The big strengths of PC games over consoles is the ability for players to mod things...
Look at how many mods there are for other Bioware Games... DA2, DA:O and let's not even talk about NWN!!!!

So let me get this straight, Bioware's answer for the face import bug is to use the masseffect 3 save editor, but now says using those modding tools will ban your account and lock you out of all games? WTF?
Not sure about the save editor, but what they're talking about is modifying the Coalesced.bin file.

yeah I don't know much about PC gaming, so if there's some direct possibly injury to Bioware/EA I can understand it, but if not what's the purpose?

Wow really? Did they give an explanation as to why? Would using the save editor count as modding?
Or if someone release a hot catsuit for Shepard to wear as casual clothing... adding that would get me banned?
Or if someone decides to add more hair options? or hair colors...

Does it still do this even if you are in offline mode?
Why did they have to bring in multiplayer? We wouldn't have had this situation.
I was really hoping to get a mod that changed it so the weapons you hold in cutscenes is ALWAYS the ones you are actually equipped with.
*sigh*

I thought you couldn't be offline to play most PC games anymore?

Only real reason would be to prevent cheating in multiplayer. Similar to getting your Xbox banned for a modded controller.
They need to come up with a way to exclude single player mods.

It isn't so much about what you're modding, Origin just does a general scan for any changes to Coalesced.bin.

Ther are plenty of mods for DragonAge Origins for example.. from simple tweaks or cosmetic changes (Lelianna's Ashes trailer armor for example) or game breakign cheats. There are some great mods that improve the looks of many NPC around the game. Or before Awakening, adding stamina potions.
If you look at Neverwinter, then the modding is FAR greater... even today, that community still release mods, and new content, armors, creatures, and complete stories. Basically what has kept that game goign for all this time is the active modding.
Same could be said about the 2 Freedom Force games... the active modders creating characters and skins and others making complete new campaings kept that game going for years after release.

I own a 360 copy of the game, mainly because I hate DRM.
