"LAG" just happens to be the defined term related to LATENCY.

"Slowness" is what patch 1.03 caused to worsen.  Everyone needs to take a deep breath and pay actual attention to the descriptions of the various forums.  Official support  isn't here.  Regular feedback from Bioware isn't here, USERS are reading the traffic, when they are in attendance (this time of year is very slow in most message forums), and it is their advice and suggestions that are the reason this forum exists.

Before there were any computers small enough to fit on a desk, I was already professionally trained on the old Big Iron hardware of the day, and then on the "Mini" computers that came next (and could be built into something as small as a desk, but not to sit atop of one).  I owned a desktop machine in the dawn of their development, when we referred to them as "Micro" computers.  I was playing games on computers as soon as such software existed.

Fairly shortly after IBM assembled its own PCs from off the shelf components, I was able to start assembling my own "IBM Clone PCs", and I've built a great many of them since then.  Games have continued to give me an excuse to get inside my computers and tweak them, tune them, and generally have a good time playing with them.  There are now half a dozen of my reference articles in the Social Forum message database intended to help other gamers deal with some of the complexities of playing games on this platform.

Before retiring, my last employment was the most rewarding, when I was teaching programming, systems analysis, and production application use in college.  It was harder work, in its own way, but because of the human interaction that is often missing from so many jobs in IT, it was very enjoyable.

The graphics components are the particular elements I've chosen to deal with more than any other.  Far too many would-be gamers keep on attempting to overlook the importance of the performance level of their PC system's graphics, and I will continue calling a spade a spade when anyone has Intel's crap for video.

(Oops, that was a truly odd-looking typo I had to correct.  Now, let's hope that there was only that one that I made!)

Hey Gorath, way back when I was in the Navy, I got to work with a "mini" computer that had magnetic core memory. Had to do the old boot strap process with toggle switches and buttons to load the software with paper tape, or if we were lucky, magnetic cartridges...hehe...FUN..:)
