You are beeing harsh on the adept... While I agree to some of your points, you are making it worse than it really is for that class.
I've always been a claymore vanguard lover tough so I feel you for not liking the adept as much as in ME2 due to all those changes, but I really loved my adept playtrough and here's why:

You say there is no reliable instant CC. While this is true, area double throw now travels really fast and very few times an unprotected enemy will dodge BOTH of the AREA projectiles effectively making this power a reliable CC (for me at least). I can take down an army of husks with only that power (often instakills them, ledges help you even more, using singularity is cheating against them...) I prefer to rely on my double throw than say James' carnage to CC somebody close to me

The other big problem is the competition coming from Liara who can instacast stasis, warp, singularity. To me this didn't make my playtrough less unique, it helped me feel like a true biotic commando team. Two singularities and a stasis bubble plus Liara's warp and your own combos is just insane to watch. Sentinels may have overload (wich is really awesome) they don't get two singularities (and maybe two stasis bubbles if you spec that way) and the awesome combo or power mastery the adept gets from his passive (faster cooldowns for combos or more power). Who cares about shooting guns ? certainly not my adept, too busy bombing everything in sight and locking flanks with singularities...

Even on tough shielded or barriered targets, you never really have to slow down. For thing like Nemesis and engineers was like Liara's stasis - my singularity - liara warp (detonates stasis, strips shield) - my warp (detonate lifted target). Takes about 2 sec for two explosions :D

The adept gets his uniqueness in quantity: it was my favorite run yet because of the sheer amount of non-stop explosions. Sure others can make thing explode too, but not THAT much and as often...

Playing on xbox is also a factor for me. I like to center aroung 3-4 powers max otherwise constant pausing is required and adept fits this nicely. pull-singularity are the only redundant power imho (use one OR the other) lifting shockwave is hilarious and quite effective in some situations :)

I think the nonstop explosions are the problem as well as cool downs. CDs are way too short in Vanilla Insanity, which is why everyone should play Spectre difficulty.

@fegede, the Adept is not a bad class, it's just that anything it can do can be done better by another class. Double area throw? Sentinel has that, as well as area cryo blast and chain overload with neural shock. Biotic explosions? Quite frankly I don't like them, plus the Vanguard and Sentinel can do nearly as many per minute as an Adept. Additionally, those classes offer more diversity of powers.

And as your post hints, Liara is a better Adept than Shepard. If an npc is better than a main character class, then that class is designed wrong.

I love the biotic explosion mechanic. I think if it stayed as an Adept exclusive ability or if they nerfed Sentinel and Vanguard explosions in relation to the Adept it would make them feel much more unique.

Pretty much. If biotic explosions had been only possible on an Adept - either directly or indirectly - I doubt there would be any argument.

Its the main reason why I'm not overly bothered by it. At the end of the day, so long as the class itself plays well enough, I don't mind.

Some enemy types do this - sometimes - most don't. A Cerberus Centurion hardly tries to dodge any power (they will occasionally though). But Nemesis, Phantoms, Marauders, Geth rocket troopers, Pyros, Hunters do it all the time. It does not matter which power you use, and all the Adept's powers can be used for this. You can hit those Centurions with Pull, Throw, Warp, Sing, or Shockwave to stagger - shoot down his shield (stagger them again if needed, powers don't have a cooldown anyway) and pray he won't start rolling around when his shields are gone.

The main problem is reliability. Everything the ME3 Adept does is a gamble hence why it is not possible to build any kind of strategy around its powers. ME2 Singularity wasn't completely fail-safe, but when cast at close range it would hit the target with >95% certainty and hold anything with shields, barriers, or armor for a decent amount of time. In ME3 the Adept has to rely on squadmates or a bonus power for reliable CC.

All I can tell you is I have never once seen a marauder try to dodge a singularity in 2 playthroughs on insanity as an adept (when its shields were still up).  Can't really speak about geth though since I kill them with energy drain spam.

Also about the "and pray he won't start rolling around when his shields are gone" part, my point was that with singularity -> energy drain -> throw (or warp) he can't roll around when his shields are gone.  As soon as they are gone the singularity sucks him up.

Another way to increase the reliability of your powers is to fire them through a scope.  It actually gives the enemy less time to dodge.

I think the adepts play style has actually changed. Singularity is not as useful as it use to be. People seem to also go with the obvious singularity/warp, pull/throw combo. Those are not as effective now. They are against single targets. But the adept can dominate multiple enemies effectively with shockwave and aoe reave (although not an adept ability, but you could substitute with aoe pull, I like reave because it's instant).

Shockwave has been revamped. The fact that it can now detonate is fantastic. Upgrading it to lifting shockwave also lifts unshielded enemies that havn't been targeted by biotics allowing you to detonate the lifting effect.

Reave (although not an adept ability, it's still a biotic ability) is amazing. Not only does it provide you with damage reduction, but you can set up or detonate biotic explosions instantly. Upgrading this to aoe reave means you can detonate anyone with a shockwave should they start to move apart from each other.

I played my first playthrough using singularity/warp/throw. It was fine, but I had more trouble with multiple enemies. My second playthrough I wanted to actually use shockwave. I felt bad I never used it. It's amazing. What makes this a fantastic detonator is the fact it can go through walls. Enemies hiding behind cover are annoying, but as soon as one pops out, aoe reave him and the others are affected as well. Shockwave and you've hit them dealing massive damage and throwing about everyone in the room.

Adding Javik into the mix means you can have a dark channel up almost the entire time. Shockwave has actually (after killing it's first and second target) exploded three times because dark channel allows for detonation each time it moves to a different enemy.

Or, what I did, I brought kaidan and Liara with me. Liara would warp, I would aoe reave - biotic explosion. Kaidan would reave, I would shockwave - another biotic explosion. I would reave, Liara would warp again. Sometimes there might be an enemy sneaking up on me, I'd shockwave, he gets lifted into the air, surprise, there was another enemy behind him lifted as well, then liara, kaidan, or I use another biotic ability to explode everyone. All of these would be instant detonations (squadmates abilities are instant, so is my reave) except for shockwave, but shockwave allows for me to CC and detonate multiple enemies easily.

This set up has been FAR more effective than using singularity and throw (throw/warp being better for single target). They're great abilities, don't get me wrong, but if you REALLY want to dominate multiple enemies, shockwave is fantastic. If I could record on my xbox, I'd put up a video on youtube. People talk about how vanguards and sentinels are good and they make the adept useless. Not with this setup. I can detonate everyone in a room every 4 seconds.

Interesting build...but your build is why Adept's aren''t designed properly. The fact that he/she can use two powers and dominate everything is bad gameplay design. This is why Adept gameplay is now dull in comparison to ME2 Adept, because back then your full biotic arsenal was useful and had unique uses in different situations. Now, everything detonates with massive damage and force + fast cooldowns, rendering many of the Adept's powers redundant.

No one got love for the auto detonation on singularity? Just about to start my adept run, and having a AOE auto detonating grenade to place in strategic areas, to help prevent flanking and kill mooks sounds good?

And warp + shockwave apparently detonates even when used on shielded enemies? Do not know yet if warp and throw can do the same to shielded enemies, but shockwave has a fairly decent damage component now to it.

youll be exploding your singularity the very next ability you use anyways.

i thought it might be nice, but i explode everything far sooner then itd ever detonate on its own.
