We are only taking action against players who modify their multiplayer game to gain unfair progression, unfair advantage, or affect the experience of other players.
Examples are (but not limited to):
- Increase leaderboard rating.
- Increase amount of credits received on a match.
- Increase/modify weapon/power stats.

There's no harm in modding SP... we can't even have totally cosmetic mods like skins? Son I'm Disappoint :/

Well, thanks for the warning... I think I will continue using my coalwhatever.bin file even though it is modded, as it only gives me SP items, and if they want to ban me from MP, they can go right ahead, I almost never play the damn thing anyway =P
It would be a ban from origin locking you out of all your EA games, not just from ME3 multiplayer.

Good to hear.
No one likes a cheat.
Well, in multiplayer anyway.
In singleplayer it's no one elses business.
Unfortunately, not everyone sees it that way...
There seems to be a developing trend of modding being not so much unsupported by some companies, as positively opposed.
I remember from the release of MW2 (aside from the no dedicated server botch) that not only did they actively refuse to even consider releasing mod tools, but also they would target those clever enough to mod the game anyway.
All of this was drive by claims that they wanted to 'control the player experience' for the enjoyment of all.
Ultimately, it didn't hurt DLC map pack sales that they were the only person with new maps.
No more industrious people working away for free to spoil that.
Restricting modding as a dlc sale strategy reads just like a conspiracy theory straight from the tin foil hat brigade.
Though it does have it's own internal logic, modding has been a strength of gaming for such a long time.
Modding keeps games alive.
Bethesda knows this.
Hopefully Bioware does too.
It keeps people interested, keeps them playing, which means more likely that folk will be playing when later dlc starts to roll out.
To eliminate it is a very short sighted move indeed.
So, it shouldn't be all doom and gloom.
It's only a step to stop cheating in multiplayer, not some malevolent conspiracy to promote sales of dlc and kits.
Granted, Bioware are part of the company that tried to sell cheats as dlc in 2006.
...and recently announced that you are going to be able to buy shortcut dlc to unlock bf3 weapons and kit.
...and in that ME3 game have booster kits you can buy for multiplayer.
Who made that one again?
.
.
Oh dear.

They would charge you for each breath you took while playing their games if they could. A little ironic since multiplayer/online pass is required to get the "best" ending, wouldnt you say?aliengmr1 wrote...

This is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard......so let me get this straight ... I buy a game, it is mine, no? cause if I am renting it, then I guess I will go to the correct store in the future. Complete and utter BS>> if true !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been patient about the endings, BW's baby if they update great, if not no DLC for me. So I am not big on drama. IF this game is MINE that I bought with MY money and I can't mod it... It will be the last game from EA, period.
EA certainly doesn't want you to own it. If they could, they would have you paying monthly for every EA game you own. At the moment its too heavy handed.

This kinda makes me think that more people will be pirating copies of the game for modding purposes.
I own a 360 copy of the game, mainly because I hate DRM.

Look at how many mods there are for other Bioware Games... DA2, DA:O and let's not even talk about NWN!!!!
Remember that drawing that went around some 10 years ago? Before Marriage (shows a beautiful girl), After Marriage (shows an ugly witch)? Well this is like that except it is "Before EA" , "After EA" ordeal.

Nah guys this is our fault. We let them push us around and we pour our money over them. We should ask for more bang for our $. I mean a good modding community gives the games so much more re-playability and.. well everything that's good and fantastic with games +1. I want mods back!

I have to agree. If nothing else, I want the ability to play around with my SP character's power loadout. I was working on a coalesced mod when I found out about the banning. I was lucky in that I found out about the banning before loading an MP game... I just hope we can get them to relax this banning stuff at some point down the line.
