Other video game companies have got to be looking at what happened here and are feeling some added pressure. I surely would think to myself, "Man.. if we get a storyline really wrong it might be the new norm to burn us to the ground for it." I fear that then game writers might begin to think we are upset about an unhappy or unexpected ending rather than the actual reason, being that the ending is nosensical, foreign to the canon, and plot hole ridden.
I fear that, to stay on the safe side of a potential economic disaster, game companies may for a while not try anything out of the box for fear of persecution. In the end this could result in waves of equally unsatisfying game endings that are so soft, cautious, and predicatble that we may get bored to death of cookie cutter repitition.
Perhaps I am just too fearful, but I feel like we might could have potentially scared the innovation out of the industry for a few years.
Anyone else afraid we're not going to see an orignial plot for ages?
