Sigh. I'm not playing ME3 right now, but if I ever did again, I'd surely want to be able to mod my sp campaign. I haven't even touched multi-player yet. But if I did mod my sp, then there could probably be a problem with my account being banned ?(until further clarification, this is what I think stands).

Sigh. I just... sigh. I remember, when I read for the first time that EA and Bioware had joined up...I got kind of misty eyed and threw a fit. Nothing since then, has proven my omen wrong.

Just...sigh.

Yes, it was confirmed by Thomas Abram that modifying even singleplayer aspects of the game will cause Origin to ban players, as it scans on launch for any changes.

This is another really terrible move...on EA's part. I can understand concerns over piracy, but why not encourage harmless modding as Valve and countless other developers do?

I'm on xbox and use Gibbed. Even microsoft isn't concerne with players getting extra coveted (thought useless) gamer points by modding the game.

This kind of 'concern' encourages piracy, and rightfully so...

As an ME gamer who's been using Texmod and editing my ini since ME1, will definitely be thinking differently about things moving forward, always despised origin and glad to know my hate had excellent reasoning.

i asked Thomas Abram for clarification on the different Statements in that Thread, this is his answer:

"Scylla's statement is more accurate then mine. Refer to his for now that being said my statement was more to make people think twice before modifying the coalesced file as it can cause major problems that we really can't help people with if all goes wrong."

So as long as you restore the Original Coalesced when playing MP, you should be fine. (note: my question was only about the coalesced. I don't know what happens if you mod other files)

Quoting this so more people see it.

If this is true I am fine with it, as I can see how this IS cheating in MP, but it shouldn't matter in SP.

Why did they include MP Coalesced on the local drive anyway.  Seem like this should be loaded when you enter MP?

I love the multiplayer, and haven't experienced any noticeable cheating, but SP and MP need to be seperated, for sure.

Lie about a game's ending to increase sales? That's ok, you're an artist.

Edit files to a game you payed $60 for? Burn in hell! That sort of person is the scum of the earth.

It's in your EULA, you gave them the right to ban you for this.

Gosh, then it is very funny that many if not all more scrupulous methods of acquiring a title bypass this agreement entirely.

Hmm, interesting, isn't it?

Also, as much as I'm really caring less about MP, I do in fact agree, if that's all that this turns out to be enforced on, nowhere near the same thing, at least to me.  That on the other hand(bans for cheating in MP) I can understand.

Yup. If you really want to mod there is a way to bypass origin as others have mention. Not tough to find and deprives EA of sales. Why are they so hellbent on driving people to piracy?

EA and others have attempted to make the PC a closed platform like consoles for years. Take Skyrim, say they wanted to release a 10$ pack of swords. Won't work. There are already tons of them and probably better anyway. EA has to do what it can to nickle and dime us. Mods take even the possibility of that.

Difference is that Bethesda are happy with the money they make from the game sale/expansions.

EA will do whatever it takes to ensure they can serve bubbly to their next shareholder meeting.

Wow.....!
What if EA bought Bethesda.....? We would be screwd!

That does not make it right.
And you do know that Origin's EULA is "illegal" in several countries, right?

Just a note on EULA's there is an organization that is trying to clarify gamer's rights. I just found it, so don't know much about the organization itself, but I am having a very interesting read.

They say modding the single player gamer is against the EULA?

Good lord this is dumb. Modding is a huge part of single player rpgs.

If you can mod in the multi-player weapons and other crap that is probably already on your disc, you won't be coughing up money for this 'DLC'. Not that I care about this stuff, but I can see why they would do it this way if they are trying to make you pay for 'extras'.

Name me another game where modding of the single player is banned by the EULA aside from perhaps any of the CoD games.

They made it annoying to do so.

I have it on steam and I can mod it.   No idea about DA2 on Origin.

I agree, letting malware datamine my PC so I can play games just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Thanks EA :D
