I am using Windows Vista Home 64.
I am not using a router just a DSL Modem.
I have added all the required ports and files to Windows Firewall and it doesn't work. I have tried the same with McAfee as well. I have tried turning everything off and still won't connect.
There has to be some kind of fix for this besides what has been posted.
Thanks for any help!

Also in Vista and 7 the ECN Capability setting is usually disabled by default but sometimes gets enabled by a TCP tweaking program or tweaked manually then forgotten about. I had inadvertently enabled it while tweaking these settings for my brother in law, there were no issues. So fast forward to Christmas I had bought the collectors edition for him, he's been playing it and loves it. I asked him about his loot yesterday and that's when he told me about the issue which I found odd because I've had it since launch and had no problems at all.
So I opened the required ports, still nothing I search a little in the forums and I see a post about the ECN capability needing to be disabled, the light comes on did I turn that on before? Well I opened up the Administrator command console and type in the following: netsh int tcp show global and sure enough there it is: ECN Capability:enabled So I disabled it (netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled) and Boom! it works now.
For those that are curious these settings should look like this (optimized):
TCP Global Parameters
----------------------------------------------
Receive-Side Scaling State : enabled
Chimney Offload State : enabled
Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level : highlyrestricted
Add-On Congestion Control Provider : ctcp
ECN Capability : disabled
RFC 1323 Timestamps : disabled

Why do I even need to be connected? I paid money for the extra modules, and now they're not available to me because Bioware is having some sort of technical difficulties? Gimme a break.

All I have to say is WOW! To all the people who are using hardware firewalls(routers) and software firewalls and for that matter pc's in general do some research, read manuals, buy and read a book and use Google, Learn about the technology you are using people! Having to open ports for a game that needs to connect to the internet is not uncommon.
It's still bad customer service. I bought the game when it came out and have been playing it quite a bit, and am on my 3rd character running through it.
Why all of a sudden is this extra stuff missing? I haven't changed my computer at all.

From what I understand of what I've read so far, all of you here have managed too, at some point in time, Login to the game? I have not ever managed to Login to the game Itself (The Internet I have just Fine) and my copy came with The Stone Prisoner (Which I have Redeemed on the Website)
*HOWEVER My Error is the following. I login with my right Password (I've done it with a Wrong One on Purpose and it'd catch me there saying; No that's the wrong password) and it would take me to the End User License Agreement/Terms of Service, However as soon as I click "accept" it pulls up a Popup saying "The Following Supplied Information was Invalid: Password, Please try Again" Where all I can do is click Okay. So I must know, how do I get passed this error and is it the one of which you are referring?
*Note: PC Version, DAO is Registered, Password is Correct.

Anyways, i've done lots of reading in various forums and it seems a lot of people are also facing the same issue of 'currently not connected to the internet', but i've also noticed that most of the workarounds/solutions given are for the Windows version of the game and for people running Windows XP/Vista/7. Are there any similar workarounds/solutions to this issue for a Mac? Anyone on a Mac playing the Mac version with a solution to fix this could you please let me know? Appreciate any help and thanks in advance!

Did you put your codes in?
I received this game from EA on release day and haven't had any of these issues at all. I installed, made my account, registered my game, put in my codes, started the game, all my preorder and collecters edition stuff downloaded, I imported my character from the Character Creator and started playing. The problems that people are having are not widespread, But also keep in mind this is not the Official support site, These are user to user Forums where it is possible to find solutions to technical problems. If you can't find a solution to your technical issue you might want to go to the DA Customer Support site which is also linked at the bottom of the web page under Help.

PROBLEM NOT SOLVED. WHEN WILL THIS BE FIXED OR WHEN WILL WE GET THE ACTUAL PORT NUMBERS WE NEED TO OPEN OUR FIREWALLS?
The actual port numbers are listed in the first post of this thread.
If opening them hasn't solved your problem, perhaps you should look at what makes your computer/network/game different from the thousands of people who are playing those modules without issues. If you identify what else is different, post it here so you can help bioware and other players figure out how to fix it.

First, we should NOT have to open up 10,000+ ports in our firewalls just to play a game. Pick a port and USE IT. Second, if it is only picking several smaller port rangers within a much larger range of ports then we should NOT have to troubleshoot via firewall logs which ports to open. I gave up trying to figure that out just due to how time consuming it was proving to be; everytime I thought I had the right ports opened it would try connecting to a new higher range seemingly at random. These ports should have been documented.
Third, even the ports that are "documented" do not specify whether they are inbound or outbound or both. Do I need to open only outbound?? Port 80 is opened by default; in fact most consumer routers and firewalls open ALL outbound traffic unless told otherwise. I do not want to open port 80 inbound or ANY port just to be safe because the people writing the documentation couldn't be bothered to be more specific.
The support for this game is very shoddy. Don't even get me started on the constant crashing seemingly at random for newer Nvidia cards. It has been 2 months and a few patches later and we are still dealing with that. Crash within minutes of playing then able to play for hours; no rhyme or reason except I can guarantee it will happen in the fade when you start as a mage. Of course I have looked at different drivers, memory, overheating, etc none of with the only possible culprate being a disagreement between the game and drivers. Then there is the memory leak. Then there is the fact that multicore processors have been out for how long and yet we can't seem to program properly to take advantage of them or at least not crash while using them?
Of course if the firewall issues would be resolved I would be willing to put up with the rest which is just sad as I should NOT have to settle. However, I am such a bioware fan that I am willing to put up with quite a lot; they are the only developer I will buy ANY game from, not just a known franchise, based only on the fact it was made by Bioware.

You need to open the ports listed for OUTBOUND traffic, i.e. DA is connecting to remote servers that are listening on those ports. AFAIK, the inbound data should come back on those same connections.
