We see visions and ideas getting destroyed by greed. Visions and ideas that could have been perfected if just a few months more would have been invested.
So even if this was planned in the first place and we get the final conclusion FOR FREE (very important imho), it doesn't seem like the game industry is ready for that. Gamers will expect that it wasn't and feel like they get forced to buy unfinished products.
Maybe they won't lose any customers, but at least a noticeable amount of people who buy their games on the very first day. If the future of the games is to get an incomplete one, LOTS OF SPECULATIONS FROM EVERYONE for one or two months and then getting the conclusion for 10$, then I'd rather buy them when the price is lowered and every DLC needed for the full game experience already out. Even without paying extra money I don't want to wait months just to see how things finally end. It sounds nice on the paper, but it's BS in reality to do it this way.
