lol everything of the original game works fine but if u are in DLC areas, u in bad luck and well, why the F we need to be online to play an offline game that we paid in full, this make no fricking sense.

This is why anti-piracy measures are a joke.  When they foul up, the honest man suffers and the pirates laugh.  When they work, the pirates laugh before breaking the anti-piracy measures into a million tiny pieces.

works again.

I've tried to turn off the auto login and all other online features after loging in once, and then out again.

I could play with the dlc, but only until i restarted the game. Then i had to login again.

so, turning off the auto login-stuff will not save you :)

I agree. Over 75% of people who pirate games are going to have the know-how to properly crack said game anyway, putting in a counter measure that will only catch a quarter, or more then likely less then that, is just moronic.

Game developers are some of the most well paid employees in the world, sometimes they get treated like crap, and they are always worked to the bone, but the royalties are there nontheless. Not to mention gaming sales is one of the things saving our economy at the moment, it really isn't that bad off. Pigeon holing loyal paying customers into anti-piracy software is just counter productive.

No it clearly was a server issue with EA/BioWare. If you are still having problems then maybe you should try more drastic measures.

yup finally started working. a tip to dev's... if you're going to have maintenence or server outage, please make it easy to check if there's downtime etc... perhaps in the launcher or somewhere. i could not find any info.

In fairness - we expect these servers to be up 365/24/7 and that's not always gonna happen, all servers have outages.

The problem I think seems to be with the communication of whether there is an issue, or not, rather than the fact that there is one.

I accept that things don't work 100% of the time but even with that being the case, I'd like to be told...

Definitely. It's both stupid and annoying that us with DLC can't play when the servers are down, but if there'd been advanced warning chances are it wouldn't have bothered me. It was the sudden "you can't play anymore and we won't tell you what's going on" that made it an actual problem.

You don't really think the programmers and designers get to see much of the benefit that is achieved with their work. You need to be an investor and expect ridiculous interest on your investment ;)

Anyways, second time in 1 week that I can't play the game I have paid for. It's as if I wanted to make dinner and the oven told me that it was unable to connect, hence only the basic funtion of the oven light stays enabled.

P.S.: I'm also playing Eve Online, which is, as the name suggests, an online game. And hey, their server uptime is a lot better than this here. And here it's just the bloody authentication server, I don't need to download anything, it just needs to get unlocked. It's ridiculous how often it is down, and that there is no way to tell if it is down or not.

But, as we all know too well, I could be trying to knock out some air and achieve a bigger reaction, atoms swirling about before they all settle in their movements again. :P

I used to have this issue with a lot of EA games including Dragon Age and the Battlefield series.

I fixed it by upping the TCP timeout value of my modem from the default 360 seconds - works wonders.

This did not fix it for me... I've been playin for 30 hours already, with no problems at all, and yesterday, all of a sudden, the game does not connect... It does not let me push the log in button, it tells me that Im not currently connected.

This has just happend to me... everything was fine yesterday and now my game won't connect to the internet. I tried with DAO and with DAO:A.

Anyone else with this?

I actually had the same issue before easy fix to it is actually disable the windows firewall. Or add dragon age to firewall exclusion list seems to work to.

I have this problem on both my desktop (running vista home basic) and my laptop (running 7 home premium), neither unblocking ports nor disabling the firewall helped at all :(

Eureka! - dusted off my old broadband modem and started a PPPoE connection manually - no problems logging in at all :-D

Problem seemed to be that the game wasn't able to recognize the "permanent connection" via the WLAN router ... perhaps somebody with more tech-know-how will be able to make sense of why that is ...

Spoke too soon - my laptop still isn't recognized :-(

and my DLC isn't accessible because it says I was logged in under a different account - which of course I wasn't :-( :-(

All-in-all I can say I'm hugely dissappointed - I buy games to relax and expect them to work. I don't expect to have to spend hours sifting through forums and tinkering to get things running.

Gaaah! I won't be buying any more BioWare games that's for sure :-( :-( :-(

This is my second post. Doesn't anyone from Bioware read these??
I am not using a router just a modem. I have tried completely disabling firewalls and anti-virus. Originally I was running Vista 64-bit.  I just got a new box with Windows 7 and have the same exact problem. "Not currently connected to the internet. I have tried all suggestions and it still doesn't work. Program is up to date. Same problem with the expansion. All I really care about getting is the free stuff that came with the game.  I could care less about my online profile.  I just want what I paid for to work. Please get this fixed.

My DAO installation also thinks I've got no internet connection. I haven't the faintest idea what most of the technical discussions about ports means. Would it be possible for someone to post a simple how-to get-DLC guide?

Added the ports, but I'm still getting the "You are not connected to the internet" message. I'm starting to think maybe it's my crappy ISP's fault.

It's not your ISP. I've tried everything suggested in here and nothing works. It's Bioware that's the problem.
