Why are you surprised by this? This was obvious since the moment they annonced multiplayer.

I accepted this before i decided to buy the game.

On the contrary, it never occurred to me that the multiplayer would use the same coalesced.ini as the single player game, becuase that would invite people to cheat and it would be stupid. Perhaps you expected EA to do something stupid, but I didn't.

Continue reading, particularly the post from Thomas Abram. Modifying anything (since MP and SP rely on the same file) can lead to a ban. It is not MP-specific.

modding = free dlc

Depending on the way this game works it could be possible to unlock additional content, that is hidden or locked, but that is not for free or something.

dont know if already said, but thread tl,dr.

Ummm, just because a game has Multiplayer does not mean it automatically becomes unmoddable.

I realy miss the good old golden days when the Quake 3 engine was king.
Modding was not only fully allowed, but fully endorsed and supported by developers in form of SDK's.

Not free, if it's on the disc you paid for... You paid for it.

And the fact that they are denying people access to it unless they have "codes" is absolutely outrageous.

Yep. Great to know that we can't even play single-player the way we want. What does it matter if we mod the game? Maybe they can stop pushing out cheap cosmetic DLC so they won't have to worry about that?

Just another example of how developers seem to think that because they own the rights to the game automatically means our $60 is just a donation.

So, Bioware's trechery it seems infects the entire ME3 experience.

And I appreciate the quick locks the moderators love to issue. Ask a question, a quick answer and lock of the thread, so no chance to respond.

Its like Bioware no longer knows how to do anything but screw up.

I play PC games partly because of the mods. Now I have another reason not buy any more EAware games. Good riddance.

It's not BW...it' EA trying to destroy the Modding Community....I had heavily modded Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout NV on my PC going through the Nexus Site for my Mods...EA added an enforced patch to Skyrim (can't disable or reject the patch) and it has disabled the Nexus connection to my games....EA has decided they only want people to use Steam Mods...I'm still trying to find my way around that one, I have no interest in the Vanilla versions of those games and Steam doesn't have the mods I want.

How is EA affecting your Bethesda games?

Bethesda is owned by ZeniMax.

Its not BW, its EA...BW doesn't get a choice....EA puts these companies backs to the wall.

Hubbies bro is right into this sort of thing, he explained it to me...basically it has something to do with the connection between EA and Steam.

Given how rocky the relationship is between EA and Valve right now I am surprised that EA has any affect on Steam.

If gaming companies are going to start taking away the ability to mod then I will just quit playing video games altogether and go back to tabletop role playing. I'm not going to let a company tell me what I can do in the single-player campaign of a game I bought for $60 plus however much DLC.

Yeah, he mentioned that, apparently this is tied into it....I would have to get him to explain it all to me again...I was so revved and angry about what's happening to my games, I didn't listen to much beyond my games are being destroyed.

Nexus Mod Manager still works fine. You are NOT being forced to use Steam Workshop.

However, a update to Skyrim may break some mods.   If, for example, you use the SKSE (script extender) it will be broken with each update.
So you will need to update SKSE and all is well again. They usually update when Skyrim does.

There may be other mods that break with a update. if so, just update the mod.

its that easy.

EA has nothing to do with it, nor does Steam Workshop. EA is not associated in any way to Skyrim or Bethesda

You know, what gets me is that BW has always had a good relationship with the modding community. Take BGII. I still play that game, and it's in on small part due to the HUGE number of quality mods out there for it. Heck, I learned how to mod myself thanks to BG. User mods drastically increase the life-span of a game, and allowing mods is a good way to keep people interested in your games... and your company. This is a very foolish move on EA's part... especially with all the negative press that ME3 has already generated.

I guess the moral of the story is that if you are going to mod the game, just give yourself a default galactic readiness of 100% and forget all about the multi-player part of the game, which you no longer need anyway.
